- Hello this is my first video,
Nobody did pay me for this video, it's for myself, because the quality of the orginal radio is very bad and I always wanted a updated dash with bluetooth and navigation function
How to install a universal head-unit into a smart.
I went to a local store to buy:
4X M5 bolts and nuts
2 iron brackets
1 meter foam strip.
Bought it from Ali-express($55-60);

For now the amplifieris very good, you can costum it to your own style
Screen quality is nice, it feels decent
The system react-time is fast
immediately connection bluetooth with spotify

Quick question I have a smart fortwo passion cdi from 2009 and it was this piece attached with a little phone thing that was bluetooth and show up on the phone as brunswick carkit does anyone know how it work I bought the car with it already there..
would a 9 inch radio fit better than the 10 inch radio? I think then it would be exactly flush with the opening . do you have photos of the side where it is installed?

Is this the 9" or 10" version of the radio? The car frame bezel comes with the radio specially for the Smart ForTwo or you purchased it separately? Looks absolutely amazing and 100% stock!😍😍😍

headunit is universal, the hole in the dashboard is bit smaller than the unit. The unit lay flat on the dashboard. I used a ISO-connector, All Smart model 451 have standart 8 pin ISO connector. Mine was included with the connectors.

would installing this remove the aux ability! That’s okay as long as you can play music through Bluetooth on it!
you can use the rca inputs with female 3.5 jack and install it where the factory one is.

Hi jerry, really helpful video but Im a bit confused to how you attached the metal brackets you had to bend? are the screw holes in the unit?
the brackets clamps on the dashboard. 4 bolts mounted to screen. so it cant go in any direction

hoi jimmy, klik op de link onder de video, scherm is universeel maar past nagenoeg perfect door de foam strip. Unit gaat er niet IN maar OP de dashboard

I got one like yours. You seem to have attached only the radio or gps in the video and the 16 pin head not the 20 pin. Is that enough?

idk I never tried. 9´Unit is smaller than the dubbeldin hole, it would fit but you will see a opening on the sides.

What did you use for foam strips looks good
I used 18mm foam strip from the local hardware store.
Does is have RDS and does it have dsp ?
yes i has RDS, mine version has no dsp, but you can buy a expensiver version that has dsp.

@@514filippos Yes it runs very smooth, it has 1g ram 16gb. itś the cheapest version i wanted to test this unit before i buy a expensive one, But now i dont need to because this a is very good for me.
I only use it for music and handsfree calls. In a few days i will upload a new video about some features; youtube google, maps, spotify on the unit. it has wifi and you can also use your mobile hotspot on the way.
This is not for 07-14, 2007-2010 is different as 2011-2015. Both have a different dashboard.
yes smart fortwo 451 has 2 different dashboard, but mounting the headunit its exactly the same handling on both dashboard.
@@jerrygoli285 Not the same. You mount the radio into the car not the trim on the 2011 and up. Also the trim is totally different.
