On 9/29/21 I ordered two repro Skystriker missiles from MARS Industries. They were never received. He promised a refund that was never sent either. That experience kept me from supporting the Airwolf campaign. And I badly wanted to do so.

At this point, I almost feel like talking about independent creators, and especially crowd funds and pre-orders, needs to start coming with the same kind of disclaimer that ME, VR, and WDWPro do when they talk about stock prices in relationship to entertainment companies: "We are not giving financial advice; please seek the advice of your own personal financial consultant." So, if I do talk about crowdfunds, I will disclaim, "I am buying into this because I want it, but I am NOT advocating that you do. Crowdfunds come with a degree of risk and I will not be responsible for anyone but myself potentially losing their investment. Caveat emptor." That being said, I got in on a crowdfund for an independent maker who 3D printed the entire Star Wars Cantina because I got tired of waiting for one from Hasbro that may never come. Well, it leaked this week that Hasbro's next HazLab will be such a Cantina, though apparently in the style of the freeze chamber and ship hallways where you need TWO to make one complete set. I'm very satisfied with that independent creator and will most like not bother with the HazLab.
@@opticracer3927 To be fair, any information we have about the pending Hasbro Cantina is speculation based one screen-grab showing a bar, entryway, and alcoves on just one side, but TWO tiers; a regular and a deluxe. Michael, this is one of youe best videos. You had the decency and courage to record this video and tell it like it is. No, you are NOT to be blamed because it is not your fault that this Airwolf kickstarter went down, that blame squarely goes to Conrad / Mars Industries. The problem is, the clients have been let down and they need a scapegoat, it doesn't make it right but it is understandable. Many years ago, I recalled reading an article about a store that sold video games at a town in which the locals began to complain when the store released a violent video game featuring a poster with a big gun front and center, and yet these same people never raised hell about the local gun store that was located down the street. Talk about double standards! LOL! Hence, it's always easier to blame the poster than attacking the source. When a TH-cam channel calls out Hasbro's quality issues, HasBROS blame the TH-cam Channel. Kinda puts the Mattel/Hasbro cross sell of Barbie Monopoly and Hot Wheels Transformers in a different light, doesn't it. These companies are NOT YOUR FRIENDS! They will sell you out for whatever they want.
Kickstarter by nature is a dice roll just like any other business venture. It's not your fault or any TH-camrs fault for any business fallings. Ever since Kickstarter came about fans have had a hard time swallowing the fact that this is what it means to be an investor in the corporate world sometimes it works out & most times it doesn't. 😐
This was different. This particular guy played everyone from the beginning. His intention was ONLY to produce enough merchandise to fool people and stall for as much time as possible. Then disappear.
That Air Wolf actually bled. That Air Wolf was as sloppy as the REAL Jan Micheal Vincent. The only thing close to decent on that campaign was the box, and even that kinda fell short. WOW. Sorry everyone. That’s crazy. That’s Kick Starter sometimes…
It works out better when the big companies do their crowd funding projects. Less risk and the reward is pretty great. I have the barge and the HISS tank. Both superb projects
600 for the THIRD highest package. Damn. By the way, who the hell are these lunatics blaming you? I love this channel, always have. Some people are just dirtbags.
@hereiam6149 He's also given "free advertising" to television shows and toylines that were canceled in the '80s. Is he responsible for that? If RetroBlasting talks about a movie trailer before the film comes out, by your logic, he's responsible if the movie is garbage. You have zero logic and no argument.
I forgot the Michael Mercy had done a video before you had Mike .Both videos was awesome . Mike you are no monster good buddy. You're videos have always been so cool and keep doing what you do bud l personally enjoy them .
I don't know if the Kickstarter campaign was updated or there is some other kind of explanation for why it says this but it the funding period for the Kickstarter was between Aug 28 2021 - Sep 27 2021 and checking the upload date your video went up on the Sep 24 2021. I personally don't think you owe people anything if it wasn't a paid promotion but according to the dates it suggests you uploaded before the kickstarter ended.
This was not a paid promotion. As he showed, he paid $600 to help fund this thing. And the Kickstarted was announced to have funded on September 8, 2021.
@@timothyward8695 Yes I'm not disputing the fact the video was not a paid promotion, the only part of the video I'm disputing the statement that he uploaded his video after the end of the kickstarter which does not appear to be the case as far as I can tell.
Your video came out on 24 September 2021, and the Kickstarter ended on 27 September 2021. In the video, you even mentioned it was still running. Think the lessons learned here are a reminder that backing a kickstarter is not a guarantee of delivery, and everyone should be far more cautious, even when the "rewards" look so good.
The point I was making is that I wasn't on the front end of the Kickstarter funding period. There also wasn't a lot of time left on it, which is all I truly remember.
@@timothyward8695 Was going off the stated 30 day funding period, which was August 28 2021 - Sep 27 2021. I have no idea if one was able to back after September 8th.
I am glad that you did the video on the Mars Airwolf. It was so cool and would have been cool to get and put on the Flag. I would have like to get it I just couldn't afford it. Maybe someday someone will try and get this made hopefully.
@@alphatrion100 No, because I understand how kickstarter works. The biggest problem with kickstarter is that people do not take the 3 minutes to realize that when they pledge to something, they might as well wave their money goodbye, they make a gamble on a product and there are no refunds.
@@alphatrion100unfortunately it probably got all used up trying to make the final product. There is a big difference between 1 prototype and a semi mass produced item.
Sorry you’ve got flak for something that you invested in (not endorsed or promoted, there’s a difference you simpletons!!). I sincerely hope you get your money back Mr French sir. As far as this viewer is concerned, Retroblasting is the pinnacle of honesty & Integrity. Long may that continue.
Manufacturing is hard. Just to drive it home, I'll take one aspect: its profit margins. It's not like digital media, where the disk costs pennies to make. No; I manufactured a toy invention that I patented, not too dissimilar to many kickstarters financially, and the manufacturing of everything adds up huge. The profit margin per sale of each product was pennies. Companies have to sell thousands to earn a worthy business. (The next time you see a big, big company (not this kickstarter venture) ...virtue signaling or violating safety laws or covering up something illegal or acting maliciously, ...perhaps resist from thinking it's pure greed or evil, but evil and greed mixed in with carelessness and desperation!)
let's get some facts straight, it's a kickstarter, they come with some risks. The dude tried a very ambitious project, very very ambitious! He delivered batches of DYI 3d print kits, and got so many harassment it burned him down... Am I sad I lost money on this and didn't get the project, yes. Am I mad at the dude? So and so, but in the end it was a risk I took, and this guy ain't a scammer, he tried!!!!
Retroblasting is not to blame!!! The guy that decided to do the kickstarter is to blame 1000% as much as i don't like him i agree Warrior Poet is not to blsme either.
$600+ is crazy money. Skeletron is doing a roboskull for half that. No wonder people are p*ssed Don't let the haters get you down, tho Michael. Angry people looking for someone to blame.
I wonder how much of this fuss is due to the many unethical TH-camrs who do not disclose any financial arrangement they have with a person or company they are discussing/promoting on their channel. Some viewers wrongly assume that you are another one of those hacks instead of being one of the few unbiased and ethical people on the platform.
I don't see how anyone with even half a brain could blame anyone but instigator if they take a gamble on a kick starter product and it doesn't pan out. Not your fault at all.
Retroblasting did nothing wrong, and some other business fails is not your fault. Who are these people blaming you? They should come to The Bronx and understand the meaning of getting blame for something they never did. We support you and know you did nothing wrong.
at this rate I would imagine a Playmobil version would be made. considering they've already hit some the 80's classics. Ecto-1 ,Kitt ,A-team van and James Bond Austin Martin.
I'm kind of new to your channel, given the number of years you've been up, and I heard you mention the Airwolf project. You also mentioned Stan Solo, Ramen Toys, The Fans Strike Back, Mattey Collector, Haslab, and Mattel Creations. All exist in some type of crowdfunding. I decided to back Stan Solo, and not the other's still going. I'm a grown ass man, and made the best educated decision, based on risk versus cost. I've given Stan Solo over $600 so far. Some were pre-orders. Any person attempting to blame this channel is looking for a cope, and they need to focus on the real villian. Not you.
As I stated in the video (which I assume you haven't watched) ...........................................................................................................................................
@@erik352Nope. Kickstarter is deliberately structured to put all the risk on you, the hopeful consumer. There’s a reason the term “Kickscam” is a thing.
It's absurd that anyone would blame you for this debacle. Mars Toys is 100% to blame. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this crap. Babymen make this hobby exhausting.
Some people NEED a scapegoat, and it doesnt matter how tangentially you are related to the problem. Kickstarter is a gamble, and sadly this one came up snake eyes. I hope you and everyone involved gets some measure of closure/redress, in the meantime I'll continue watching and enjoying Retroblasting
Question: does anybody have information on Michael’s display cabinets? There was a studio tour done a few years ago and I remember him talking about where he got his display cases from. I’m about to install display cases and I would like to use something like what he has. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
When I was four. I Flushed my 3.75" new Chewbacca down the pipe... Somehow I know.. it's your fault!! Just remember it's like my dad used to say.. there's three types of people in this world.. the ones that can do math.. & the ones that can't..
Not your fault for just reporting the toy news, and being excited about a project. The jerks are always going to be the loudest. Unfortunately society is always going to have thieves as well.
I didnt back it but we all wanted it to succeed and get made. you can tell Michael wanted it to get made and this isnt his or the channel's fault. We all understand the frustration and being upset at losing that money but please put the blame where it belongs.
I remember watching the live stream in the hopes of an actual Airwolf for sale. Your sharing that information with us, whilst speaking with the creator was really cool. How you are able to tolerate the abuse is beyond me.. I have nothing but the greatest of respect and appreciation for Retroblasting, and for your integrity. Anyone who says otherwise has somewhat unfortunately been unable to grow into adulthood since the genus of these amazingly creative ideas, and cultural icons that we can now celebrate. Everyone with half a brain cell is on your side. Please keep going Sir.
The Aoshima 1/48 die cast version wasn't bad. I'd love to see a company with proven engineering skill, such as Sentinel or one of the companies producing 3rd party Transformers, try their hand at this.
Ahhhhh your not to blame. You reported earlier on this to let the creator of the Air Wolf explain the delays and the road blocks. You or your channel is not to blame. Keep doing what you do. Your content is absolutely appreciated.
Kick starter doesn't care about projects or the backers once they get their money. By their own policy creators are supposed to keep backers updated, but they don't hold them accountable.
You seem honest. Thanks for clarifying. If you're ever in my neck of the woods (Arizona) I'm happy to buy you a beer. It's tough to speak to these things... but I like how you stood up and took it. Like a man. Best.
Hey Mike, You and I had met before, many times from the toy shows. I recall this project when I had been asked to join it to be the figure, Painter. the figures I painted I still wish were the finished ones. . I am saddened about the loss of the project, I never saw any payment for what I was able to do, other than produce the mockup painted 3d Solid figures of Kait, Hawk and Dom and the lizard along with Archangel. I do not blame you man; you did nothing but review a then amazing opportunity that we never received. I was proud of the figure paints, lizard creation and all the work I did do on my end. Mad that I got shafted too and not kept on the project. Now to learn last few days of you getting roasted for the failure of Mars Industries. Never should have come to your door. I got some blaming me too, I had nothing to do with the company turn belly under or over. I was merely a pawn in the play. I can't say much because I barely knew much. Thank you for addressing this issue. I like you also out 600.00 and I am still without a shirt or my patch, figures or finished bird.
Since those people are talking about you talking about the toy maker, I now blame them for the company folding. 😂 I blame RetroBlasting for BlockBuster going out of business, because you talk about videos.🤔🤪 People are so stupid for blaming people who are commentators. Keep up the great videos, RetroBlasting!!!
I didn’t wanna like the video, because it’s all bad news. Would’ve been really cool to see it come to fruition, but there’s no way anyone should be blaming you! You were clearly just an enthusiastic fan who wanted to have something cool! I hope you get your money back, and I really hope someone decides to do the dang thing! I would’ve loved to have had it on my shelf too.
Canadian Warrior Poet. Classic, and I think, apt. I like his channel and in general I think his reviews are well done and fair. Then again, so are yours. Sorry for the attacks you're suffering. I think you explained and defended your position well.
What terrible news I hate when a kickstarter fails. I lost money on the paladium games robotech kickstarter I didn't get all of the stuff I ordered. I was really wanting to back this project and I almost did back it. I am glad that I did not back it. If I had backed it and lost money I would not blame Retroblasting because the blame is on M.A.R.S. industries. It is a shame what happened with this failed kickstarter. Retroblasting does not need to be put to the fire for this. Lastly, I would like to say that Kickstarter is always a risk!
I would have supported this had I known about it since me and my Dad love Airwolf and Jan Michael Vincent piloting it. I would have loved to see Dad's joy holding it if he was still alive today and if the project was successful.
Lot of people promising more than they can deliver. I work in publishing and we get tons of that from people who’s going to write the next big thing, but they never deliver.
There seems to have been an update today (15th May)... "A manufacture has stepped up and offered to keep the project alive and fulfill all orders..." I have no skin in this game, but this Airwolf did look cool, so hopefully something can be saved.
This is why I didn't back the Roboskull mkII. While it looks like they're still making progress, it's been just as long as the Airwolf. I'm still interested, but I won't be ordering until I see a good review of a finished version. For as much shit as Hasbro gets over Haslab, I feel much more comfortable preordering with them.
I wish you did the Haslab for the HISS tank. i know you dont like doing that stuff with big companies but you would have got it and i think you would have liked it.
The internet is full of neanderthals and the worst of them are toy collectors. Blaming you for the Mars Industry failure is a smooth brained reaction from them. I hope you get a refund, and I hope everyone that backed it does.
People with common sense will know you have nothing to do with this debacle. These are the same type of people that go out of their way to attack Scott. It's a vendetta and it's all personal.
Are you referring to Scott Neitlich, because if you are.... You picked the wrong person to convey THAT sentiment to, man. Scott has not treated this channel well and took multiple first shots at me over the years before I even knew who he was... so I don't have much sympathy for him and his garbage.
You're dealing with overgrown children that got burned due to their own choices & now they want someone to blame but it has nothing to do with you. No mote than a magazine is held responsible for an ad they run.
Michael has done his best to find out what has happened with this kickstarter even getting the man responsible to answer those people who backed it who else searched for answers
Michael hasn’t done anything to find out what’s going on with Mars since his video with the conman. . There is verifiable information easily obtainable about Conrad Murphy. The guy is a crook.
I have another small channel i started showing 2024 Hot Wheels and Matchbox .. because i talked about and showed some upcoming stire exclusives, i had a dude who went off on me saying..."I watched your video and went to 6 stores, i couldn't find any of these!!!" Just like you said, im in no way apart of Mattel and only talked about info Mattek themselves released. I think people find it easier to go after some people because of the accessibility...and or, some people are just nuts in general
Great vid. Not sure why, but this is a human nature thing for many. If I order a pizza and it's late to arrive or the toppings are wrong, suddenly everyone looks to me as the responsible person as if I made the pizza. All I did was place the order!
Michael, if TH-camrs pointing out the obvious, commentating like “armchair generals” had any direct influence on anything… 1) All Colorado sports teams could send the ball in the correct direction. 2) GM would never have had to kill off Pontiac. 3) Daytrading would be clear and transparent, with lower risk and market volatility. So many of us tune into you and Melinda not because we’re toy collectors or fans, but because we appreciate the voice of reason you reflect. If any startup toy manufacturer wants to throw a temper tantrum and blame you, it’s not you! I used to do business consulting, and while you don’t have to be a genius to make a successful business, you can’t get away with a horrible cash conversion cycle, too shallow a GMROI, or too high a debt to equity ratio just by Robert Preston swagger. I just had to rain on someone else’s small business dreams last week (you can’t open a restaurant with no menu and no money).
This is really sad news. Even though I did not back the kickstarter or pre-ordered it, a 1:18 Airwolf with figures would have a dream toy for me as a kid growing up in the 80s. I love Airwolf and I would have begged for something like this for Christmas. Just a damn shame it couldn't get made and I hope RB can do a proper autopsy of what went wrong as more information comes out.
Not your fault Michael. Whoever says that is not right in the head. You showed us something cool and we had the OPTION of backing it. Kickstarter/crowdfunding in general is always a gamble, so there’s always a risk. It’s a pity, but that’s life. Love Retroblasting, F the haters.
I just don't get why people are blaming someone who has nothing involved in the process other then providing news on it. Hang in there RB Team, and keep up the good work.
I knew nothing about the air wolf, until I saw your video. That being said I went to back it and it was over and was like dam I missed it. Stay the course sir you are above reproach and your credibility remains steadfast! Thank you for all you do!
Based on the logic used by some people, I need a refund from The Roger Ebert estate for a slew of crappy movies I sat through in the 80s and 90s. I want those ticket fees and hours of my life back. 😅
You sir are a man of honor and integrity. I considered buying an air wolf after seeing your original video, but I didn’t. If I had I would not have blamed you for my big boy decision. I appreciate your excitement about new things and I’m sorry the air wolf guy ruined it for others. Keep up the great work
Gotta say, I've watched, and enjoyed your content almost since the beginning, and still watch. I definitely disagree with things you've said and done in the past, but I still respect you as a person with a right to your opinion and such. No one is perfect. A big section of that group needs to stop their obsessive hate for you. Yeah, you made a video talking about a product you were excited for, at the time. That's nothing to apologize for. If you had said "Everyone, go back this now, and go get it", then maybe I'd see their point. But I've watched you long enough to know that's not something you do. They're just trying to find crap to cover you in even more.
How should I know? I've only said Super7's action figures are overpriced and their design and assortment strategies are bad. I've never said they're going down.
I think I've finally figured out why I love this channel and truly enjoy most of what Michael has to say. It's not that complex... I take toys seriously, and most of my family and friends give me shit for it. I think that the world in general basically looks down its nose at us, the adult toy collectors. RetroBlasting is so damn serious about everything that he talks about. I love it! Thanks man, keep it up!
Im sorry you've had to deal with this Michael, why are they blaming you you didnt make it It's this modern society blame someone else not yourself and its sad Keep making awesome work Michael
I don’t blame you for anything you haven’t done. I buy what I want ( for better or for worse), and would never dream of attacking a reviewer. I understand that you are a reviewer with your own likes and dislikes. I don’t agree with all your reviews and favorite companies, but I respect your opinion. I respect your honesty, despite our difference in opinions.
It's kind of funny how people are just not willing to be held accountable for their actions or problems. I see your TH-cam page where you don't candy coat things. That is what We expect, just the fact from past toy to some Modern. That is why I watch your TH-cam
This kind of thing is really a black eye for all small makers. I have my own business making suits, we are a crew of 4 in New York we always deliver (have done for 15 years) but we have seen people come and go many times in our space because they are just not professional and do not deliver or downright fold before they complete orders. It's tempting and right to back small business, but people like this just hold others back. This is not your fault at all.
I work in manufacturing collectibles and this project was doomed - especially with fluctuations in shipping to the US, random tooling fees etc... Not Retroblastings fault, just a project that was not as well planned as it should have been and a bit of lack of transparency into what needs to go into a project of this size.

I don't blame you for anything and I love your channel. Continue what you do man!
I was in Drew G.'s livestream chat on Saturday! Sorry to hear that you're getting blamed! Some people can be just mean! It wasn't your fault!
It's left the same taste in the mouth as the 4th season did.
We don't speak of the 4th season lol

It works out better when the big companies do their crowd funding projects. Less risk and the reward is pretty great. I have the barge and the HISS tank. Both superb projects

@@timothyward8695 Yes I'm not disputing the fact the video was not a paid promotion, the only part of the video I'm disputing the statement that he uploaded his video after the end of the kickstarter which does not appear to be the case as far as I can tell.
so i ordered the kit version after the kickstarter on march 2023 and have not heard anything since. Do i have any options? 275.00 ish so disappointed.
The kickstarter page declared it funded on *SEPTEMBER 8, 2021.*
@@timothyward8695 Was going off the stated 30 day funding period, which was August 28 2021 - Sep 27 2021. I have no idea if one was able to back after September 8th.

I had money in this project, but that is just how it goes with kickstarter, you take a chance and might lose it all.
Ever wondered where your money is now?
@@alphatrion100 No, because I understand how kickstarter works.
The biggest problem with kickstarter is that people do not take the 3 minutes to realize that when they pledge to something, they might as well wave their money goodbye, they make a gamble on a product and there are no refunds.

No wonder people are p*ssed
Don't let the haters get you down, tho Michael.

So does this mean there's a possibility that LEGO will make an AIRWOLF set? And it needs to be gigantic, at least five thousand pieces.
at this rate I would imagine a Playmobil version would be made. considering they've already hit some the 80's classics.
Not you.
What will happen to you and all the backers of the project now that it wasn't fullfilled? Will you get your money back? Just curious.

The Aoshima 1/48 die cast version wasn't bad. I'd love to see a company with proven engineering skill, such as Sentinel or one of the companies producing 3rd party Transformers, try their hand at this.

Kick starter doesn't care about projects or the backers once they get their money. By their own policy creators are supposed to keep backers updated, but they don't hold them accountable.

I blame RetroBlasting for BlockBuster going out of business, because you talk about videos.🤔🤪
People are so stupid for blaming people who are commentators.

"A manufacture has stepped up and offered to keep the project alive and fulfill all orders..."
I have no skin in this game, but this Airwolf did look cool, so hopefully something can be saved.
I'm sorry you are going through this mess. Your video made me interested in the airwolf but it was too expensive for me at the time.
6:36 Even if you were promotiing something the individual listener should think for themselves and make their own decisions.
pretty sure Retro Blasting knows where Jimmy Hoffa is. I blame them entirely such is my defectiveness.
Was that Michael Mercy's voice? I watch so many collector channels I can't tell.
yup
Also, the airwolf would have been cool. Pitty it went belly up.
It's beyond asinine that anyone would hold you responsible for the Airwolf failure. Keep doing what you're doing!
Michael, if TH-camrs pointing out the obvious, commentating like “armchair generals” had any direct influence on anything…
1) All Colorado sports teams could send the ball in the correct direction.
Kickstarter is like gambling. You win some (Bossfight). You lose some (Hellscramerz). I backed both
This is really sad news.
This kind of stuff is why I don't interact with the collecting community.

Sorry you have to deal with these accusations Michael, it’s absurd. I value and appreciate your content, thank you.
Wasn't everyone saying that this is what was going to happen with Ramen Toy? (And is Super 7 heading in that direction too?)
Im sorry you've had to deal with this Michael, why are they blaming you you didnt make it
