note the race and ball assembly typically falls apart, I believe the race goes behind the ball assembly and only with wear does it slip on over the front.

Thanks for the video! I have an 07 Forester XT - the boots wear out being so close to the Downpipe! Aftermarket axles are total crap, and the replacement is $560 or something last I checked. Found a guy when I was living in Houston who rebuilt all the axles for the dealer and I did a swap for $50. Moved up to Seattle and looks like I’ll be on the hook for the job this time. Thanks for making it look manageable!

nice video, helpful. how much do you save rebuilding yourself vs buying new ready to install?

Probably saved $150 per axle. Might’ve spent $50 for all the stuff I needed vs however much a new non oem axle costs. If you get oem it’ll be even more money.

I just replaced my cv joint, 2007 outback. It was ripped, making a loud screeching machine like sound. I still got the old part. Would doing this make it drivable? That noise was kinda bad thinking its a gonner?

@@moy6569 mine hadn’t made any noise. If it’s making noise it’s probably gone

They go bad beacuse the industry uses that shitty black moly grease. Im gonna do a build using MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC RED GREASE.
