Great show! I have played the game several times and i like the game very much. Now that i have discovered and seen the advanced rules, i will use them always in future plays.
Glad to see you took on the “advanced” rules for this playthrough. The game has some balance issues with those purple cards in starting hands and the trade boost for purple goods is also a nice addition. We also adopted the blocking rule for newly expanded industry, but instead of a blocking token, we just didn’t flip the tile to the usable side on our personal island until our turn.
I like all the advanced rules, look forward to the full expansion. Sounds like there will be lots of extras that will greatly augment an already great game. Possible game of the year? I read someone house ruled that Old or New World tile was cost of 2 gold to look at two tiles. I like that idea also. And by far, BEST THUMBS REQUEST ever! Could not hit the button fast enough. Edward, give that man a raise!
I really enjoy this game for some reason. It tickles my brain cells just the right way. Thanks for the playthrough, and we'll have to check out those advanced rules with my playgroup when we play next time.
I pre ordered this game. I didn't expect much because it's just a tableau of the Anno 1800 tech tree from the video game - simplified. It exceeds expectations and was even surprisingly fun. I still don't understand why such a simple system results in such a satisfying play. I feel like it's a guilty pleasure in board gaming because it's such a simple game. Good gaming, look forward to more videos!
I still don't play with the -2 points mission card. But i think I might like it. In some games you are basically done with all that you need/want, and then the game keeps going, cause you want to target the mission cards, and for me that slowed the game a little bit.
Great stream. As for the card that gives the penalty for cards in hand, I think you may have made a bigger deal out of it than was needed. Edward, who had no penalty got 3rd place so while it may have caused you to play differently, I'm not sure that it was warranted.

Great game! The suspense of when Martin saw his harbor wasn't the right side up on his player board was killing me BTW. At 1.47 he finally caught it😃
