While not completely safe, in terms of gun violence, Mexico only gets it from the cartels, and even that is pretty well contained in big cities like Juárez, guns are banned for civilians in all of Mexico, so our gas stations, supermarkets, churches, malls and schools are a lot safer than any of those in the US right now, where, as you know, you can literally be in the middle of a mass shooting anywhere you can imagine. Not saying Mexico is better than the US nor anything, but you should really see the difference by yourself, stay safe.

I wouldn't walk in some areas in Juarez. That was near downtown and near one of the border crossings where there is security and police, and a few other Americans, it was still scary though lol
Cartel runs everything in cities. Even the cops are on their pay roll. Being outside means you run risk of getting tangled up as they might mistake you for an opp. Usually you'll be fine tho but it is a risk regardless
