I can't believe that at one point in my life I had the time, energy and will to GRIND in this game. I remember that on at least 5 occasions I maxed out 5 characters before the end of the 1st chapter (4 regulars, and Ramza of course). By maxed out, I mean they had all Job Classes mastered (all abilities, lvl 8). It was always a fun thing to max out your guys only to realize the game likes to "play fair" and have your enemies at the same f'n levels as you! So I would run into lvl.99 enemy groups that would then have insane power. The plus to that was that the Ninjas would literally throw swords you could not get until the 3rd or 4th chapter. So I'd have everybody with the catch ability of course, giving myself a crazy advantage in the coming stages. Also another thing that was awesome was finding monsters I normally wouldn't til later, and poaching them WAY early. The issue with maxing out my own guys so early, was as I got Agrias, Mustadio, Cid (yeah I used him, so what? I don't give a shit about things being "too easy" by any means...I don't have the "I have to make the game harder for myself to feel like I'm really beating it"....nahhhh, I'll go with the strongest/most OP characters ever when I can. I don't give a shit about "fairness" or a challenge. The challenge to me was just finishing the game in any way possible and getting to see the entire story. THAT is most important to me, not fucking stupid shit like trying to beat the game with no leveling, weakest weapons and other self made challenges by losers that have all the time in the world. Something...I don't know why, but it make me those same guys do not have GF's/Fiance's/Kids, nor many real friends. Those things go hand in hand with "speed running", "challenging yourself with stupi challenges like "not having _______ the entire game". Hence I could never grind out like I used to as a middle school kid or early high school kid. I bust out my GameShark and make my party of Wiegraf, Vormav, Izlude, Kletian, and Elmdor (if not HAVING to use Ramza). People that talk shit on Gameshark are stupid, although something tells me that stupid kids don't even know what that is or any of have heard of it. I GUARANTEE (stupid) kids these days have NEVER heard of Game Genie, the pre-cursor to it, and the greatest tool ever as a kid playing NES in the early 90's. The reason for using it is to have EXTRA fun you couldn't possibly have without it, like my aforementioned party of all Templar Knights (BAD ASS), and giving them all Teleport 2, the Support Command No Charge (instant casting of spells/abilities), and of course the Reaction Command Catch (I THINK) in which you could catch any weapon attack at you like a sword (grab with two hands, arrows caught, etc.). This is as I remember it....however I am in my late 30's and played this game in High School mostly. There was a ton of drugs in between the end of High School and a couple years ago, so my memory is a bit hazy to put it lightly. It's not even weed, my memory isn't that bad from weed...it's from Black and maybe even Shard. It may even be my prescription Xanax that I've been having written for over a decade now (incurable anxiety). Oh well, I'd take the gaps in my memory over having any panic attacks that result in me running away from the situation and then having to spend an hour trying to calm myself down. That's what happens when you only have 50% of the GABA that you're body is supposed to produce (hence incurable, false GABA producers DO NOT work...it's a lie that they do or can). I may have only got my Bachelors in (B.A.) in Psychology, but my emphasis was on Pharmacology specifically. So I know what I'm talking about here....
I like your opinions, Senpai, but you didn't have to call us losers :c What I like most from what you said is the story being the most important thing, I haven't beaten Disgaea 5 solely because I grinded too hard and I used the "Cheat" option available In-Game to purposefully make the last boss harder, and it's b/c of FFT being easy to beat after the Belias fight. Story has always been paramount to me, but you helped me see that I've been letting things walk first before story. Thank you, virtual cheers! 🍻
I used to grind my characters to turn them like beasts as well, but it kind of lose it's fun at some certain point, you end up craving for challenges, tbh there shouldn't be anything wrong with the way you play a single player game, have fun in your way

Like, he's just some low-born Machinist from Goug, on the run in Yardrow when suddenly a beautiful woman in Holy Knight garb comes charging in from the sidelines and absolutely wrecks his pursuers with fancy sword magic. It's a gender-swap of the classic medieval 'damsel in distress' situation. Ramza might be in charge, but try to tell me Agrias wasn't the real heavy-hitter in the party at the time.
I dunno When I got done with Ramza he had Chaos Blade AND Excalibur plus his monk skills. Really the Holy Sword is good but this guy could one shot Altima.

Meliadoul Tryied to kill Ramza, and acused him for his brother death, also even on our side she still a knight, and her "noble" knighthood don't let her be "forgiven" to be her partner.
