Thank you for this detailed video. I have had a problem with my forerunner 230. It didn't charge when connected; I tried with USB and power adapter, with new cable, with reset; no help at all. Bluetooth has been working, but no charging. Solution: I opened the 230 according to this video and found the pins inside were not giving contact, where the cable is connected. I contacted them. My FR 230 is running and charging again. Please keep in mind, if Bluetooth isn’t working (mobile phone with Garmin Connect App) after some resets, delete your FR watch from the App and reconnect it again from App (not from iPhone menu !). 😀
thanks for the video. Tip: disassembling an electronic equipment while the power is on and fiddling aroung with metallic tools is begging for problems. Switch that thing off first! :)
I used 2mm double sided repair tape for the battery. I also cleaned all of the residual glue off the crystal and watch body using adhesive remover and a utility knife blade. Note that the back of the crystal is painted black and some of the paint will get scratched off. The T-7000 glue is black so it hides the majority of it; I was more concerned with having a clean flat mounting surface and a good waterproof seal than aesthetics. The T-7000 glue needs 24-48 hours to cure. Alcohol swabs work great for removing any excess glue prior to it curing. Be sure the "Garmin" name is centered at the top before it cures.
You may find the battery will be ok. The connections to the charging pins were suspect on my Forerunner. Once i removed the screen, i simply cleaned them and re-tensioned the connectors slightly bending them. No need to remove plastic film or any ribbon cables. Glue screen back and 'bobs your uncle'. Watch is working again
@@hanifffadzil hey, yes it worked with me with hair dryer as well. It took around 4 minutes with temperature around 80 Celsius degrees to open the G FR235 and G FR220 too.
Great video. Showed me all the little tips, tricks, and tools I needed to successfully change my battery without destroying my watch. Thanks!

I had the same thought. Why didn't he switch it off before starting?
Wow, Garmin really don't want you to replace this battery. This would have been so much easier if the back cover was detachable.
Yup unlike a g-shock. Garmin gets a negative for this. It means they want more 💸.

Thanks for the helpful tutorial. How much degrees should the hot air pistol need to have? Regards
The voice over says 90 degrees. I presume celsius

It s a double side tape (foam). Best regards

That's pretty complicated and hard ngl
Why would you do this while the watch is on? That is a terrible idea.
