I got to peak my head inside this car in November/December 2004 at King Motorsports. It still had the Mugen K20 in it. King Motorsports told me the short block was assembled at Mugen of Japan and they were NOT allowed to open it. They went on to say it had "Ultra Exotic Mugen Connecting Rods" they were not allowed to see. They said the rods alone were valued at $5,000 USD each rod! When I asked $20,000 for rods alone? I was told "Yes".
I did this livery on an S2000 in GT Sport. Living in WI, being a Honda enthusiast, King Motorsports and that car I used to cheer for! Great to see it still rolling!!! And thank you Larry for your time, you amazing person you.
SPEED channel was probably my first time seeing professional racing. I still remember seeing a shot of that old ZR1 Team Corvette ripping in a night race (what might have been a 6hour race or 24h le mans)
I peaked my head inside that RSX at King Motorsports in 2004 when they were installing/tuning my B18C5 Type-R engine. Clayton at King Motorsports told me it had "Ultra Exotic" Mugen connecting rods in it that cost $20,000! He said rods were the only part of the lower end that were allowed to be replaced for that race series, and Mugen was not effing around. He went on to say they were under strict orders from Mugen of Japan to NOT Open that engine up. Even the Mugen dealer was not allowed to touch those Mugen rods.
Here it is now 2024 and I was just telling someone the other day that it blows my mind how so many things from my childhood are becoming popular again! Underglow being one of those things. I don't like them much myself but when they're done right they do look sick. I always thought the lights that attach to the mirrors and shine the car logo straight to the ground are sick. Kinda looks like a little bat signal
I see a DC5 Acura RSX featured video... I click like 👀😍 Loved the short intro of the DC5 in action on the track! Really cool to find out this was a race car straight from Acura & it's cool to hear that the car was raced in Canada too. Wish we got more info on suspension & more info on the motor. I was yelling at the screen "Larry pan the camera down!! PAN DOWN" 😭 when the owner was talking about the motor. Definitely my favorite AutoFocus video! I hope to one day get into track racing with my RSX
It's so nice seeing track built RSX's getting some recognition 🤟🏻 I wasn't able to participate in NOLA with mine this year but I'm hoping next year I'll have a more consistent track schedule 🙌🏻
Came in the ap1 s2000 first though, we also put them in EP3/02-06 civic si, next to the shifter, there a space for it, but factory block off plate, go to dealership and for not much $ and it fits perfectly like it’s meant to be...
It did but that's not what is in his car. That specific button and part is from the 8th gen CTR. That's the reason it has that extra slot for fogs/traction control. It is what is installed in my 8th gen
Jeremy is the owner of JB Autosports aka Subispeed/FTSpeed and I'm not surprised he's thinking of building a GC Impreza. Great to see this RSX out again in the livery that some of us "mature" car guys can remember.
Should replace the clutch master cylinder with a EM1/2000si one, since your doing those other parts, the RSX is known to have these fail and leave you with a clutch pedal does not return to position (dead pedal) FYI
Dude made the mistake of gripping the wheel with his thumbs. You can tell after the impact with the other car that it hurt his left hand a little cause he shakes his left hand after the impact cause when your wheel gets jerked out of your hands in an impact the spokes on the steering wheel can injure or break your thumb. When racing grip the steering wheel with your fingers and palms only and that can't happen.
Also you “let go of wheel if going to impact/wall/spin out, cause it will break your wrists like a pencil.(i.e) he didn’t know he was gonna make contact but YES if every aspect your correct
@Sideways G I've done similar, suspension and brakes with some conti dws all seasons. 94k miles but the body is showing its age now. And my windshield is as pitted as my hood.
@Sideways G I don't even want to boost mine, i think really just the motor out of the tsx with an intake and exhaust, tune it to around 250-275 is what the car should've been all along.
in a way he kind of runine the car. it should be in a historical series. all original race trim from 20 years ago. it's like Chevy LS swapping a IndyCar or champ car back in the day.
If anyone wants to follow this car you can follow my Instagram @jb_bat That's really the only place I post updates and etc about it as well as other projects.

Nice to see my old car getting love!
Love it. May I ask what you did to the roof? Type R roof skin swap or weld the sunroof close?
@@misteramerica5893 welded the sunroof opening
@@misteramerica5893 we welded mine and the bumper gaps, sealed the panel seems. Made quite the difference

@@WisconsinEric those engines were all hype. Real time had much better.
Sitting in my rsx while watching this video brings huge smiles to my face
HAHAHAHAHA I'm doing the same thing.
Love the DC5. It's lightweight, good handling, high revving engine, easy to maintain, and the timeless style. My all-time favorite.

Larry called it... speed channel was awesome for the liveries on street cars. I've been designing & wrapping since 1996
I hope it comes back
SPEED channel was probably my first time seeing professional racing. I still remember seeing a shot of that old ZR1 Team Corvette ripping in a night race (what might have been a 6hour race or 24h le mans)
So proud to own a rsx type S can’t wait to do some time attack stuff next year
Thanks Jeremy for taking the time to talk to Larry and for keeping that car on the track. Awesome stuff...
I recently followed this car from Anointed Aero, this car is awesome and to see it on Hoonigan is something else
I wish they went over suspension setup especially with how finicky their suspension could be
Never had a build goal for my 300zx till I learned about GLTC, now GLTC is what I'm building for
Please never cancel Hoonigan AutoFocus 🙏
This is all I want for Christmas 🎅
Larry’s not goin anywhere..
Sick video. Sick car. Sick guy. Love seeing these more grass roots racing cars, this one is seriously cool, awesome history!
This is the makings of a legend. Patina on the door are the highest honor of "decals"

Gltc is what I’ve been waiting for since playing prostreet as a kid. I was always super jealous of Australia’s improved production series
This makes me love my rsx even more! So much potential with these cars!
Mugen..Top Secret..and Spoon. The true O.G. of aftermarket parts. I had the Mugen pin stripped on my 98 coupe. Awesome 😉
Another great episode. I totaled my RSX during an HPDE event in September and miss it badly now.
Idk if it's just me. But I love the song/beat at the end of these videos.
Such an awesome vlog! Giving love to the DC5 Track Adicts. Now I know my future mods would look like 🥳
I love that underglow is making a comeback 🙏

I know this kind of takes the focus off the video but I still to this day say that Larry chen has the coolest Outro

@@garonjohnson5922 That 3 year reply tho. Maybe I missed that mention of factory susp

Love the RSX!! Thanks for the feature Larry!! TBH this is more fun to watch than F1.
Cool video! That black NC Miata from Thing 3 Racing sure is looking sharp out there battling with the RSX too
i remember when that car was for sale in canada. nice to know what happened to it
I remember seeing this car at ITR Expo one year - 2003? at Beaverun.
Getting a type s Monday😋
Did not expect the engine bay would be so damn clean! ❤️
Still crazy I got to see this car and the old spoon Canada DC2 together
"Because nobody's running a Subaru RS".........Directly behind him is an RS on a trailer.
not in GLTC
I miss my Rsx-s/dc5, and would kill to have this number 37 chassis/factory race car, but with a 300-400hp NA itb’ed monster
Damn brody you gonna build me a 400 hp non boosted kseries? You'd be a legend.
That start button is from an 8th gen CTR FD2! Sick!
I'd love to own one of the RSXs from that series. Super cool

Proper sweet little race car that

Awesome car! Clean GC in the background too
Wow. Just wow!
Larry Chen is best
I have one one of these type s getting the clutch and fly wheel replaced its an 03 after 17 years new clutch and flywheel going in
Niiiiice
Should replace the clutch master cylinder with a EM1/2000si one, since your doing those other parts, the RSX is known to have these fail and leave you with a clutch pedal does not return to position (dead pedal) FYI
I love my base rsx.
When are you guys going to feature one of the GLTC kmiatas??
Is this a JDM / USDM hybrid chassis? I didn't see a moonroof opening...
Always hated moonroofs.
I sold my RSX recently and this just makes me miss it. I’ll probably get another one in the future
I too am looking st a 2.5i impreza. Sub 3000 lbs and 170 ft lbs of torque? Not exactly a monster bit the awd and grip would be awesome
Any subie heads spot the GC8 in the background?
pretty sure this car was restored by SHG Motorworks
Me, in my home garage. SHG did the realtime rsx at the same time about a mile up the street
The GT Lexus team has lights up on the roof , and everyone’s seen the lit numbers on the doors of Lm cars , party mode should be a rule
Anyone else think that center net needs a tech inspection?
How you get started in this type of race
The 1st b-roll scene the car is on Konig Hypergram and all the other scene its on RPF1..🤔
Wanted to see more racing....
Beautiful
i see that foundation sticker.
Love the content....just hate how old Honda’s going up in value

Iirc the front suspension geometry has been modified from factory
Gem 💎
What is the song at the end?
Larry,” Just a K24 with uhhh some 6 speed ..idk
Viewers,” um..what? Do you not appreciate it ? Lol
Very cool 😎
This makes me regret selling my type s ☹️
Man, selling a Type -S? I wouldn’t never done it
Sideways G Yep these type of car will never come back
My base model is sitting on the mugen dc5r sports suspension 👌
Now if only I could save and pull the trigger on a k24 swap...
@Sideways G I've done similar, suspension and brakes with some conti dws all seasons. 94k miles but the body is showing its age now. And my windshield is as pitted as my hood.

Him: "what do you do with something like this?"
me: Whispers "turbo"...

Never heard Larry curse. Lol
Should have went HybridRacing on the shifter setup
Why?
I have the same K-TUNED short shifter. It's serious and I have K-TUNED shifter cables. My RSX doesn't know what relax means.
Might build a Subaru 2.5RS it’s unique like the car immediately in the background... bahahaha
damn shes pretty. mines not costum but shes pretty too
DC5 has bad suspension geometry. I wonder how they made it competitive
Man Larry really ruins these interviews he talks over people way too much.
100% Agree!
More racing. Less talking.
“...when ur Done racing...”??? i dont like hearing that for some reason
People get old and slowy stop functioning as well as they get older. Additionally, people's interest change over time.

Cool car, owner seems very detached passion-wise from the vehicle though. The "not really a honda guy" shows. But at least hes keeping it going.
Should have used a CL type S
