Great video! In my opinion Newark Penn is such an underrated train station apart from its lack of cleanliness, especially since it's such an important station on the NEC. I can't wait until its renovated.
The station is definitely dirty but saying it's unsafe is quite a stretch (there are more incidents in NY's subways by comparison. And no one says to walk through it w/ your head down, that's ridiculous. If anything you'd keep your head up and alert (which you should do anywhere).
Other than the homeless taking over the bathrooms and waiting rooms, its actually a very good station. Its spacious. Has multiple places to eat including Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, and McDonalds. Its attached to Gateway Center. Its connected to the NJT Newark Light Rail, PATH, NJT Train, Amtrak, Flix Bus, Greyhound, and NJT Bus. It also has a liquor store and a fantastic gastro pub called Bellos across the street on the ironbound side.
It certainly needs a refresh so hopefully things will improve. I passed through in Feb from taking the bus from Newark Airport to the PATH and it was a bit grim but much cheaper than taking the Air Train and NJ Transit to Manhattan.
Most hated by whom? Failing how? It's a really well designed station and a beautiful building that needs a little bit of love. Just chill with the clickbait.
I can agree that this station isn’t safe at times and that it’s ugly, but it’s also the most photogenic place in all of Newark. A fashion shoot for Vogue happened at the waiting room and one of my favorite pics I took was at the Track 1 platform. That said, I do think the Path train needs to be relocated into a new station underneath Penn Station along with connecting the Newark Light Rail to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail with some stops in Ironbound and Kearny Point.
That metronome is just too much. I really want to enjoy your videos as you do a great job of presenting the data accessibly. You may want to try using headphones or at least a single ear piece to help you pace.
Not your best video......there's no real information here. What, exactly, are these plans hoping to change? Are there any renderings to show us? I basically heard six minutes of "they want to make it better" without any details or specifics, which I could have learned from a simple headline.
As if your state is so much better you know nothing about this state and furthermore to say that about a place that's so steeped in history is. Newark will always be a major transportation center for everybody in a great City for everyone your beliefs are not but you'll be leafs are very stupid
i dont feel safe at night riding the train home from all the devil's game with all the homeless and drug addicts who hang and sleep in the station. i hate this station at night

Knowing how things work in NJ, renovation may complete in 2025 at the earliest.
It’s truth. You can love it and still admit it’s the least liked
@@xxxx-tb4de is there anywhere they might do it faster these days? Utopia? U probably right

Incredible photography and a gem of a video 😊
Couldn't have said it better myself

You’re kidding, right? The station is disgusting and falling apart. The bones are good, but a lot of work is needed.
I really liked the video! Lots of detail, my only gripe was reusing background footage but thats just me.

I’d argue Trenton is more hated.
Get rid of the riff raff in front of the building.
Northeast Corridor 🎱

New Jersey is the armpit of America and Newark is New Jersey's armpit. We hate it because its newark
You very small minded as if your city is any better people like you are what is wrong with the world today
LMAOO WHAT. There’s definitely places wayyyy worse than new jersey and newark😂 Look at kensington, chicago, detrot and more😂

lol nobody cares. Deal with it. I’ve been to this station plenty of times at night, nothing happened to me
I've been taken trains home from newark as late as 10 at night for years. 99% of the time, the Worst that'll happen is you're asked for money.
