I think the biggest problem for years and years has been that parents are too busy working and raising their family to get too involved with politics, especially things that many thought weren't that important, like school boards. But now the pandemic has FORCED a-political parents to realize that elections truly do matter, and local elections are the most important!

Also, while parents aren't perfect and anything else one can say on that topic, yes, it's still true that unless due process has taken place to rescue kids from abusive parents ( hopefully with much prayer and wise elders leading the standards ), kids belong to their parents way more than they do to anyone else, and no one else is perfect or infallible either.
