@@spiritmatter1553 I don't think it's unusual for animals to bond with one person. They have personalities as unique as people as you can see TICO has his own strong little one.
Tico has just entered BirdTricks boot camp. Frank seems to be buying into the program, of proper diet & rest. I smell sweet, sweet success. I'll bet Tico will be free flying within 6 mos.

I've trained horses, dogs, birds, and snakes and have discovered that the hardest part about training animals is training the people.
yep I am the worst problem I have with training..always trying to make ME better to make the training better. Bless my flock for putting up with me lol.
As a dog trainer…….amen! I do agree with you. The problem with most if not all dogs is at the other end of the leash. The human!

It's the same with kid's! I have been a nanny and a babysitter for years...I finally stopped cause the parents are the REASON kids act they way they do!
They would tell me,"oh my goodness my kids are so well behaved when you watch them", and I would show them how.... But the minute I left..... All my hard work would go right down the drain 🤦🏻♀️

Id never heard of Tico before and I'm blown away. This bird is seriously a musician. It's like he knows what genre/mood is going on and sings in that "language". Really neat story and people. I think Gina is such a kind soul and I'd wanna be around her more than anyone, too. 😄💕
100% Agreed! Very good and classy people, and humble to the core. . They have true hearts of Gold. When I vacation in Washington State, twice a year....Everybody gets freaked out, by my Tico Ringer, where he yells Frank's name, 3 times. 🤣😂😂🤣🤣😁😎❤️

This is great. I've been watching and listening to Tico and the Man, Frank for many months now and I went through this training and diet change with Louie, my Macaw. The transition was not instant and Louie would toss the new food everywhere while he was having a tantrum. I almost gave up but I am glad I stuck with it. About a month into it, he started loving so many fresh foods, veggies fruit, grains,, occasional scrambled egg and pasta, and he is much happier and less aggressive. He used to bite me and make me bleed but after training and a new diet, and his own sleep room, he stopped biting me hard. Louie used to cling to me, like Tico does with Gina, but now he is more well-balanced and confident and trusting & respecting the entire family. Keep up with the training, diet & sleep because it will give everyone in the family a positive result. and he will be singing his heart out and enjoying life even more!

FRANK! FRANK!!!! FRAAAAAAAAAAANK!!!!! Had me laughing sooooooo hard. That little guy is full of personality!
It’s uncanny. Now we know that T&TM can perform outside the home on cue, only if Gina is within his line of sight! Gina, take care of yourself and don’t go away, because you are the key to this musical phenomenon! You may usually be out of sight behind the camera, but everything comes to a crashing halt without you!
I just realised how difficult it may be for people to learn how to behave around birds as to not scare them. I've had budgies and an African Grey around me since I was born. I must have picked up what stresses them early in my life and don't have to think consciously about how to move in their presence without scaring them. Not that I don't do sometimes- I'm rather clumsy, so I sometimes drop things and get criticised harshly for that by the birds. 😂
Anyway, I knew Tico and Frank's channel before, so adorable, and was surprised to see them here. And I'm delighted to see that Frank was committed to do this for Tico's sake. It takes something to admit "alright, we've got some things to improve here", even more so when you've got a successful youtube channel running already. 🙂👍
This is so good to see. Frank and Gina seem eager to learn how to give Tico proper star treatment - good quality food, good sleep and training.
I've been following their channel since the beginning and I'm ready for Tico 2.0 🤗

My husband and I have a 30 something yr old yellow nape Amazon. Watching this has given us hope that she isn’t too old to learn something new.
That's so cool! Once the diet is changed and he gets better sleeping habits, I'm sure much of the behavioral issues will go away. Best of luck to Frank and Gina! And Tico too!

Such a blast watching the videos of these two wonderful families together. Glad the Womachs could make the trip, just wish you were staying longer so we could watch the continued progress. I really learned a lot in this video! Important to keep aware in the moment and keep refining observations, even when you think you "already know" what is happening - and by "you", I mean " me"!
The Tico and The Man videos clearly show the joy, love and respect in their extended family. They lift spirits around the world, giving of themselves as do BirdTricks. Hope Frank and Gina give us training updates, and maybe there could be a yearly BirdTricks boat ride and check-in! He is an incredible bird. Just like I have a dog everyone says should be a service dog. Something they are just born with and it’s a very rare characteristic

According to Bird Tricks it means the bird is excited and has your full attention.
Parrots will often speak while in this state but ….it could also be a precursor to a bite lol 😊
Wow in all this time watching Tico and Frank it was so nice to see the beautiful Gina in front of the camera for a change. For the most part Tico was just being Tico. We love Tico and what Gina and Frank have done for him.
These Bird Tricks folks are excellent! I also figured that, after 20 years, Tico is set in his ways and would be like, “You think you gonna train me? You wanna get bitten?” But it’s working! Tico, the best is yet to come! Keep up the good work, everyone!
I find it sad that some people think Frank's main interest is money ... I have yet to find another channel besides "Tico and the Man" where people post zero negative comments, so why the animosity?

Totally agree. I mean, he discovered Tico's talent accidentally. If anything, I sometimes wonder if Frank feels pressure to post more videos because the fans love it so much. Delicate work/life/health balance, but I think they're making it work, with lots of love all around

She's an opera singer who started to analyze Heavy Metal and Rock and Roll singers, then she discovered how much she liked it so she started getting into metal and her journey has been outstanding! I’ve learned so much to here. I’ve had a grey over 20 years and you have changed her life. I have just inherited another 26 years old, very traumatic for her coming here! Owner passed away sadly. Family thought they’d cope, but they ended up unable to cope and her behaviour was very bad attacking people. With your vids and wisdom I’m gaining positive ground. She’s completely in love Witt my husband literally over the top. He’s not a parrot man so he needs training. Caught him sharing coffee with her! I know bad man. But I now have hope. I let both birds out together, they don’t get close wary because obviously they’ve not seen another parrot. But it’s so interesting seeing new one becoming happy.

This is so cool! I adore Tico, and it seems like these suggestions and techniques will make him healthier, calmer, more focused and more disciplined. He is a smart lil creature. As Frank said, maybe he'll get to do Jimmy Fallon one of these days after all, and we'll see a sweet Questlove/Tico&Man collaboration 😀🥁🐦🎸
I really enjoyed this so much. I have pet birds, and have watched the Bird tricks family for years before Tico came on you tube. I love to see how Tico interacted with everyone, especially Gina. Where she is filming it makes sense he is constantly playing up to her. I really love seeing Tico behind the scenes, and this along with bird tricks was a awesome video.
I had an Amazon who had bonded with me, but he was certainly unpredictable! He also loved children that would come to visit, but when the children had to leave, he would be angry with me and refused to step up on my hand or go to his cage. I would usually get nailed at times like this. He never ever hurt the children. But when Amazon's do that tail fanning and eye pinning, watch out. I used to buy a product called Crazy Corn, it came in 4 varieties that you would cook and serve, and could also be frozen and thawed. Oatmeal with fresh fruit was a treat. He could say about 75 different words and phrases, sing, and whistle some songs.
My Blue Front does the same thing around my grandkids!

I am a dog trainer (30 years) and I know positive reinforcement very well. I make training fun. I can train without a treat because they get excited when I say “do you want to practice?” All my 8 birds turn around, most wave, they all give a paw, half go big wings. My first 5 were rescued from horrible circumstances and have baggage. The most resistant is my Quaker, but he is making small progresses.

Tico!!!!! ♥️ so interesting to see the training in action. My parrotlet Tuco is very upset with me during the day and won’t let me near him. Then, as soon as nightfall hits, he lets me hug and kiss and rub his head for as long as I want! Go figure??? 🤷🏻♀️🦜
His eyes were pinning when Gina did it. You should teach him "touch" with the stick. I taught my bird to touch my finger with his claw when I said touch....and didn't give him anything but praise.

This is so interesting. Frank, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. It is just knowing how, and doing what works for "them".
I have a 23 yr old African Grey parrot. We make sure he gets 12+ hours of sleep. We feed him a balanced diet, if I deviate he plucks and screams. We taught him our own contact calls so he can communicate with us as a bird and not just with human language. He's a sweet bird and blows me kisses when I tell him I love him. Greys are alot different than Amazons.
It's so great to see so much love and companionship with a friend and his people. I love watching Tico. He really brightens my day! Tico, just keep bringing smiles to the world.

The people of bird tricks know a lot about birds, and they are always willing to teach. Tico know and like his name, he pronounce him very often, because it is an easy name to pronounce. Nice vid again, and an educational one, especially for people that have birds. It is nice to know more about Tico. Till the next vid.

Tico seems to be a natural talent that imho doesn't really need training to develop. Over time his repertoire has steadily expanded.

Parrots imprint on one person. A relative of mine had a sulphur crested cockatoo. Whilst he wasn’t afraid of anyone in the family of 5, the mother was the only one who could touch him and he would viciously bite anyone else who tried to touch him. He drew blood on many who tried. They also are more likely to respond to a female voice than a males because of the normal higher pitch of a female voice.

I don’t think he likes the click noise! Neither do I! Try a different softer sound please! He is a musician with highly sensitive hearing guys! js perhaps a soft tuned noise is better. I’m a musician/vocalist from a musical family and a successful Clinician so I get the behavioral management but you must also recognize the hearing sensitivities of our Star boy! Thanks.

Animals are amazing, when given the right amount of love and training they're never too old to be trained. Tico seems to want to learn and its a new thing for him but he is obviously very smart. Loved seeing this. Clicker training is awesome too, I have used this method on my two older dogs when they were young.
Do you happen to know if Tico is Brazilian? Because Amazon is not only in Brazil. I hope he is because I am. He is got the colours of our flag.

This was so great! The best of TH-cam as far as I'm concerned.
Years ago, we had new neighbors move in over the winter. We had met them but hadn't gone into their home. First sunny warm day of spring, I heard someone singing songs in Spanish. I opened the door and on their porch was a parrot in a cage singing full songs in Spanish. It was their daughter's bird, who was away at college. He had belonged to an Hispanic couple who had died in old age and he was re-homed. The bird was over 50 years old by then. Great bird.
