Just finished the new game plus of this little gem. This studio really innovates on the JRPG formula in ways that are most welcome. It made me fall in love with the genre again. Thanks for the recommendation.
It is, I just checked. I loved Cosmic Star Heroine. I'm defiantly putting this on my list! I liked how CSH made the abilities disappear after use until you recharge them. It added a lot of depth to the JRPG formula and thankfully they don't make them too long.
Thank you so much! I'm really hoping we can keep growing, but tbh, the subscriber rates really slowed down for the last few months. I'm hoping the content hasn't put people off somehow.
Not many other reviews out there for this game, but this is definitely the best. The norm for BGC content. And congratulations on hitting 10k subs. Can’t wait for 100k. Keep it up! P.S. I like the idea of reviewing games like this in the same week they release physically (in this case with Limited Run).
Well, if they would ever let me know which ones they are going to release, I would totally make sure to have reviews out, but unfortunately I just got lucky covering this one in time for the release. Haha!
Welcome aboard! and thank you so much! This game is totally out of left field, but I loved it. There is a physical edition out at Limited Run Games, if they haven't run out yet. :)
I need the original game, Cthulhu Saves the World to go with it. But you sold me on this one. It just sounds too ridiculously fun and hilarious to pass up.
I'm here deciding if I should order this one from LRG. I think you've sold me on it. Not loving the short length of the game, but if there is a new game+ mode, I think I'll end up getting my moneys worth here. Thanks.
Well, I'm a huge Lovecraft fan. I've read through his complete works many times and will read it many more in the future. I think this is a must have for me. Any other Lovecraft fanatics out there have an opinion on this game? I'd live to hear from yall.
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is a gem of a game, too (at least the first several hours are great). Been on the fence trying about trying this one myself.
Cthluhu Saves the world, as Christmas is a prequel, I recommend all of the dev's games. But I also recommend playing them in release order as each game does like to reference the previous games in either having bonus bosses being the previous characters or just 4th wall breaks referencing things
He (it) is a creature from the Lovecraft mythos. Basically a completely unfeeling series of demonc elder gods, of whom Cthulhu is their "priest" or more like harbinger. 😅
@@badenglish3576 Having the same problem rn, found out that it'll be released in EU in the future tho Tweet from LRG: twitter.com/LimitedRunGames/status/1321482702042865666?s=20
This ones on my wishlist. I love all things Lovecraft and Christmas so this seems like a no brainer. Plus it looks a bit like Cosmic Star Heroine graphically.
I love HP Lovecraft lore. I admit I don't know half of it but I have most of his writings and have enjoyed reading the stories for the past 20 plus years. Yet... I have no games directly related to them mostly because I am very skeptical of their quality... But maybe this would be a nice first? I have a few different ones on my wish list but I can never click to buy...
I feel you. Between the price and the fear of a poorly realized mythos, I hesitate to buy many "Lovecraft" themed games. Omen Exitio is pretty great though. 😎👍
You know what really looks good here...the character animations (enemies). They have an old 16-bit vibe that draws this old school gamer in like a moth to a flame. This is the style of art I wish more indy developers used for their games. My least favorite is...think Langrisser 1+2 remaster. The oversized heads and almost flash/web based art style...I just don't care for it. For some reason, games having that flash look always seem off too me. My absolute favorite type of pixel art is in games like Metal Slug, Street Fighter Alpha 1-3, Streets of Rage 2+3, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Samurai Shodown 1-5, In the Hunt* Saturn/arcade, and Enter the Gungeon. There is something to these titles and the fluidity of the characters motion that always blow my mind. When you take a ridiculous setting like in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and juxtapose it to a realistic animation system with goofy pixel art it just sets a game off for me. This is likely why I'm such an SNK nerd...that animation on everything is great.
Its totally true.its funny how many pixel art games there are out there, but how few have such stunning pixel work as the great classics. I miss the that. 😅
Knowing how seriously he took everything, he may feel as though it was being taken too lightly... but then again, he loved helping other authors expand on his work. 🤔
This was kinda disappointing for me after Cthulhu Saves the World. "Saves Christmas" has barely any mechanics out of combat, you can't even move around outside of dungeons, and the only interactive objects are the chests. Other than that, they are all very similar mazes with the exact same 10-15 random encounters. It's not bad, and the writing is fun, but it was such a downgrade after "Saves the World", especially considering how much more expensive it is.

OMG, you are totally welcome! It was a kick to play this one.
Really happy I got to share it with all of you. :D
This is a Christmas game, just as Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Change my mind.
Can't. Would never want to.
Prometheus is my favourite Christmas film.
Also! Congratulations on the subs! I'm very happy for you! That's awesome!
Thank you so much!! How long do you think it will take to get to 20k? 😆

This has to be the Cosmic Star Heroine team. I loved that game so this looks awesome!

Truth! Same team, and yeah, that combat system is totally legit! They did such a great job.
@@BudgetGamerChannel Cthulhu is actually in Cosmic Star Heroine, same character model and everything.
Congratulations on 10k subs. Love your channel. Thanks-

Awww!! Thank you so much! And thanks for commenting. Been a while since I've seen you around the comments. 😉👍
Wow. This looks amazing. How did I not hear about the release of this?
You should see if there are any physical copies left at Limited Run games. 😁👍
I had to get one for myself. 🤣😅

Now that is what I call a flattering comment! 😆👍
Thanks for sharing. I really happy my review was so helpful.
That pun on the word “relationships”…
Lololol! Mythos and wordplay at its finest. 🤣

I'm sure they'll love it. 😆

Here from I Dream of Indie! Nice channel!
I had no idea this game was even on the Switch and I've had one since release, lol. I'm totally getting it.

I was interested in this... thanks for the heads up.

There needs to be more Cthulhu games...
well one good thing about a lovecraftian rpg is that you should never run out of HP.
