The main purpose of a test ride is to test if a vehicle works for you or not. It is not to test if it works or not. E.g. If I want to test ride an Adventure Motorcycle, then I must test it on the type of road that I intend to operate it on. A 1-2 km ride on a tarmac road around the dealership will be insufficient for making the purchase decision.
Many European companies like BMW and KTM have a strict policy of not offering test rides after 5:30 PM. The reasoning isn’t clear, but it can be quite inconvenient, especially for people with standard work hours. Do they expect us to take time off just to schedule a test ride? This policy could certainly benefit from more flexibility, especially since companies like Yamaha and Suzuki have no issues providing test rides after office hours.
