The material from 22:40 to 23:43 is made from live-action footage. The construction was put on display in a glass box in the foyer at Broad Street for a few years. I enquired about getting hold of it when Central moved out of the Broad Street building and was told that it was put up for auction. I wonder who bought it?
TV Ark has the Broad Street auction on there somewhere, or one of the other presentation sites, and someone bought it there... ...for the display case, not the model. Ignorant person probably threw it away.
These idents use the Roland JD-800, D-50, U-220, L-CD701, R8, Korg M1, and some more I didn't mention here. If you know what the other synths and samplers are, feel free to tell me.
"Comedy this Wednesday night, here on Central, as Freddie Starr joins Des O'Connor, that's at eight. Back to this evening, and the laughs come courtesy of The Upper Hand. That's in a couple of minutes.".
I would suggest the 1994 pres kit was made 'pre' Carltonisation, as once this look aired the typography except for the 'Central' legend became Gill Sans and weights and variants thereof. Shame to think the cake's days were numbered by this point in time. Even Central News kept the cake after Central themselves dropped it.
@@chookwangzhee1889 I didn't think it did but right you are, seen a few videos of continuity recorded at the time! Carlton had planned to obliterate the Central name a lot earlier though; it was only resistance from what remained of Central's directors and the local viewers getting wind of it through an Evening Mail article that enough stink was kicked up to retain the name until 1999.
During work experience at Central in 1993 I was given a VHS of the 1993 Pres Kit demo (since donated to TV Ark) which contained a lot of identical material to the first part of this (0:00 to 23:45). I think the material from 24:20 to 36:34 is not from the same 93 kit, based on the less distinctive music and the weaker typography - was it brought in for autumn 93... or perhaps before the 93 version?
I believe the material from 24:20 up to 25:17 dates back to original 1985 Cake launch. It's not from that set perse but it's related. I believe they are from the 1987 addition when they added the byline of "Let's Get Together"
Miss the different local idents, love the extended one that was played when there was technical problems.
Central wasn't my region, but they had the prettiest identity logo with those rainbow colours.

Actually when the look was first rolled out it did use Futura initially, but in the following months around 1995, they switched over to gill sans

38:49 What material is this in this central ID?

16:45 and 37:57 are my favorites
Interesting to see this, I remember playing these off a laser disc. Jim Stokoe mega mix.
In my ITV america series, Liberty Television is the american equivalent to Central Television.

“Next on comdyvivson 64 objects are fighting for BFDI It’s battle for B.F.B!”
No
imagine at that time
It is on laserdisc
I wish I had the discs for this. They would have been Sony CRV discs. I've got a player for them.
Central definitely had the best idents. Miss them when i moved to south coast Meridian. Absolutely shite.
39:29 Hmm, based on the colors, does that part of the Central cake resemble something familiar?
Yorkshire 😂
Or the lightning symbol from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers :P
HTV maybe?
20:37
Are you recording this from a pioneer laserdisc player?
Ident Radiovision Central/Radiovision Western History 1965-Present

Interesting…
When it first arrived in 1985 it was great. They must have had a never ending budget but as the years went on the variations got worst and even crap
