The problem that all Aussies have with Haslab. Is the only real way we can get there items is through Zing, which almost double charges you for for what ever you back. Funny thing if you look at what location you are at, they ship basically all over Asia Europe and US. It sucks :(
That really sucks! I think we had a similar situation for the barge here in the U.K. but you would have thought several haslabs in they would have sorted that problem for you guys by now!?! Without any real explanation they've been telling us for decades that they'd NEVER do the Tonnika Sisters. Only in the past 15 or so years did they finally say that it was because of the likeness rights, but as has been revealed, they did what it took and made it happen - the story is probably far more complicated than just being about likeness rights, but we'll probably never know. I'm sure there was a small sum paid and look at us now. I've wanted those two since, well, forever, so this is a HUGE win!!
So many people are absolutely delighted by the announcement of the sisters. There’s no way this thing isn’t getting backed! This is what it’s all about! 💪🏼😎
The four armed guy we have had before twice once in white and once in silver, the sisters are really the only new figure, we have had all these figures
A lot of people have said that a 3D printer could do a better job. I would be genuinely interested in seeing a printed version of the Cantina. Many thanks for watching 👍👍
Alright, I'm just going to come out and say it. I think this is a fantastic Haslab!! Sure, would I love the price to be less - of course. But the fact is I think it's actually priced just as I would have anticipated & is offering almost everything I could want (where's that light kit though? And the droid detector sound feature?). But initially I wasn't not loving that they have a regular and deluxe as I thought it should have came with everything for the $399 price point. But thinking of it from a business standpoint, it may have been created as a $499 Haslab originally and someone internally said that it's $100 too much and we need to offer a version that's at the $399 price point to ensure that it funds, so a concession was made to have a lower price version available. So I guess in the end, we have options based on our budgets, so that's not terrible. As for what we're getting though - I think it's extremely detailed and I love the modular way you can move it around. I love all the little details & items that come with it. And I think the figure selection is amazing. I have no doubt that this will get backed in full and everyone will get all six figures. As you're well aware, I really don't collect modern or TVC, only occasionally picking up one or two here or there as they peak my interest. But I have to admit, this particular release has me pretty excited honestly. Especially knowing that they're doing a "Back to Tatooine" figure run (pipelines) soon after. (Is TVC getting its claws in me?) While I haven't committed to backing this one, the allure is certainly there for me. This is one of my favorite locations in all of Star Wars and one that always bring me back to my childhood fascination. All of the background characters and details are what kept me drawn into Star Wars & always wanting more from the galaxy. I wish I had more space to display this thing in the open. This is the #1 thing that holds me back as I know that most likely, this one will stay in its box and never be put out for display or play. But FOMO is real & this one is tempting me. And even though, for me, it likely stays in the box, I would probably be a sucker and get the deluxe one as I would undoubtedly regret not doing that at the time. 😂 I didn't watch the live stream as I was wrapped up, so I appreciate this overview and discussion. I may go back and see if I can watch the entire original stream video now (but that might just make me want to back it even more - 😅). Btw - #StarWarsCups. Hahaha And I am certain that Martyn will be backing 100%. Now, will he end up going deluxe? That's the real question. 😉

I must have those cardbacks but I think this will be my first real foray into creating an accurate recreation of a scene. I am now going to start going through my tubs of figures and pull out those cantina aliens and start preparing. 😉😎 I genuinely think this is one of those sets that people will regret not picking up. Martyn, you highlighting that they never played the cantina theme in that stream is a perfect metaphor on how the Star Wars team at Hasbro just constantly misses the mark on Star Wars items. Overall, I think the set is nice. It has flaws that it won't fit on a standard shelf and they should add an extra tier to offer a modernized Blue Snaggletooth. The vintage set, if you purchased it from Sears back in the day, came with a Blue Snaggletooth and it would be a cool homage to the vintage set. There's still time Hasbro!!!! I never thought Hasbro would make the Tonnika sisters. They were rumored around 2010 when they were making the other bar set pieces (were to come with the center curved sections) but I figured if they couldn't make them in what was a golden age for modern Star Wars collectors, I thought they were permanently out of reach. I've never been so happy wo be wrong in my life! I'm still on the fence about getting this, I'm still not sure where I'm going to put the Ghost. But I look at my Razor Crest and I'm awfully tempted. I also believe that all of these figures will be available in the main line on different card backs. 😁

For those people that didn’t want to display it in its modular layout (unless you made the floor modular too) I think you could certainly get some interest. While I do think it will be back I’m not certain looking at the numbers that all the tiers will get backed.
I could not be happier with this Haslab- definitely in for 2 of them despite the lack of space and money! Really like the modular aspect so I can literally just display single booths if need be. Regarding the cantina music- that is owned by Sony as far as I am aware- so to use it even in the presentation, Hasbro would have to pay money to Sony.

Excellent overview and discussion guys, really enjoyed your assessment of the Haslab. Like you I feel it’s a bit overpriced for what it is especially considering there’s no floor. I’m also thinking of backing the basic as just don’t have space anytime display the deluxe together. Love all the figures, really want those, although I am surprised they didn’t include Hem Dazon as he’s possibly the most iconic of the Cantina patrons. Extremely excited to see those pipelines and finally some better legs for Chewie. I’m going to give it some thought before backing, I’ve already had the tape measure out 🤣😂

Just a thought, regarding the cost, with £210 for the Jabbas palace. Is the Cantina twice the size, so twice the price? I think it is (and another £100 with the deluxe is probably fair with this thinking?) As long as the exclusive figures get released in the VC mainline I'd be happy. A you obviously want them displayed with this set.

Where do we put the 7 piece band? I just can't on this one. It's just not doing it for me . I'm a little interested as well like yourself but I just can't make sense of the fact we will have over a thousand dollars in haslabs we don't have?
I am struggling to raise the money for this before the time runs out. I really would like it but as you say with the Ghost on the way too it’s going to be a pricey prospect. Its a lovely piece, but realistically, how many people will be able to display this? For this sort of money I dont understand people who just buy them and then keep it in storage and say its an investment. More money than sense if you ask me, but thats just my opinion. Look forward to seeing people actually display it though but not for me.

Really great overview and discussion. I'm personally going for deluxe and going to split the display so I can have the side on view, also looking to use external door for Mos Eisley street . I think I'm happy to use older Greedo as stand in until they release new sculpt in mainline and sell the exclusive cardback to fund the deluxe upgrade. Wuher has been released several times holding cup in 5 POA (Comm Talk Green cards, Saga line) so can see a few of these on secondary market as he only needs to stand behind the bar. Not sure I'll squeeze the band into an alcove because they didn't show that but just used the 35% discount to pick that up on pulse. Recently found you guys and enjoying the videos!
Really appreciate the support my friend! My knowledge of the POTF2 and those early lines isn’t the best so thanks for reminding me about the older Wuher releases. There’s so many to remember 😂. It’s a great idea to sell off some of the carded figures to fund future releases if you aren’t too bothered about them! I look forward to seeing everyone’s displays when this eventually comes. @@alongandlongtimeago I'm thinking I may do some lighting, one of the main reasons I think they didn't include floor. Also because of the modular design having to keep removing the floor would have weakened. I'm now trying to fill in gaps in figures I'm missing hoping some of the TVC 1.0 might get released.
I am not getting it because the G.I. Joe Haslab is later this month but I will say I was dissapointed that the offering didnt come with a band. It could have been the dancing blue elephant guy or just another random musical star from starwars but seriously a cantena without a band is just sad. :( That is why they didnt play cantena music, they forgot the band at home! lol:D

I think they followed the movie blueprints a little too closely compared to play logic. The band weren’t actually on set for principal filming and stuck in later as a close up with no sense of geography to the actual scene. There was no stage or anything. That said they could have stuck a removable platform in one of the alcoves though. If you buy the standard it’s a bit cramped. If you deluxe you can get them in
Great review guys. Regarding licensing rights, whomever owns the property owns those rights. Carrie Fisher once joked that every time she looks in the mirror she owes George Lucas $5(!) Also, logically speaking, if permission from every actor was needed to produce a figure, that would be a tough slog. The actress who played Leesub Sirln in the Cantina - Pam Rose - never knew she had a figure until a friend phoned her and told her.
(Martyn) - I remember that skit from Carrie Fisher… it was the AFI lifetime achievement award ceremony wasn’t it? 🤣 I think I was getting confused by something someone told me about the Tonnika sisters but alas both they and I as it turns out were wrong 🤣🤣 Love that story about Pam Rose! The thing to remember is that the figures are based on the characters in the film, and the actors playing them don’t really have a say…unless something was inked in their contracts and they are really big stars. I remember that Charleton Heston had something in his contract when he did Planet of the Apes that stated he would get any merchandising approval for his likeness. That’s why MEGO did not make his figure back in the 70’s. That’s all settled now and you can get a Taylor figure. Not sure where that ‘likeness rights’ thing started, but it’s a myth that spread like crazy. Cheers from the USA! 🇺🇸

Yeah I expect some people will. Like we said, people will back this knowing they can make a profit selling those figs on the second hand market. Haslab pricing has gotten out of control and with star wars it's always vintage collection, 6 inch scale Rancor sounds good on paper but unrealistic, now a black series 6 inch tie fighter or advanced and an x-wing for $200 to $250 with like flight stands and alternate wings for stretch goals they'd hit every one! Hell they've already got like half the mold already for a 6 inch scale tie fighter!

Think it is a waste of money. I am an original collector, So my figures could not really use them chairs. The price is way too high. You could make most of this from 3D printing and just random items. Rather wish then had done the Sandcrawler instead. I don't see a space for the band either.
I am shocked there is nowhere for the band 🤯 I’ve heard the excuse that it was filmed separately so was never in the original blueprints but come on it’s one of the most iconic moments from the scene. Appreciate you watching 🙏👍🙏👍
Lego and haslab just take each others ideas and repurpose them to fit their figures. The lego cantina is superior, but the haslab ghost is superior... that's why I bought the haslab ghost and have the lego cantina.

I am struggling to raise the money for this before the time runs out. I really would like it but as you say with the Ghost on the way too it’s going to be a pricey prospect. An area for the band seems like a real miss but probably can be sorted via our display….. hopefully 🤞

Its a lovely piece, but realistically, how many people will be able to display this? For this sort of money I dont understand people who just buy them and then keep it in storage and say its an investment. More money than sense if you ask me, but thats just my opinion. Look forward to seeing people actually display it though but not for me.

Really great overview and discussion. I'm personally going for deluxe and going to split the display so I can have the side on view, also looking to use external door for Mos Eisley street . I think I'm happy to use older Greedo as stand in until they release new sculpt in mainline and sell the exclusive cardback to fund the deluxe upgrade. Wuher has been released several times holding cup in 5 POA (Comm Talk Green cards, Saga line) so can see a few of these on secondary market as he only needs to stand behind the bar. Not sure I'll squeeze the band into an alcove because they didn't show that but just used the 35% discount to pick that up on pulse. Recently found you guys and enjoying the videos!

My knowledge of the POTF2 and those early lines isn’t the best so thanks for reminding me about the older Wuher releases. There’s so many to remember 😂.
It’s a great idea to sell off some of the carded figures to fund future releases if you aren’t too bothered about them!

@@alongandlongtimeago I'm thinking I may do some lighting, one of the main reasons I think they didn't include floor. Also because of the modular design having to keep removing the floor would have weakened. I'm now trying to fill in gaps in figures I'm missing hoping some of the TVC 1.0 might get released.
I am not getting it because the G.I. Joe Haslab is later this month but I will say I was dissapointed that the offering didnt come with a band. It could have been the dancing blue elephant guy or just another random musical star from starwars but seriously a cantena without a band is just sad. :( That is why they didnt play cantena music, they forgot the band at home! lol:D

I think they followed the movie blueprints a little too closely compared to play logic. The band weren’t actually on set for principal filming and stuck in later as a close up with no sense of geography to the actual scene. There was no stage or anything. That said they could have stuck a removable platform in one of the alcoves though. If you buy the standard it’s a bit cramped. If you deluxe you can get them in
Great review guys. Regarding licensing rights, whomever owns the property owns those rights. Carrie Fisher once joked that every time she looks in the mirror she owes George Lucas $5(!) Also, logically speaking, if permission from every actor was needed to produce a figure, that would be a tough slog. The actress who played Leesub Sirln in the Cantina - Pam Rose - never knew she had a figure until a friend phoned her and told her.

The thing to remember is that the figures are based on the characters in the film, and the actors playing them don’t really have a say…unless something was inked in their contracts and they are really big stars. I remember that Charleton Heston had something in his contract when he did Planet of the Apes that stated he would get any merchandising approval for his likeness. That’s why MEGO did not make his figure back in the 70’s. That’s all settled now and you can get a Taylor figure. Not sure where that ‘likeness rights’ thing started, but it’s a myth that spread like crazy. Cheers from the USA! 🇺🇸

Figures behind a paywall....I do not collect ships and sets. Also,if people want the bartender and tonnika sisters...they likely will want 2 of each...
Yeah I expect some people will. Like we said, people will back this knowing they can make a profit selling those figs on the second hand market. But a lot of people think they’ll be released on different cardbacks anyway in the future so that’ll have to be the best option for some people! 🤷🏼♂️

Haslab pricing has gotten out of control and with star wars it's always vintage collection, 6 inch scale Rancor sounds good on paper but unrealistic, now a black series 6 inch tie fighter or advanced and an x-wing for $200 to $250 with like flight stands and alternate wings for stretch goals they'd hit every one! Hell they've already got like half the mold already for a 6 inch scale tie fighter!
I feel like a black series X-wing would be great even though I don’t really collect bs. Couldn’t see them doing it for $250 though! I expect it would be closer to 350! I can’t say I follow the pricing on that stuff🤷🏼♂️

Think it is a waste of money. I am an original collector, So my figures could not really use them chairs. The price is way too high. You could make most of this from 3D printing and just random items. Rather wish then had done the Sandcrawler instead. I don't see a space for the band either.
I am shocked there is nowhere for the band 🤯 I’ve heard the excuse that it was filmed separately so was never in the original blueprints but come on it’s one of the most iconic moments from the scene. Appreciate you watching 🙏👍🙏👍

Lego and haslab just take each others ideas and repurpose them to fit their figures. The lego cantina is superior, but the haslab ghost is superior... that's why I bought the haslab ghost and have the lego cantina.
