  • A quick look at how to install a weld-less spigot into an aluminum 15 gallon kettle. Same steps also apply to adding a sight gauge. I hope this is helpful to some of you watching.
If you are going to try to follow along and do this you may want to check out the blog post about installing a spigot: braceofcrows.bl... also.
    Thanks for watching.

New subscriber! I was thinking about putting a spigot on the bottom of my large counter top fryer. I've never used it because cleaning it looked difficult.

Thank you. Cleaning isn't hard if you have a big sink to put the pot in. I use hot water and non-metal scrubs to clean my pot. Don't want scratches where nasties can hide.

Wanting to add a spigot to my "brew kettle" (aka just a regular ole pot) - but I boil my wurt on a propane burner - would something like this hold up to that sort of heat?

Use oil when you're drilling the hole! Unless you like ruining bits and making things harder than they need to be...

Great idea. I have a valve. Where did you buy the high temp washers and nuts?

Thank you. I got the o-rings at my local homebrew store. Amazon has them too, I think, or your local hardware store. Just make sure you get food-grade silicone.

I'm new here but it looks like the same setup that I want to use to boil peanuts with. And I have to boil that for 4 to 5 hours at really high heat. Will those washers and gaskets with stand the heat?

Check the gaskets you are getting. The ones I got were high temperature gaskets. I've held a boil for 90 minutes with no problem. Just be sure to verify with your supplier that they are high heat, food-grade gaskets.

Who manufactured the spigot, is it available on Amazon Prime

Not sure about Prime, but it is available on amazon. Search for "Heavy Duty 1/2" Weldless Bulkhead w/Stainless Steel Valve". The one i bought was from Bargain Home Brew.

Where did you get the spigot

Thanks for watching and asking, Joe. It's been a while since I did thin, but if memory serves, I ordered the spigot from Northern Brewer online. They can be found on Amazon too, I think.

Could you do this to a Presto Fry Daddy for melting wax?

As long as it's metal I don't know why not. Then again I'm not a metallurgist, just an average joe. Sorry for the delay here.
