James what have you done! I have just watched a shifting metal vid, and you have sold the most interesting car you have had in a long time. What a lovely Guilietta
Great idea with Brooke. Cracking first car although i still reckon she should have gone for The workbench. Venga looked good. Im intrigued to see whst price it goes up at
That Kia drivers seat suggest a rather heavy bottom doing many many shirt trips. A lot of wear for that mileage. That hand written service record (for the Alfa) doesn't say the timing belt was changed .. it only says it was checked for wear. Presumably, in much the same way as you would accurately predict a tyre blow out!
Good plan on the daughter working for the car .She will then take more care of her purchase. She can give it a service as well good practice for when she takes over CG cars
Those Vengas tend to rust at the top of the rear door frame inside the rubber seal. Looked at a few before for a friend of mine and seemed to be a common occurance. I think it was included as a recall?
I had one of those new in white 2016-2020 when i traded it in for a Giulia, only issue i had was the AC compressor which failed- which was sorted under warrenty, absoltely loved it!
The Giulietta is a lovely car and a great all rounder in my experience, in almost five years of ownership, albeit of a much more ordinary diesel version. And a lot more reliable than the last VW Golf I owned.
Just got this on the 26th. See the date on it Oct 3rd. At last an upbeat positive report after all the horrible customers and bad luck you've reported on over the last few weeks hope your luck holds.
Hi Chops, remember back and I was the original Alfa man that kept nagging you over your last one. I had an Alfa red Giulietta just like that one. 122k miles before I sold it. Never let me down and stunning to drive!!
Had a couple of Venga's ...decent cars...not particularly engaging to drive as you would expect but the ones I had were very dependable...safe buy generally I would say.
If the 1.6 123 petrol in Venga anything like one in the Soul my Dad had, literally nothing will go wrong. Maybe get driver’s seat along with 2 doors. If Alfa not had cambelt maybe get Stu to do it unless you’re trading it on. Buy a generic own maintenance stamp and fill book in in case all the notes disappear. If pay your daughter for helping out she’ll acrue fair bit of cost of C1 in 6 months. Maybe use it in meantime James and sell a few things as it won’t like being stood.
I had the 2.0 litre Alfa 159 Sport which was a special UK main Dealership model (not for resale at launch). Waited 8 months for it to come up for sale - it had every factory extra pre-fitted including factory spoilers, lowered suspenson etc. A dream car.
God that Alfa is a lovely car 👌🏻it’s hard to believe I’ve sunk more money than the Alfa would have cost in to my classic Mini 🤦🏻♂️🤣 Sent you a msg a few years back James about getting an Alfa. GT…….i’ll get there one day 🤞🏻
I had the Hyundai equivalent of the Venga (ie IX20) which is the up market version but my one had the 1.4 petrol engine. It was a great little runabout which was very quiet and very frugal on petrol. I would buy another but like all this type of vehicle you need steps to clean the roof properly as they are quite tall.
Standard, these engines can last. I sold my TBI QV a few months back on 184,000 miles. Never seen another on that mileage. Ran superb. The ‘remap’ will blow the turbo and then the engine on that. I don’t care who set it up, the engine will exceed its design limits.
@@ChopsGarage drive it flat out for a while, wonder what those cylinder pressures are doing. Will also break the trans. I would get Alfa to flash it back to OEM; it will be hard to sell modified (my opinion).

Tut, tut James, you didn't read those service notes carefully, it said the cambelt and water pump were checked not that they were changed!! I think you've done that sort of thing before too (Mokka for e.g.)!
@@ChopsGarage ok apologies, me bad then!! Oh on another point though, you profess to be an Alfa nut but most Alfa nuts would know than N stands for Natural not NORMAL 🙂

@@ChopsGarage Wow, must almost be the best one out there! Surely it’s only going up in value? Might be worth while putting it up on blocks at the back of your garage all covered up for a few years? 😊
If you are buying a car with your head and want to keep a car running on a shoestring, buy a Kia Ceed or a Toyota Corolla. If you're buying with your heart, go right on ahead and get that Alfa Romeo and stop listening to people who bought that Ceed or Corolla. You know the risks and are prepared for that, they are more interested in taking what their sat-nav says is the quickest way home so they can sit on their backsides watching trash TV. You aren't too fussed when you get home because you have found a twisty road just off the motorway and you are going to enjoy the drive. Bit of a rant, but you get the idea 😉
Shame the Venga is a petrol manual, least desirable one really. Autos are ok, diesels economical, petrol manual isn't really anything in particular and heavy on fuel. Those pan roofs crack too, worth checking it carefully. All the earlier 3 models and later 4 models had the pan roof if memory serves. I had a 2012 3 auto and they were very cheap to buy back in 2019. Ride can be pretty hard going too on rougher roads.
I heard the rotten EU has now banned Alfa from placing the Reg.No plate offset to the side. All future ones need to be sat in the middle of the front section of the car...Some sort of crazy H&S rules
Great video bud, can't understand why trade the alfa, you know all about them and your enthusiasm would help a sale, why make your mate money? You keep trading him nice cars and making him 1000s,on his video he said 2.5k margin, I'd be spitting feathers, guy who sold it to you did so as your an enthusiast, then you punt it out to berrow?

That Alfa isn't an everyday car. It's more for the Alfa enthusiast......It would frighten me. Reliability isn't always the best with these Italian cars.... The Kia is a nice little shopping car or runabout for someone. Nice low-ish mileage.....
That is hardly wear on the seat of that Kia and it’s actually good wear as those creases tell you it’s real leather and it’s an attribute of having leather seats, in the same way you have a piece of fish that’s falling apart meaning it’s fresh
