Just thought I’d say your videos, content, production and delivery is far beyond what you would expect for a new channel. It comparable to very large channels. I’ve no doubt you will have a huge following if you keep the content coming 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I am a happy user of the Aston spirit, But I am thinking of getting an Aston origin as well. I find myself cutting the lows of my acoustic and my voice as soon as I add bass guitar and drums to the mix. The origin would need less EQ correction. I would like my female vocalist to try out the spirit because it’s full sound adding some umph to the low end
Are they not just the same voicing,? but the spirit has 3 polar patterns (which you didn't mention) instead of the one cardioid found on the origin ? Which for vocals is all you want.
The Spirt has a transformer in it and that's one reason it cost more and sounds better in most applications. l have an Origin that supposed to have it's own 'vibe' but l haven't found the right use for it, yet. Both these mics are made in England, that's a plus like all the Rode mics in Australia. l'll be sure to get a Spirit after l sell the Origin.
and in my country, NT1 is even more expensive than Aston Origin, and sits in between Aston Origin and Aston Spirit (yes, Aston Spirit is around 50% more expensive than Aston Origin.. but since NT1 is more expensive than Aston Origin in my country, i will definitively just buy Aston Origin instead of NT1..
I just purchased the Aston Spirit and gave it a try for a week or so. It's a nice mic, but it honestly didn't impress me like I though it might. I have a Heil PR-781, and time and time again, with the different recordings I made, the Heil just sounded better. It cut through better. It was cleaner sounding. It's not as sensitive as the Ashton Spirit, but it, in my opinion, it produced better results. Hey, I guess all of this is subject and user relative. You definitely can't go wrong with the Ashton Spirit, that's for sure.
Bit of an apples to oranges comparison, what with the Heil being a dynamic mic and the Aston a condenser, but it makes sense that the condenser is more sensitive while the dynamic has cuts through better. There's a time and a place for both types (ribbons, too)
Do you think it works well without a shockmount? In my country it comes separately, do you think i ll be able to use this mic till i get the shockmount?
I think it works without the shockmount. Just make sure to use a low cut filter when mixing to get rid of foot steps, hits on the stand etc. Really low frequencies and noise are much more added without the shockmount I think. :)
Would you recommend the spirit for recording vocals, mainly rapping? Is it worth the extra cost? I currently use an AT2020 and I'm interested in upgrading
Hi! I think that Spirit shines on vocals and especial male pop / rap vocals, du to the good sounding “s, t, p, b” etc… :) I think you would like what you get out of this mic. :)
@@andreasforsberg-innovation980 Lovely lens! Can't believe how sharp Sigma's primes are for the money. And great video, too! I just got a new Spirit and I love it!

Hi! Thank you! :) Yes, you can use this microphone in so many situations including podcast. Just make sure that you record the podcast in a silent room due to that the Aston Spirit is an condenser microphone. Check out Shure SM7 as well! :) // Andreas
@@felipecastro5752 Thank you! :) As I mentioned, you can combine The Spirit with an dynamic microphone. Then you have many good options when and how to use the right microphone in different situations. / Andreas
So for Heavy Rock & Metal vocals (think in the style of James Hetfield (Metallica), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), the Spirit might be the better choice?
I agree, it's like you said! The "Origin" has more presence in the low-mids, so it's "warmer"...low-mids which, however, can detract from the higher frequencies. Of course, these are nuances, the "characteristic timbre" is faithfully the same identical
i prefer the origin, to my ears more solid. everything else is in the mix anyway, and you cant create that sound, it sounded perfect for narration or podcast aswelll. the spirit sound great, the spirit.. average.
I’ve used the Aston Origin for several years now, and have had really great results 🤘🏻

Excellent review. Thank you! I ordered the Sprit and can’t wait to receive it! 🙏🏻☺️
This video is very beneficial.
Thanks for reviewing those two microphones clearly.
Thanks for video sir, im start to sing, which microphone sounds more musical with the voice?
I always tend pick the Spirit for vocals. 😊⭐️
For future reference a side by side would be nice too

Ok Thanks. In my country the Spirit costs 40% more than the Origin. Bought 2x Origin mainly for podcast duty.

Hi! You get a bit more low end when using the Spirit. But the Origin is more transparent. I think I would go for the Spirit after all! :) // Andreas

NT1a is best for violin. NT1 is best for vocals. Aston spirit is good for rappers
hi do you know his impedence value? thanks
I love the Spirit but not a big fan of the Origin.
Mic doesnt sound flat. Frequency response is not continuous.
suena mas tapado el origin , prefiero el spirit a falta de hacer brillar una voz demasiado grave , el origin para esas voces faltantes de grave

Much more noise on the origin one

They do. NT1 is overrated
