These are really great. Is there a book out there that you, or anybody here, could recommend that gets really deep into this subdivision? I have found so little out there. The 5 over 4 or 2 poly rhythm concept sounds amazing. Want to learn more.
+V Fam After 9 years of drumming I've come to the conclusion that to got those rim shots, you have to know the snare you're using. You have to adjust it to a position that is comfortable to play for you, and then, practice the rim shots on it. You can either do it while playing songs, while doing other exercises or even just sitting in front of your snare and hitting it, searching for the right angle. It's really difficult to make "perfect" rim shots on a snare you've never played with before.
+V Fam Play with people who will make you use this sound. It will frustrate you until you learn how to play the snare drum like this. You can practice it, and practice is always good, but using it in a real situation is best. It's also the combination of all of her sounds, not just the snare. The kick drum is solid, and her hat sound works for this demo also. I am just finding out about Anika today, and I like where she's coming from!
Kaleb McGrath Lee Entertain me with your knowledge of what she is teaching us. If you know Mangini as I do from being one of his students, you will understand why I was complimenting her. Quintuplet grooves are not easy. Neither is the self control to avoid jumping to conclusions from a TH-cam comment.

+Noé Brugue
Hi mate, thx for that advice, it surely makes sense.
+Noé Brugue..... Enough sense in what you said
+Promzy Swagz I'm really sorry, English isn't my native language so when I'm trying to explain things it's difficult to understand me x)

ok, u just killed me there, but the good side of it, is that now I've got some work to do :D
is that a 20" or a 18" extra dry crash?
19" extra dry thin! :]
reminds me of my studies with Mangini
Y que guapa eres!!
These are great but a metronome would be helpful to give the syncopation some context. Still really cool though!
+Aaron Prather It's not syncopated, it's just quintuplets. Count in groups of 5. I like to use the verbal rhythm ta-ka-din-ah-gah
She like the female version of "Drew From The Drum Department" with all of her syncopations
so good)
akward grooves that should be studied for about 5 years and still never be used on 99,999% of the songs.
