    I feel it is truly an honor to hear this version of this song, Mahk Jchi, and recommended to me by TH-cam. I can never seem to hear enough of this song in almost every version played and have been listening to it since an old Navajo friend named Onyx shared it with me in 2020 🙂
    😔..i still stubbornly miss You,
    dear Onyx 💔

    HEARTBEAT DRUM SONG
    A hundred years have passed
    Yet I hear the distant beat of my father's drums.
    I hear his drums throughout the land.
    His beat I feel within my heart.
    The drum shall beat
    so my heart shall beat.
    And I shall live a hundred thousand years.

    One of the most beautiful songs ever, in my opinion. But it only works with female voices, calming the angry warrior inside of men or giving some peace of mind to a tortured, hurted soul, embracing the pain and calming it.
    Some sort of "coming home" inside with the help of somebody outside.

    This is a beautiful song but just a note this WAS NOT written by the Sessions Voices > this is a song by Ulali and it has stayed true to the original

    • @TheSessionsVoicesItaly
      @TheSessionsVoicesItaly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It is written in the video description. Pure Fe once wrote us to congratulate us and thanked us for the tribute. Some of us used to listen to this song in the 1990's when we were in middle/high school.

    Pronounciation is all off and why try and redo indigenous peoples songs? Wtf?

    • @TheSessionsVoicesItaly
      @TheSessionsVoicesItaly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Phoenix. It is clearly a tribute to indigenous cultures (the song is contained in an album of songs that stem from social justice movements). The landscape you see in the video is Umbria, THE region where some indigenous people of Italy come from - to this day their relationship to Mother Nature is something you can profoundly experience if you hang out with the people who have been living there for millennia. Pura Fe, one member of the Ulali and original singer/songwriter of this piece, complimented and thanked us for the tribute, which is clearly an act of love and respect (the songwriters got paid every time we sold a record or performed live, on top of that). We also teach music and many of our students went and listened to more Native-American music, which we believe should be listened to more in schools and in live concerts. That was also our cultural intention, rather than covering the next pop song. We also know the pronunciation isn't perfect - as Italian singers we could say the same thing about all those opera singers over the world who try to sing in Italian, but we don't because art goes beyond that, it's a connection between cultures. One of our students at 11 years old said, "Music is the only thing that brings people together." If you see the music and initiatives we did over the years you would understand where our soul is.

    • @TheSessionsVoicesItaly
      @TheSessionsVoicesItaly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also, you don't have to say, "wtf?". You can say the same thing respectfully and understand that in other parts of the world people are on the Native-Americans side.

    • @Krma-3
      @Krma-3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Being on our side with the heck does that even mean you don't face any of the issues we do and it doesn't give you permission to appropriate... as usual something you guys just don't ever understand it's not respectful so Don't Preach

    • @Krma-3
      @Krma-3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also we know pura fe personally many people do and she would never insult you because that's not who she is yet at the same time it doesn't give you permission either you just don't know our culture at all it's just more proof of exactly why we are always taking the high road and you keep taking so it doesn't give you permission still you just don't get that concept

    • @TheSessionsVoicesItaly
      @TheSessionsVoicesItaly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Krma-3 We never mentioned the fact we face your issues, nor did we assume a preachy tone but rather a respectful one. There is a difference between appropriation and appreciation: Here nobody is saying this is our song (again, the songwriters were credited and paid) nor we're trying to imitate Native-American singers, we're merely singing a BEAUTIFUL and POWERFUL song that touched the hearts of many worldwide several years ago when we were young. We intended it a tribute to the beauty of Native-American music which many activists agree should be taught in schools, (which we did with our students and fans in Italy, some of whom discovered Ulali and other Native-American artists because we exposed them to this in many live performances. We know for a fact that many of US music teachers don't do this). During our career we took several initiatives in activist groups in our country to face racial and social injustice. We have a history on standing up against injustice. Again, if the singer/songwriter of this song understood where we're coming we would love for you to consider that this is an act of love. We're sorry if you don't, maybe a face to face conversation could clarify.
