He also played the solo on Edge of the Deep Green Sea - he's pretty decent. I highly recommend his work on the Banshees Hyaena album. He did some great stuff on that.
Smith was never a flashy performer.

I saw this tour live in 92 - and I've never felt bass like I felt it at this concert. Right in my chest.
They performed this at several venues in 2019 - Glasto, Pink Pop, Hall of Fame Induction. They've still got it.
If you've never heard 'The Forest' live, then you've missed something very, very special. Absolutely loved them! I saw them at Crystal Palace with Depeche Mode and Sisters of Mercy- honestly one of the best times of the life.

Saw the 3 times in concert over more than a decade… they never disappointed.

I have been to 3 Cure concerts amd have never been dissapointed. Always value for money. Long concerts. Good sound. Spacy as hell.

As a Preston North End fan I'll concede that Robert is the best thing to ever come out of Blackpool. And that's a very hard thing for a northender to admit.

I have managed to see them 3 times i my life, once in High School, when they came to Hampton, once at William & Mary College, when they came on the *Wish Tour,* probably my favorite show, and once more recently, when me and my little brother drove all the way to Maryland to see them. The first show was *AMAZING* because I was still a teenager, the second show was *UNBELIEVABLE* because it was a great venue at the college auditorium, and I got to get right at the stage, the third show was actually a little bit of a letdown, if I am truthful because the show was *WAY OVERSOLD* and we ended up having to watch from a *LONG* way away, on the hill, and could not really even see the band. Then again, *The Cure* sell out quick, but if you get the chance, *which may be running short now,* as they are getting pretty old now, without question you *NEED* to see these guys live!!

I love the Concert - The Cure Live album version of this song. Bought the album mid 80's and this song was magical.

I saw the Cure between 84 and mid 90s about a dozen times and frankly they were SIMPLY FUCKING AWESOME every time... I can't really state it any higher than that, that's why I LOVE them.
Looking forward to seeing them at the end of this year. They are a phenomenal live band, music and vocals always on point!

I must admit that I never listened to The Cure back then, I cannot remember why, maybe heard a song by them and didn’t like it, don’t know but listening to this I’m sorry I didn’t. Enjoyed this. Will definitely checking out some of their music on TH-cam. Thank you Mike and Ginger ❤️🤘🇦🇺

I think alot of their early pop stuff from "Three Imaginary Boys" didn't really hit alot of people and if you didn't catch them after that probably missed them. Though I do enjoy TIB, I personally didn't really get into the Cure until "Seventeen Seconds".... Then they backed it up with "Faith".... Damn.... Every next venture was epic for them.... The next six put out after "Faith" were great (especially Disintegration)...

This version of "a.forest", is on the "Show", dvd.........l had my copy transferred from video......ln London & l.guess everywhere, "trilogy", dvd., is a three album dvd.........again, in.london you can get it for a fiver & it has extras & interviews..........

In my opinion, this is the best version of a song live I've ever heard. To take a five-minute song and turn it into a 13-minute epic is insane and works so well here. Bravo
The original single was only 3 minutes and fast paced. Nothing like this

I was 13 when I saw them on The Prayer Tour it was the most amazing show. I saw Wish Tour and loved it but The Prayer Tour will always be my favorite
Was 17 when I saw them on the Prayer Tour... second night at Wembley Arena... awesome! The Cure at their creative and performing peak with the best line-up.

It's one of my favourite The Cure songs, but I sincerely doubt it's their most well known song.
It is the most respected, the one they have touched the most times. But it is not among the best known.

The Cure have seen me through so many dark times in my life, but the best thing is, is that they are there for me in the good times.

I saw them live in 1999 and can't remember how they sounded.
I can only remember that I went there on short notice and people were already holding up signs for tickets in front of the hall, and there were still some at the box office. :D

Sonically captivating and mesmerizing.
I've seen them live twice at Shoreline Ampitheater in California. By far the best live performances of any concerts I've been to...and I've seen Rush, Tool, Journey, etc. This band is so good live!!!

Even if it’s in your own time check the trilogy dvd, its three albums back to back perfectly with half another album for an encore 🤣🤣🤣🤣 atmospheric, moody and hauntingly beautiful 🖤

Saw them live in the late 90's and it was incredible. Robert Smith is the GOAT song writer of all time.
have never seen the cure, but the tribute band ReCure is quite fun to see. Have seen them 2x in a small venue (5 feet away) and it's really the next best thing to paying $180 for a cure ticket.

My favourite The Cure's song, as well as Primary, and Charlotte sometimes, nice reaction, thanks for the good moment.
I brought accomplshed musician friends to their last Montréal concert and they were amazed at how technical Smith is on the guitar...always picking, strumming, creating moods.
They get labeled as new wave, or pop in the media a lot, but I’ve seen them live four times and they are one of the best guitar rock bands I’ve seen. Smith doesn’t get the accolades he deserves I think. :)
The progression and build up of this song in this concert to reach is the best thing that I've seen live of any band.

I don't think it gets more 'classic Cure' than this. This and 'Close to me' are my favourite classic Cure songs. :)
They did however make a song called 'Burn' that was featured in the movie 'The Crow' that's very different from their usual sound, that song is my favourite Cure song and one of the greatest songs i've ever heard. :)

I saw The Cure in Tinley Park, IL in 2001. I think they played such long sets that they had no opening act! Excellent band

I'm not sure there's a Cure fan who doesn't think this is their best song ever. At least it is for me. They are one of those few bands that have their own sound and nothing else is like it.

This is my all time favorite Cure lineup, probably because it's the most "rock band" they ever got. Magnificent performance, but The Cure rarely disappoint. Yes, they are much older now, but damn, are they still worth seeing.
Amazing song, the soundtrack of my teens. Saw them live in 87, 2011 and 2013, the last was their best. They won’t disappoint you Ginger. Osheaga was a great venue along with New Order, Garbage, Jesus and Mary Chain.........

They are still performing live Ginger, and they are still pretty decent, grab your chance next time they go on tour...
i was more than happy to see them in concert here in 🇧🇷 in 2015...i love them deeply..just to add:at the occasion I was in shock to hear that RS has not lost the same voice tone ( sorry for the bad english).

I saw this tour too (not this show though) - I remember the feeling of Simon’s Bass just thudding in my chest - and Pearl just RIPPED on the guitar.
Modern renditions of this song has more crowd involvement. So many memories of this band and that time. Spent my life listening time to time and revisiting thier live game.
Not only have I seen them live, I saw the next two shows on this tour... this was recorded over 2 nights in Detroit in 1992, and then the next two nights were in Cleveland and Fairborn, Ohio. The Wish tour, they closed every show with A Forest and they were all fucking excellent versions like this... I then proceeded to wear out my VHS of Show, which is where this is taken from... I am super happy to see someone reacting to this, I can't say I would have ever imagined to see someone reacting to this. These shows were just so damn epic. The light show was on point, the band was at their peak... Yeah. I've seen them 4 times since then and it was great and all but it will never compare to this tour. Love the reaction. I don't want to click like cause it is at 69 right now though, lol.
And nowadays they play a very boring, straighforward 6 and a half minute version of A Forest. It still sounds good, but they don't jam at all like they used to. I miss it.
I saw The Cure, Violent Femmes and The Pogues at Kingswood Music Theater. Saw The Cure again along with Ten Thousand Maniacs at Exhibition Stadium.

I’ve seen The Cure loads of times from the early ‘80s up until last year and A Forest is always a highlight at the end but I’ve never seen a version like that before where they wove in other songs. Loved it but….
This live version from 1992 is just ridiculously good. I could never attend the concert but played the VHS till it almost broke.

Check out Siouxsie and the Banshees “Nocturn” gig LIVE at The Royal Albert Hall from around 1983 - Siouxsie went through a lot of guitarists in the 80’s
so Robert Smith stood in for a short period and played guitar at that show. It gives you an idea of how flexible and accomplished he is as a guitarist.
Siouxsie used to teasingly call him “ the pop star” because of the chart success he had had with The Cure. 😂
I was at one of those gigs and it was amazing. Siouxsie also used to call him Fat Bob I’m sure
You guys should have a look at the Dutch interval acts at Eurosong contest 2021. Everybody is talking about them because you won't believe what you eyes see. First you have Davina Michelle who sings the song Power of Water. And you have the world famous DJ Afrojack with the Whitney Houston reincarnation Glennis Grace doing the song Music binds us.
Didn't see The Cure because I was spoilt for choice. ..Shall I see Queen next week..or AC/DC... or maybe Half Man Half Biscuit.. Those were the days. :)

the Defininitive Cure line up, Robert, Simon, Porl ( now Coral ) , Boris and Perry ( who used to be a roadie for them ) . Not eh longest version of a Forest though, i had a "bootleg" tape from a concert in germany from early 80's with a 17 minute version thats just mind blowing.
I love this version. The '89 version was amazing live too.
