Ben.. its getting scary.. I seem to look at my bike and think about something then a day later you're posting about fixing it the next day.. good video mate
This is helpful, thanks! I have a slight "rattle", only under acceleration, in my Classic 350. But I'm reasonably certain the valves need to be adjusted (bike is new / under 300 miles / in its run-in period). Will check this tensioner today, and valves will be checked / adjusted at 300 miles, as per RE.
Curious, how did things go? I just bought a classic 350 and it has a bit of a rattle after heating up, still under 300 miles, hasn't had its first service yet.
Hello Ben, I have 2022 BS6 HIMALAYAN. The problem is that since 500km on the meter I'm getting a very mild 'tik tik' noise form the left side of the engine. This increases with increase in heat as well as kms that i cover in the vehicle in one stretch. I took it to the service centre and they are claiming it's normal which I'm sure is not. Upon my research I found that this is an issue with either the timing chain or the tensioner. Can you suggest me a way/solution to this?
Can i do this without prior checking on the whole tensioner? Just so you know i did what you did and it became a whole lot SILENT but i'm kinda worried if im putting too much tension to the extent im damaging the timing chain? Keep in mind mine just ran about 4,000km and the reason i followed your video is that I am bothered with the noise it is making on the left side of the engine which is more likely the timing chain noise.
@@marcocalilung4511 there is a way you can determine the additional pressure being applied. Look for the no of grooves / notches that are sticking out on the ratchet rod before you insert a spacer . And then insert spacer and put the tensioner back and go for a nice quick ride ( high rpm’s included) . Now open the unit and count the additional notches that are sticking out . 1-2 notches more is nothing for you to worry about . Ideal is 1 . If it is 2 then ride the bike in a soft manner for atleast 100 kms ( just a guess) or more so that things align gradually.
Also this is an alternative if you cannot procure a new spring but have to buy a whole new tensioner unit . Also the right spacer compensates for loss in spring pressure ( compared to a new one ) .
i dont know why i kinda getting a rattling sound from front of my cluster part. i dont know whether its from instrumental cluster or from windshield. i have checked and replaced the rubbers of windshield but can still hear the sound at certain RPMs Any solution?
@ found the issue and have resolved it. There is a metal part at top of the headlight assembly, there was a rubber part on it, i have dismantled once and forgot to put on the rubber part it seems. Now i have replaced the instrumental cluster, Rubber, Etc etc but this was the issue🤦🏻♂️😂. Went through a lot. Thanks for Royal Enfield for replacing those items under warranty. But it was just an 2 rupees solution consumed at least 13k for instrumental clusters and 3.5 k for radiator(Replaced as the service centre damaged while changing instrumental cluster). RE need more improvements on Checking issues with bikes.
Rather than adding a space will it be okay to change the spring? I have the same issue on my bike! What might be the reason of such awkward shape happening with the spring? Any advise to avoid
Hey Ben.. thanks for valuable information.. I am facing an issue on my Himalayan.. the meter assembly is not looking straight (i mean it looks like it has moved towards right side (may be due to fall) handlebar and meter assembly is not in a straight line.. it feels so weird.. pls help me out if have any clue... Thanks in advance buddy
Bruh I have screwed things up I have open the complete set as I cudnt open the spring net 1 so I opened the complete set now I can’t put it back :( the spring net is worn out any suggestions
i was getting knocking sound for past couple of months, the mechanic couldnt figure out what the reason was, last week i took my himalayan for a checkup for the knocking issue, he opened up the engine and we found out that one of the rocker arms has become loose. Could this be the reason for knocking sound ? please help
yes , very much a possibility. loose rocker arms cause a lot of noise and should be replaced immediately . But what you refer to as a knock is a vast topic highly misunderstood.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN the guy showed me the rocker arm, and also showed me the camshaft, camshaft shaft had some marks which according to the mechanic was coz of the loose rocker, he asked me to get both things changed, what should i do, because the knocking sound is very loud.
Ben, what about adding a ball bearing in there? what length is length (is there a factory tolerance) will be a good way to check how weak / compressed has become and if needs replaced
Why not just buy a new spring? I appreciate a nice bodge but certainly this part is too critical to not just going with whatever the factory intended the correct tension to be.
good one mate. Kudos for the great work. I own a Himalayan bs6 and you are like a manual to me.
That’s kind of you . Glad that these videos help fellow bikers

Ha ha .. bound to happen brother . We have the same steed and pretty much have similar riding preferences and also have TH-cam channels 😆😆😆
As usual, another fantastic video.

My bike too have a tik tik noise when the engine gets heated up..does changing this could slove the problem...and how much does this cost?
Great One Again. Liked it.

Ossom bro, you help me. I from brazil, my only option is import a new one in ebay. I will make this and wait the courier with a new one.

That may be time engine problem. Check and conform
@@marzadmuhammad5212 Replaced the timing chain as well the tensioner and the issue still persists.
Might be the auto decompression mech on the cam, the retaining spring fails and you get a ticking noise.
Hey bro is your problem resolved ? how do you fix the ‘tik tik’ noise , this same problem im facing with my himalayan BS6
@@siddhantingole1222 what about yours?

is the spacer advisable on long rides or high RPM? Or am i damaging my timing chain more with the spacer?

would be interessting if its better to weld a spot or a washer onto the top of the spanner so it does not have to reach in that far....
Thank you sir it worked ❤

I am not sure if this is your issue but the screws inside the instrument cluster could've come loose (it happens to almost all Himalayans😂).

I've been watching all your videos trying to figure out what the sound is.. It's driving me nuts.
Hello, could you tell what kind of noise did you have on your Himi before? Was it a tic-tic noise or a sort of metallic friction/ vribration?
The tic . The metallic vibration can be a lot of different things
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN for sure! But what about you?! What sort of noise did you have?
Another good mod well done ben
Thanks 👍
how long re Himalayan timing chain last?
Not sure yet brother .
Bro you should include the noise also I mean the engine noise
Yes friend , I should have but it’s a minute difference in noise in my case and the camera microphone doesn’t capture it .
Absolute genius

Buy the interceptor tensioner 470₹ I guess and take the spring from that and use in the tensioner of the Himalayan

Is that gonna cost because of that sound... Why because I have just rides 2.5k km it's been 2 months on Oct 1 I got my bike

Hi sir I have one month old Himalayan which is driven 1800 km , issue is getting ticking nois or crank noise I don't know so how do I solve e
take it to SC or a good mech .
Where to buy gasket bro...need it
New chain tensioner . Can’t buy gasket separately.
It scares me but I'm going to try

take it to a welder. 2 mins job for him to remove the jammed nut. or buy a new timing chain tensioner set. 450 rs
is the gasket available as a spare part in re spare parts shop?
Yes
Thanks mate.

The components inside the engine have higher tolerances , that’s why . This is the nature of the engine . DO NOT WORRY.
