    Hey, I appreciate you taking the time to produce this video. I used it to help a friend do a valve adjustment on his 2004 rsx. After we put everything back together and started the engine, there was a randomly occurring light snapping sound, sort of like the sound of a water drop hitting the ground. When he revved the engine a bit, the sound occurred more frequently and it was louder. Do you have any idea what we did wrong and how we can fix it?

    • @salvobrothers5928

      the water drop hitting the ground sound has me confused but it sounds like you may have missed on one of your adjustments causing that snapping noise i would recheck and make sure you got it all perfect

    So when you get to top dead center, you adjust the Intake side and then exhaust side after? And then follow the same adjustment in firing order?

    • @salvobrothers5928
      @salvobrothers5928  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This video is awesome! I changed the valve cover gasket on my rsx, but I noticed 1 of my valves didn't line up properly with the rest. Could this be the cause of my misfire issue? How can I adjust the valve into properly alignment. Any advice?

    You don’t check the clearance between the camshafts lobe and the bearing on the rocker?

    • @salvobrothers5928
      @salvobrothers5928  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope you just check the space between the rocker arm and the valve stem caught by the spring

  • @yetidh9
    @yetidh9 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Isn’t the chain tensioner driven by oil pressure? Checking tension with no oil pressure doesn’t make sense. Do you check valve clearances on a warm engine?

    • @salvobrothers5928
      @salvobrothers5928  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can still notice a slack chain even when oil pressure is not applied the ecotechs are known for that

    • @JDMSMOKEY03
      @JDMSMOKEY03 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the tension was driven by a spring inside the tensioner itself pressing on the guide. Can you please explain how oil pressure has anything to do with it?

    • @yetidh9
      @yetidh9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JDMSMOKEY03 The spring is only there to provide tension during low oil pressure conditions, such as startup. Oil pressure provides the tension. Oil is supplied to the tensioner on the reverse side through a port in the block. Most tensioner failures occur during startup when there is low oil pressure. More aggressive cams and valve springs put more force on the timing chain and tensioner.

    • @Nikko-zi3ti
      @Nikko-zi3ti 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JDMSMOKEY03 you are correct, tensioner is it’s own thing and tan by spring tension. once you release the pin the rod will go out pushing onto the back of the guide and even had a little locking mechanism to not allow it to go back in.

    • @JDMSMOKEY03
      @JDMSMOKEY03 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Nikko-zi3ti u can actually push it back in if u push on it a lil and then hold up the “locking” piece on top. I only did that because my tensioner is still pretty new and was just swapping my z3 cams for 06 tsx cams.

    Does any one have the specs for the intake and exhaust valves on a k20z1 head? I’m running ferrea 5000 series valves and once the vehicle started it is making like a small tapping noise coming from the head. The specs I used where 0.21-0.25mm for intake and 0.25-0.29 mm for exhaust.
