Gulfstream G650 Strong Wind Landing at Engadin Airport

- The Gulfstream G650 C-FYRC is seen landing at Engadin Airport in Switzerland during strong and gusty winds blowing around 20 knots. Flying to this airport nested within the Swiss Alps is a great challenge for pilots and plane. Flight procedures and aircraft performances are very strongly affected by those high mountains. The approach through the Engadin Valley takes extreme concentration, skill and teamwork even for experienced pilots especially in crosswind conditions. The Engadin Airport is even the highest in Europe at 5'500 feet and also provides a most beautiful backdrop with lush green meadows, dark forest and crystal blue rivers and lakes. I hope you enjoy the video!

Thank you so much!
...wow, Matt...nice one of that Gulfstream dealing with breezy and gusting winds...
...I'm a native of Wyoming, a high plains state along the Northern Rocky Mountains...and high winds are quite common, but dealing with these winds along with an already steep glide path is a "white knuckle" affair for all but the most seasoned pilots...
...this one handled all that like a true pro...and set that big private jet down as gently as can be...impressive...
I am from Calgary we get crazy weather high winds👍🇨🇦
Thank you Clark for your feedback! The pilots did a perfect job during the strong and gusty winds. @@matthiashaenni You're welcome, Matt.
I hope i can have a private jet😩
Good luck!
@@matthiashaenni thanks
Matt my good friend, another great video with beautiful scenery, you know I really like the wing spans on these gulfstreams as they are awesome & those thrust reversers are great also. I really like the livery on this jet & it reminds me of a great white shark, also you have been catching some great liveries lately. Skilled pilots, that last hill looked like they didn't clear it by much at their altitude, but it might have just been the camera angle/illusion. God bless you & D from T & I.
Hi Steve! Much appreciate your kind words. But no hill Steve ;) -The peaks are up to 13'000 feet high. Flight procedures and aircraft performances are very strongly affected by those high mountains. The pilots did a perfect job especially during the strong and gusty winds blowing around 20 knowts. Must be quite challenging to approach through this narrow valley. It's very beautiful up there in the Swiss Alps. The Engadin Airport is the highest in Europe at 5'500 feet. Thanks for the blessings. God bless you my friend and T.
@@matthiashaenni Matt my good friend, your welcome, ty for that info, in my 1st post that is why I said it may be an illusion in regards to a hill, God bless you & D from T & I
@@matthiashaenni Matt my good friend, We flew nowhere near the altitude msl as the alps, only the Ozarks( still no where near the height of the alps, msl) here is some old terminology that has changed by name & procedures, if an airline had an abundance of pilots at one airport locale & they were short at another they would fly the pilots as passengers & it was called "dead heading"& now they call it crew re-positioning, in my day you had to map out & report your flight routes, & now, especially with regional airlines that may fly to 3 or so airports in 1 trip your orders are called " canned" they are already pre-determined by flight controllers at your airlines flight center that files the flight plans with ATC's & you don't even have to map out flight routes, altitudes, or report them, but they are subject to change by ATC's enroute. God bless
Matt my good friend, thank you for the thumbs up reply, God bless
My good friend Steve. Thank you so much for your feedback. It is really great to learn more from you. I highly appreciate your kind comments, your good thoughts and also prayers. I am happy to confirm that my health is much better!! I hope you are feeling better to my friend. All the best and God bless you.
Cheers thanks for the video very sexy G650
I wish you had a private jet
Thank you!

@@tfsvids4117 You are very welcome! :)
I have Gulfstream G650 ER🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯❤❤❤👍👍🙏
Very cool
Please tell me the proper term for the bulging area between the wings and fuselage.
Matt, here is an oldie, back in my time, if a pusher wasn't available at the gate & ground control/ramp gave permission to head out for taxi way, we would perform what we called coning, thrust reversers deployed & thrust throttle which would cause the jet to back up in reverse slowly, still see it sometimes( rare) these days & of course most commercial jets don't have thrust reversers these days, God bless, btw, the proper terminology for coming is powering back, coning was a lingo term used by pilots
Thanks Steve for this interesting info. I have already seen some videos about this procedure. Quite interesting to reserve themselves.
My good friend Steve. May I ask you whether you were pilot yourself? I am really interested to hear from you.
@@matthiashaenni yes, Allegheny airlines(Md80-82), majored in in Aviation starting in 1981, a brief synopsis, ATC's went on strike & President Ronald Reagan replaced them with military ATC's until the strike was over , then he deregulated airlines to allow mergers & Allegheny merged with Piedmont airlines, Pitt air( their flight school) & dove tailed the seniority roster between the 2 airlines & I lost my job being at the low end of the roster. Then he allowed the airlines to control their maintenance/inspections which reduced the authority for the FAA( federal Aviation administration) & it was like the airlines were foxes watching the henhouse, then I had an injury in an accident along with health issues & was grounded. btw their nick name was mad dog = md
@@matthiashaenni I never flew internationally, I would assume this is world wide procedure, for commercial/cargo airlines, but on the jets there is a green strobe light on the front outer right wing & a red strobe light on the outer left wing. If 2 jets find themselves opposing each other, both would bank left toward the green strobe light to avoid a mid-air head on collision, it is an extra safety procedure/precaution that is rare that it might occur, but it also allows other jets that are close & visibility allows you to see the strobe lights & know the direction that the jet is traveling.
Matt my good friend, thank you for the thumbs up on both my replies, if you have any questions feel free to ask, if I know I'll be glad to answer, God bless brother
yes, yes, that airplane belongs to sunwest in calgary, alberta, canada over 4200 NM away.
Thanks! The pilots did a perfect job especially during the strong and gusty winds. It's very beautiful up there in the Swiss Alps. The Engadin Airport is the highest in Europe at 5'500 feet.

Is that a Stemme S-10 or s-12 in the background at 3:30?
I think it is a Stemme S-12. Thank you for watching.
@@matthiashaenni If you could get a video of the S-12 in flight or even close up with the pilot that would be totally awesome. Sweet engineering on the newer S-12!
It wont be too long before you catch a G700
I really do hope so! Thanks again!
