I just can’t do the Redguard.
I totally get it. I have used some others but I have mostly used redguard for over 20 years. It has never once let me down. People give me shit for still using concrete board as well. But after not one failed shower in 20 years it's been hard to switch. Maybe I'd feel better going to a kerdi class or hydroban
@@a-craftmans-touch1641 I still use backer board and do mud float walls as well. I’m not a fan of foam. Redguard has a poor adhesion. I can’t speak to your work. I’m 27 years in the tile trade and I can tell you that 100% of the time. When I tear a shower that has redguard it’s been leaking for quite a while and the damage is always there from water. It never fails. I’m glad you’ve had great luck with it. I don’t hear that often.
@Apexjasonmorganllc I'd also think grout plays a factor. The stuff I use doesn't usually crack. Corners get silocone. I think alot of people don't apply it right to the instructions but who knows. That's something I would be willing to change if it has that big of problems. Still iffy on foam. I'm way kore likely to switch the membrane
@@a-craftmans-touch1641 Redguard doesn’t adhere well. Put head to head with other brands it lower on the scale
How long was this tile job shown in real time?
For me it's longer than normal. I had some kids and since then I have been working 4-6 hours a day. But usually I can demo a shower and have it ready to go in 2 weeks. This one took me 2 months but like I said I'm working half days and take some days off. Depends on the kids and what needs to be done around the house
