Ashley, First time viewer and enthusiastic new subscriber! Great video instructions...been hunting 50 plus years and I learned a lot of tips and how to s. Will recommend your channel to all my hunting buddies and my sons and SILs. Happy holidays.
EXCELLENT INSTRUCTIVE VIDEO , great teaching … you took the mystery out of the process that many of us wanna-bees want to know and learn… good photography angles also … Gonna try again on my next deer .. hopefully this afternoon… Armada , Michigan
Excellent video and great explanation. As a hunter who does some out of state hunting, where you are not able to bring bone/brain matter home, this is invaluable if I ever get a deer worth mounting. 😊. New subscriber!
First time sub and new hunter. Always wondered how you do that it’s a big process. I’m a new hunter so thanks for showing me. Will share thanks again.🙏🏽
Very instructive video I've. video. I've been doing this for a few years now, and I picked up some really good tips from you. Thank you. I will put this video in my taxidermy file. and I'm going to become a subscriber of yours. John, W. Hang Town, California.
Awesome job & really like your work... always comes out so well! What's the biggest deer & oddest/weirdest way you've ever been asked to mount a deer or another animal?
This video is very instructive and helpful because I'm thinking of becoming a taxidermist myself. I've been watching your videos for about 2 months now, and they're inspiring me to learn more about anatomy of animals, unique attributes in different species, and taxidermy as a whole. Also, random question(s). When rifle hunting what caliber would you use for most species of big game? (EDIT) When did you first get into taxidermy or know you wanted to do taxidermy? Sorry if you've already mentioned that in a video before.
Thanks and great timing. Any chance you can go thru the rest of the mounting processes and break them down with this same level of detail? Id love to try to do a DIY deer mount. Been reading and watching videos during the winter (last year) in hopes of giving this a go at some point.
Buen video gracias por compartir tu eres mi maestra tengo un año asiendo taxidermy amis trofeos... pero próxima mente are trabajos a personas de ty eh aprendido muchos pasos y trucos saludos de todo corazón desde lake elsinore cal
Thanks so much for doing this video I love watching them. I just have one question if you want to start getting into taxidermy what kind of animal do you think is good to start on. I live in southern New Mexico, so there is not very many squirrels, but there were lots of rabbits, coyote, deer, elk, barberry sheep and pronghorn so which do you think is the best to start on. Love your videos keep it up thanks.❤
Thank you for watching! I think a deer or coyote would be easiest out of those! Rabbit skin is paper thin so that might be tricky to start. Antelopes are prone to spoiling fast, and aoudads and elk are just pretty big
@ thank you so much that helps me a lot. One last question, do you recommend any kits to get started or do you think it will be better to just buy all of the supplies? Thanks so much 👍👍👍
My dad made me do this with every buck I took as a kid/teenager haha. Now I do it for all of my buddies. Not sure if it was a post by you or someone else I saw but do you cool the hide or something before actually freezing it? I believe it was supposed to help with capes slipping or something.
That is great experience! It’s a good skill to know! I mentioned it in another video I did, and yes that’s a great thing to do before rolling up and freezing! I like to set the cape in the freezer flat for like half an hour to cool it before rolling it up and bagging. It’s especially helpful on longer-haired deer/other animals
Ashley was a guest at our place in Colorado. What a wonderful soul. Her and her super dog Pine are welcome back any time !!!!!
Hey Bill!! That’s so kind, you and Kathy are the best! 🥹 I hope you guys are doing well!!

How much is an average shoulder mount for a blacktail?
I paid 375$ for mine and that was in 2009 by a professional! Looks great to this day.
