- Hello friends & welcome back to our channel! A few months ago, I found out that Amazon started offering a personal shopping service. That's right, Amazon was styling people for a small fee each month - so I figured, we had to try it out to see what kind of clothing & accessories they would send me, and if they would be any good. So we took a quiz and good ole' Bezos sent me a sack of clothes. What do you guys think of my Amazon personal shopper haul?
EDIT (for clarity) - although I eliminated most color options in the quiz, I did leave on every pattern except animal print, I said that I often wear edgy styles and I also liked boho styles, said that I would try pretty much every trend except for animal print and cropped pants, and clicked "yes" on multiple silhouettes and clothing items - so they had plenty of optionality! just in case you guys missed some answers!

Can I just say I really love how Tyler isn't passive and silent while filming? His cute little responses and additions really make these videos go from awesome, to super awesome. It's nice to see a husband who is so engaged in and involved with his wife's hobbies and interests (and in Saf's case, career as well). This is how it's supposed to be. It shouldn't be a chore or a pain for SO's to spend time with each other and do the things they love together, even if it's not really a personal interest for one of them. You guys are honestly the perfect couple, and I'm so happy for you guys and thankful that you share so much of your lives with us, and make such great, interesting, and funny content! Loved this video, and tbh I thought you looked cute in everything, but you were definitely extra cute in that dress! ❤

As someone who works in tech and builds systems like that every day.
That is 100% an algorithm that gets quickly signed off by a human just before sending the pick options.
and it really shows. boring. safe. just like I would assume a robot processes info. there is no “getting out of the box/comfort zone” attempts like you’d see with an actual stylist. No surprise to see that robots made by geeks with no style are not that creative or cool.
The "human stylist" is probably just someone that picks if the item fits the description or not and makes the algorithm slightly better. Boring af

Totally! The thing about the picks getting better over time sold that idea to me. I noticed a lot of linen in the picks. Linen is probably classified under "casual"

Cantrona definitely!!!! She choose pretty standard things first but kept the more extravagant ones so I think that would be different a second time around. Also maybe a a video where she chooses the least expensive choice on the quiz and the most, to compare quality 🤔

I wish they had a "never" option because there were so many styles in that quiz that I would never even get close to wearing. Then again I'm ridiculously picky about my clothes so an online stylist box would never work for me because I'd return pretty much everything.
I'm tempted to try this or another one because it's so time-consuming for me to read all the details on a zillion items. I'd have to see what all the quiz & input options are because I'm hypersensitive to a lot of fabric types & I didn't see that on the quiz. That makes it difficult for anyone to buy clothes for me (people who occasionally get me gifts know not to buy me clothes unless it's something specific I've put on a wishlist).
@@del_eris I have a similar problem but my main issue is even though I kind of switch between styles pretty much daily based on my mood, I'm still very specific about the stuff I buy. Like my biggest issue is I would tell them I like black and colors and they would give me all muted stuff even though I only wear jewel tones. I have a hard enough time shopping for myself both in stores and online. I could never expect someone who's never even met me to get it right.

A little bit of info that Amazon probably doesn't want you to have: I was on a job recruiting site and the Amazon stylist job was on there, which means there are real people doing it. But it's also contract work so they're just churning people out approximately every year. So real people: yes. People well versed in fashion: probably not so much. If you keep the service it's probably a different person "styling" you every month.

@@leifang1211 I mean that's entirely possible. The job description was vague, but there are humans in the process somewhere. I'd guess it's closer to the algorithm showing the "stylist" a few dozen options or so and then they pick what gets sent to the customer. But it's also not exactly people passionate about clothes.

My mom has stitch fix and we’ve noticed that after about 5 months of her doing it she’s started loving more and more of the clothes they’ve sent. I think it takes a couple trip for them to understand you style preferences and body type

Yeah, you wouldn't want to send a first-time customer too many items outside their established like or love zone because then you'd risk losing them, especially since many of these personal stylist subscriptions' customers are doing it because they don't have time to shop or face other barriers there. So sending them a few items outside that zone is best to see how they respond to them first
Or, this could be due to Unconscious Bias, thinking that her outfits have been selected by an image stylist. What's important in clothes is not what we like, but how do they look on us and importantly if other people love that look too.

The stylist *did* play it safe and, personally, I wouldn't pay $4.99 a month for someone to recommend these boring ass clothes to me. She also said that she likes edgy style and boho style and she selected that she'd try any trend other than animal print or cropped pants so they had a lot of information to go off of.

i just dont understand these full stop. i feel like no matter how much detail you give someone, only you will know what you like. sure they can theme things, like theme a room to a specific style but each item wont be something YOU like. thus ending in every home looking like an ikea showroom

it's insane to me how basic items are so expensive just cause of the brand name. Like you could get the same product somewhere else for waaaaaaaaaaay less.

@@nelesophie174 I always use off brand, I had an ex who always used brand clothing, I can assure you /some/ brands are better quality than just buying the item from anywhere. I.e with t-shirts, a good quality fabric will dramatically diminish how much the smell of sweat sticks to it. With jeans, cheaper brands tend to lose shape easily. Shoes really vary on how comfortable they are.
However, not all expensive brands carry quality items. Also, there's a price point where the quality isn't getting any better but prices can still get more expensive.
After learning I could have better quality clothing by paying a bigger price.... I still buy cheap clothing 😂

I will be willing to spend more if I know it's quality. I would recommend to anyone just to research a little bit. Sustainable Fashion or find brands you like and read about them to see. There are some really cool brands who are focusing on sustainability and quality.

The etymology is hotly contested; the two origins that seem most likely are either (1) since most people are sleeping, graveyard shifts tend to be dark, quiet, lonely, and creepy....much like we think of a graveyard and (2) the % of workplace accidents & death is WAY higher during this shift, for a number of reasons: human bodies don't like to be nocturnal (there have been some studies that suggest night shifts may be carcinogenic), and human society is not set up to allow late shift workers to merely flip their entire schedule (the DMV won't be open when you're normally awake, the kids can't be picked up at daycare in the middle of the night, etc) so those workers are probably living with a messed up sleep schedule. Add that to reduced visibility outside, reduced numbers of workers for teamwork and aid in an emergency, and increased risks taken at jobs that have business or public hours to keep customers/public safe...the graveyard shift has put many people in their graves.

I would NEVER use Amazon for a clothing service. If I can't even trust that the hydro flask I bought is real, I can't trust that the picture of that cute skirt isn't going to show up to my house and be made out of paper

I bought a few clothing items during Christmas time. What I did was look at a ton of reviews to make sure the quality was good. Everything I received was really good quality but I did come across some items that had terrible reviews so I didnt bother with those.
Also, the owner treats his workers like shit.
They have gotten a little better over the years if you actually put in the time to search multiple options and read reviews/info. I do have to say though that they are the BEST place for books. You can get pretty much any book used for like $3.00-$10.00 and it ends up looking almost brand new 95% of the time.
