She lost her shoe and still anchored Motor City Track Club to a 4x400m win at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics...and she wasn't wearing socks either!

Commentators are on the average non athletic and rarely sport conscious. They are there based on speaking ability not knowledge. Another thing they basically bias.
