  • It would've been easier to just buy the cabinet, but I took the longer route and bought all the tools. The good thing is that I have quality tools that I can use for many other projects. It was a fun project.

    They make latches for yacht/RV drawers that use a magnet. no exterior hardware and you can hang the key on the fridge.

    For MDF edges, use a 50-50 mix of wood glue and water. after it dries, sand it smooth.

      @@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 I learned from you the difference between dry to the touch and cured. When you ask pros they'll tell you oil-based paint - dry to the touch in 6-8 hours and ready to recoat in 24 hours! Latex paint - dry to the touch in about 1 hour, and you can safely recoat in 4 hours. That does not mean cured. Cured = about a month or you get fumes in a smaller rooms. I also had the same problem using a foam roller and micro bubbles it sucked! XD

    When you cut the side holes for the hoses, I'm assuming you used a router? Did you freehand it or use some kind of stencil or guide to make sure they were straight & parallel?

      I would’ve asked you how you missed hearing that router guide explained in his video. It’s at 0:36.
      And do you really need a pic of what a picture frame jig looks like?
      LoL. Why do I get the feeling you’re not be old enough to work with power tools? 🙈

      @@Val_Halla777 well, despite being in my 40s, I’d never done any carpentry at all and done very very little with power tools beyond a power drill. I did not own a router at that point and had no idea what a router guide even was. Definitely watched the video, more times than I can count, both before and during my project, and learned a ton from this and several other videos and as I went along in my project. I did complete my project, including the slots in the side like in the video thanks to the video and his response to my question, and am beyond happy with the results.

    What wood did you use side panels and top and back. Do I have use the 2 by 4s for a 60p stand?

    • @joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164
      @joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used MDF for the entire cabinet. If you use plywood, you might not have to use 2x4's. I needed to brace the cabinet with 2x4's because the doors aligned perfectly when the cabinet was laying down on its back, but when the aquarium was on it, the MDF started bending, so the doors were not aligned anymore.
