Wow, a Blue-fronted Amazon for a first bird!! That is _very_ ambitious, however seeing how it all turned out it is obvious they were destined for each other.
Alicia is a brave person to take on an Amazon, my hat goes off to her. Looks like Bucco has a great life ahead because she really wants to enrich his life as much as she can. Birdtricks was the best choice Alicia could make when it comes to a happy healthy free flying parrot. Congratulations to you, for making the right choice. Thank you for the upload.
That is just fantastic! Her understanding -"He's a bird" and not taking it personal. That's the hardest thing. It's not personal for him, it's his way of saying "no", or "I'm frustrated" nothing else. It doesn't mean you're a failure, he doesn't like you.

I’ve had a amazon parrot since I was 5 and she just died recently I’m about to turn 19 now And I’m so upset ,these parrots are the most wonderful perfect parrots I miss her yelling all across the house and hearing her voice first thing in the morning will always have love for these birds ,rest in peace Lola❤️

What an amazing woman! She is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Bucco scored so big with her. That's what a mother does. They look at how to give the best quality of life and its all about whats best for the bird! Just makes us all want to do better as bird owners. Thanks Birdtricks for featuring Bucco's story. I just love amazons! They love to party and sing/ scream but they can also be really calm and relaxed birds. They are just the perfect match for me and it seems like they are the perfect match for Alicia too.

Seeing this video really brightened my day! 🖤 I recently adopted a 6mth old cockatiel and hes been with me for about a month and I was sad/worried bc I am having trouble gaining his trust and getting him to bond with me. I will just continue being patient and I know it will happen eventually with lots of time and care I think I can do it 🖤✨🌺🐦🕊️ I just want to be the best bird mom I can be.
I also adopted a Canary Winged Parakeet and I will finally be meeting them soon. 🖤

I love seeing them flying. The only time I’ve been around larger birds is back in the Jurassic era when I worked at the vet’s. The receptionist had a green parrot like Bucco at the front desk (not caged). I’m looking at the decades old scar on my finger he left me. I steered clear of him after that. I love that Alicia stuck with it despite the bites! They hurt!

He looks a lot like my blue fronted amazon parrot Timo. Amazons are beautiful and unique creatures, they are quite strong minded and bossy but if you treat them with utmost love and respect they are very rewarding and form a strong bond with their human.

What fun Bucco was having!!!! I would love to do that with my two Amazons... the only thing that really scares me is 1) what if they didn't come back (I would be devastated), and 2) how to you make sure no hawks/eagles/other birds of prey aren't around. That would be awful!

What a touching story, and what amazing work she has done to understand Bucco. My grandparents on my dad's side had a blue fronted amazon named Clyde, who was never out of his cage in all the times I visited as a child, and eventually had no toys either. I don't know where Clyde is now, but I hope he is with someone like Alicia who can help him thrive in the later part of his life.

Yes, I have owned my Double Yellow Headed Amazon for a few years now.. Yep, mine can and will bite hard too, still got to work on that step up thingy...ouch! I can see how that desert environment would not encourage you beloved pet to loose contact with you quite as easily.
