So I bought seven full outfits from Fashion Nova and wore them for a week to see if they were as good IRL as they looked on instagram. What do you think of my Fashion Nova clothing haul? Iv noticed whenever Saf orders online she always has problems with delivery time, its like she lives in some obscure place! She never is able to get next day and standard shipping takes up to 4 weeks with her. Weird. Im in the UK in a small town by Liverpool and get my orders no issue or early! So id have thought with her being in America and most suppliers being in America from where she orders from that she would be quicker than me.

I love how on every video where the woman happens to be not as skinny as a supermodel, there is at least one comment calling her "brave" and "omg she is so confident in her body" etc. Why wouldnt she be confident? Most people would agree that she is beautiful, of course she is confident.
@@westernspy8461 Its a good thing though.. most supermodels dont seem confident in their bodies whatsoever and are boderline anorexic, everyone knows that safiya has an amazing body and her body type is something that is beautiful nowadays(curvy body) and it took a long time to get to that so we should all be celebrating it.
@@westernspy8461 Well in their defense, a lot of girls are not confident in their bodies despite being a normal weight. Funny thing is, I was one of those girls, I was in the "normal" body weight range, yet my body build is rectangle shape, so I was always so uncomfortable in my own body and ashamed of it and wanted to be skinnier, especially in my waist (which I later learned was never going to happen no matter how much weight I lost). I slowly learned to accept myself and love my body, and I actually gained some weight since then and I could really care less now
So in conclusion, we shouldn't really blame the people who say things like the ones you quoted, but the media for teaching young kids that anything that isn't "normal" is ugly and not acceptable.

i can't stress enough how good it feels to see saf, a smart and really beautiful woman, in those clothes and just look like a normal person (not like those overly perfect instagram models) BUT STILL ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS
Anyone who knows more about anatomy sees how photoshopped they are... like, 95% of women have some hip dips. And only 8% have a hourglass figure. Seems like they mainly repost photoshop mistresses' pics, you know. Or maybe plastic surgery enthusiasts. (To butthurts, I'm not jealous, I don't personally want to be a parody of a woman)

The thing about fashionnova is that you need to have an specific body shape in order to look good. They are not only selling clothes, they sell a hole aesthetic.

I do agree with you but you can kind of say that about most clothing companies? Like I have a very hourgalss shape and I don’t have any jeans that fit me correct and I can’t get a lot of bottoms in general to fit because most companies design their clothes around very slim models and their body shapes

So most things are awkwardly tight in the thighs and hips and gaping in the waist. Basically clothes shopping is a nightmare. I love that way she talks and narrates her videos, it's so calming because I have auditory processing issues and because shes so articulate I dont actually have to work to understand and process what shes saying and it's a nice break.
I love listening to her videos while I'm doing idle homework, they're structured so academically (most of the time) that I dont have to focus too hard to make sense of anything.

Them not giving you a refund for the sunglasses is exactly what’s wrong with fashionnova. Such a shame bc they have some really cute stuff but their customer service and returns policy are terrible.
Agreed! I ordered a dress from them & didn't hear anything for 2 weeks so I emailed them and they said "it's actually sold out, it was never shipped" so I waited for 2 weeks for nothing and I never got my money back. They have super cute clothing but it's not worth the hassle

it might be worth fighting them on it, for example here in Aus the consumer law supercedes any user agreement and they would be violating it with some of those policies. So you may be entitled to better outcomes.

Nearly all of my clothes actually come from fashion nova, granted I don’t buy trench coats, more sweaters and jeans, but you can definitely get lots of day to day clothes.
I would argue that this isn't a new phenomenon. Many costumes for film are made specifically for film and not for real life. This could also be true for most noble women's fashions in Europe before the 20th century. Women wore corsets, heavy un-walkable dresses, and even dresses that would have your boobs spill out if you moved wrong. While it is interesting that in 2020 the average consumer can buy clothes that are just for instagram, I feel like it is unfair to say that our society is taking a nose dive downward simply because we like aesthetically pleasing, yet impractical clothes.
And honestly these fast fashion companies are SO wasteful. The clothes aren't made to last, and they're probably going to not be warn more than a year. I see clothes like this and I just think of the mass produced clothing that teenagers get hooked on and then move on the next month. They probably aren't ethical either, or quality, despite the prices..

safiya is literally such a genius youtuber/businesswomen, she knows how to push out intersting contents and also turn it into business and people wont even find it annoying, like it makes so much sense to make the frankenstine lisptcik into its own product bc ppl are curious and intersted, if the price is reasonablt (and i believ it will be) i think it def gonna sell well. not like some other youtubers just have merch all of a sudden and sell literally everything that are not relatable to them at all. I don't think people talk enough about how gorgeous Safiya is. She just has this intellectual, sort of dark academia aesthetic overall but she looks great in most anything. Her attitude is also so lovable and hilarious that it adds to the whole impression.

Joyce Bosmans Totally. I’d never buy from Fashion Nova, just based on how hard they push their ads. Twice, I’ve had mail-order clothing stolen from my front stoop and each time, the company I purchased from sent replacements or just gave me a merchandise credit if they couldn’t replace.
When I ordered, my package literally arrived almost a month later and they sent me the wrong jeans :(
After watching three of your videos i realized you’re the TH-camr I’ve always wanted, but never asked for. You’re so much more realistic than the other TH-camrs I watch and you don’t pretend you like clothes like everyone else. In all honesty it probably cost them pennies on the dollar to manufacture the sunglasses. So if they did refund/replace the sunglasses, all the money would be in shipping. And sadly companies are too greedy to do the right thing.

safiya and her editors (as well as tyler) are so genuinely talented.
not only is saf herself personable and charming, but the production of these videos is so high quality.
the cuts are well-timed, the content is well-dispersed, and everything is thought out.
many youtubers have at least a few videos that are made solely to gain views or keep up with a schedule-and it’s obvious. but i’ve never seen a video of saf’s that felt half-assed.
i’ve been watching her since her start at buzzfeed and it’s wonderful to see her talents truly applied without a corporate overlord filtering her content.
i love saf and can’t wait to see what she has for her audience in the years to come.

Lauren Poletti I’ve shopped there like 5-6 times and never had any issues with my shipping. I live in NYC and typically get my stuff in 4-5 days. So I’d say it’s worth checking out if you’re interested but definitely don’t bother with the next day shipping. That’s a damn joke

Fashion nova is the damn devil. Wasted my money paying for faster shipping, they refunded me a gift card instead of my money when they didnt actually have 2 things i ordered and a hand bag never came and they just seemed to not care.

Agreed, it's such a backhanded compliment.
Some people are ashamed of their own body, even if they are what is traditionally considered pretty. Being confident isn't about how you look, it's about how you think. A model could have low self esteem, while a non model could have high self esteem.
i think “omg she’s so confident in her body” is more about us being insecure about ourselves & knowing we couldn’t go out wearing the kinda clothes she does bc of it.
and “brave” is about going out wearing often “controversial” clothing - i.e. clothing that she’d know would garner stares and comments.. again, something we couldn’t do from insecurity.

Because we live in a very unrealistic beauty standard society, that forced feed us that we are NOT all beautiful, that you should look like _this_ and like _that_ and do whatever is necessary to do that. So it's cool to see someone being careless about all of that, being confident and happy, for many of us it's an amazing example.
@@s-aga yeah but when you call someone 'brave' simply for wearing somewhat revealing clothing you have to be honest that it will often be taken as a backhanded compliment and can potentially be a little hurtful. If I went out in a skimpy dress and someone said 'wow, you're so brave!' I would definitely not be pleased.

Yes mistakes happen but you have to make up for those mistakes, especially if you're a big business. My sister ordered from yesstyle and some of the creams were missing but when she complained to yesstyle, they sent her the cream with no shipping fee. Also customer relationship is one the most important aspect of a business. Good customer relationship helps with free promotion through word of mouth and thats very helpful to a business. Obviously fashionnova thinks it doesn't need to be good to customers because instagram bloggers have their back.

Also, they didn't send you sunglasses that you paid for and then refused to refund you because you didn't report it soon enough?!
