Sankara Eye foundation, its journey towards, “Making a Meaningful Difference to the Society”

Realizing the need of Quality Eye Care across the country and understanding the plight of rural India in accessing the gift of vision, Padmashree Dr. R V Ramani, Founder & Managing trustee of Snakara Eye Foundation, along with his wife Dr. Radha Ramani, laid a foundation stone to give a new meaning to eye care in India.
Inspired, blessed and guided by the Sankaracharyas of Kanchi, they brought in a revolutionary changes in the field of Eye Care. For his exemplary services to humanity, Dr. R V Ramani received the Padmashree award from Government of India, in the year 2019.
Under the banner of Sankara Eye Foundation, the 1st Sankara Eye Hospital was established at Coimbatore in the year 1985. The passion to provide the gift of vision to many and to establish a high standards of quality in eye care across India, Sankara Eye Foundation went on to replicate 10 more hospitals across India. This movement has touched over 1 Crore lives, examined over 55 lakh Rural Patients and performed over 2 million free eye care surgeries.
