I'm having that same problem,04 explorer, everything works, radio lights etc, but when I try to start nothing happens. But sometimes it will start if I wait a little while, its happened a few times to where it won't start for a while. I'll keep my eye out for this now, hopefully it's this simple of a fix. Thank alot for posting
Leave old key in switch turn it to start but don't start...leave key in for 10 minutes to reset. Then try to start. Or disconnect negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. To reboot.
Could this be the issue for theft mode on my 2001 ford explorer sport trac? Originally my shifter broke one of the bolts, so as soon as we starting messing with it the truck wouldn’t turnover anymore.
OK..... My 2004 Ford Explorer was doing EXACT same thing after i had let it sit and battery went dead, then i tried jump starting it and still got nothing. Tried unhooking battery and waiting a couple days, shifting from park to drive and back to park, using my other original spare key, checked relays, fuses, ect. nothing worked. Had it towed to mechanic for $65.00 and he did a diagnostic scan on it and told me the computer was not recognizing either key. He had to delete both original keys and reprogram them and for $90.00 i was back on the road. He said it could have happen from battery going dead and trying to jump start. If i had not unhooked battery prior he could have told me from the diagnostics, but i guess when you unhook battery you reset the computer and lose all faults or errors in the computer. I don't know. I do know for $90.00 it was well worth it, just the tow bill sucked. Good luck!
Roger Keller I’m having this issue now, they’re telling me I HAVE to take it to Ford no other way, who was u able to find other than the dealership to get keys reprogrammed? If u don’t mind me asking, cause Ford is like 2 hours away and they’re gonna charge me like $300 lol
@@horrorhead199 I called a mechanic and he did a computer scan on it. Told me the problem was that it was not reading either of my original keys. He said he would have to delete both keys and then reprogram them. I was hesitant that this would be the fix, but he had it ready in just a couple hours later.
Roger Keller gotcha, man I wish I could find one of those cause I’m 100% certain that’s my problem cause it happened once, it took me 2 months but I tracked down the other key and I jumped the car and drove it awhile to see if the alternator would charge it and when I tried again with the key that was working it did the exact same thing cause the battery was shot lol got a new battery but still the keys are screwed..this just happened today btw so I’m beyond depressed, can’t get to work, all that good stuff lol sigh thnx a lot for the reply tho brother I really appreciate it.
@@horrorhead199 Good luck, yea mine all started with a dead battery and then trying to jump. I found a local mechanic on craiglist believe it or not.Told him my issue and he said he could fix it. $65.00 tow for 10 miles.
If you have remote start where you put the key in the egnition then press the brake. Use remote start first then put the bad key in and turn to start it will reprogram your key.
That doesnt solve all the theft lights flashing rapidly... after it flashes rapidly wait about 20 secs. It will pause and blink slower; 2 sec... blink .. 1 sec. blink . Blink. And it repeats the same pattern blink over and over unless it has more than one pats problem
No, it's not fixed yet. The key didnt work. Talked to a mechanic today. Most fords if not all need the computer. It's in anti theft mode. And my car has a self starter. If you have one, it can be that as well. I suggest you tow it to a mechanic. I'm towing mine
Hey I hope someone reads me.... The same shit is happening to my car. Ford explorer 2004 Got a new key today, just came back. Tried this... and it didnt work. I dont know what the problem is. I put a new starter 3 days ago. Now a new key, and still nothing. Anyone have ANY idea what's happening? Please feel free to comment, I'd appreciate it

It was just a backyard mechanic that done this stuff on the side, but had the right equipment.

Locksmith came to the house and cut/programmed the key in the driveway. Fired right up....
What year did you have
if ur gonna sound this good *** surely this a TOP or a VERSE ?
Will that work for a 2000

Do locksmiths program the keys, or do you have to pay $50 or more to get a programmed
Check to see if you have two chipped keys first. If one stops working use the other to start then use bad key it will reprogram.
Thank you man
thanks man . thank you so much
Did you reprogram the key yourself
No gorgeous. You gotta have it reprogrammed by a locksmith or ford dealer or simply search for a key guy. Lol 😉🌷😊😊good luck
