Great video! I just watched Kris's video earlier, very interesting to see the research on this topic. I'm currently not growing any gunneras although I have considered getting one.
They're similar to a tree fern in that they're a commitment to daily watering throughout summer if you want them to look their best. One of the first plants I bought for the garden!
Here in Ecuador the gunnera tinctura grows everywhere in the ditches. The veins are so red. I picked a 30 pound flower spike and spread the seeds along my river.
You are spot on with your identification of the tinctoria 👍🏻 your second gunnera is more difficult because it's not growing to it's true potential being in the pot.
@@garethvanderwesthuyzen6420 Same with mine - I have a few which are almost certainly standard variety. In most people's gardens they'll still look huge!

Sounds like the perfect climate for it over there - they must get huge!

Agreed. I suppose we should just enjoy these wonderful plants without worrying too much about IDs!
That same could be said for Tetrapanax Papyrifer. People are so obsessed with the Rex variety. I have a standard Tetrapanax and it's a beauty!

Both tinctoria or at least tinctoria heavy in the genes.
Thanks Kris 👍
