The theme song brings so much nostalgia. I was a kid, can't remember if it was on CBC or CTV, but my wife and I began watching it from the beginning on Netflix and I appreciate it more now than I did then. There's just something in the wholesomeness of it that today's television shows don't have.

That makes two of us. I'm from the Southeast of the US and every where I have traveled this song makes me thing about home. Especially during my deployments I loved listening to this song. I also have all the seasons of Due South on DVD as well as my tablet. This show was always fun to watch. It also has a moral purpose about it. Be polite and courteous to who ever you're talking to because it only takes a couple seconds to be polite to others to make things easier

One of these days I want to figure out how to make a continuous loop of the song and burn it to CD so I can listen to it whenever I get the yearning for this song, which is close to always. Sure wish one of the broadcast stations would show the whole series over again.. It's been too long and really miss it.

Loved the early seasons before Ray left, as always when original cast members leave, the show looses its dinamic and ratings fall. Currently reshowing on true TV channel in the UK.
The original "Ray" actor didn't to want leave the show not did they want to lose him. CBS axed the show after series 2 so everyone thought it was over, so during that period the original "Ray" actor was looking at other projects and signed up to do something else. Then the BBC took on and brought the commissioning of the show for the reminder of its lifetime (at this point Paul Gross took on full director role too) - sadly due to the contract conflicts and being too late could not use the original "Ray". That's sort of why they wrote the script for beginning of season 3 with the original Ray going "deep undercover" and new having to be and pretand to be Ray still - risky bit of scripting but a master stroke by Paul Cross and the writers.
You know I could've sworn the intro to the tv show had a shortned version with the lyrics but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I know this because I watched this in the early 90's before I was even on the internet, I only ever heard thisl version about tweny years ago.

This is the best version of the theme. I think they screwed with it too much for the seasons with Callum Keith Rennie as Stanley "Ray" Kowalski. Why take something that was already wonderful and change it?

I liked Callum Keith Rennie's Ray, I think they pulled it off better than most shows that tried to replace actors.
