- Released in 2017 the Cast Dial by Hanayama is one of the newer Hanayama Puzzles. Overall 4 parts need to be disassembled and reassembled. However, it's difficult to really understand how to do it.

What never ceases to amaze me is the engineering and how incredibly well done these are. Hanayama is awesome.
I'm so happy I figured this out on my own. I can watch the video now.
I solved it and then came to this vid to see what you did to solve it. There’s actually a deceiving move after the first initial move that lets you separate it where you turn the knob that isn’t locked by 180° which will push it even further, but it doesn’t do anything after that. So I eventually came across the move you made where instead you move it 120°. Then I turned the other knob since it wasn’t locked anymore, and from there out I basically had the same solution. Great video and definitely WAAAY harder than it looks.
clever little puzzle! the kind that you can quickly dis- and reassemble when showing it to someone and they'll still have no idea how to do it
Love the way you say "Mr. Puzzle" 😂
Me too. It makes a great appetizer for the videos :)
Mmmeeeeestaaa pussol
So Do I!! I thought I was the only one! Lol!! I look forward to him saying it JUST like that! It's hilarious to me. "Welcome to another episode of MISTER puzzle!".. Gotta love it!😁
Yall racist
My daughter and sun in law gave me this puzzle about 3 years ago. That's how I found you. Been watching ever since.🏆🏆🏆
Thanks!
Thank you. Even with the solution these puzzles are a good mental exercise.
This guy deserves at least 1 million subs, his videos are amazing 👍
I think 2 million is ok 👏👏👍👍👨🔬👨🏫🧞♂️🤦♂️🤹♀️
Now that's music to the ears. Thank you.
The other music you were playing is like trying to read " Gone With The Wind " with ZZ Top playing in the background. It just didn't match the situation.
I managed to solve this on my channel the other week! It took me about 40 minutes. It's pretty fiddly!
I just love your videos, and because of some of your videos I order 2 puzzles that I looking forward to receive. 👍
Yay, enjoy!
Literally got this puzzle this week. So I waited till I solved it to watch you video great video of a very fun puzzle
😢 this one I couldn’t figure out. Maybe it was a combination of my puzzle not being smooth enough and me not having enough patience. But now that I solved it, it seems pretty easy. As usual. Thank you for the video.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE Hanayama
Idk why, but I get goosebumps when I watch these
You are my favorite masonic youtuber
All of these are just combination locks with a cool twist. 👍
This puzzle break my finger nails
There should be a puzzle subscription service like loot crate. Some of the craftsmanship on the puzzles are so cool!
That’s a cool little puzzle
Nice mechanism, nice puzzle. 👌

The deveolpers of these puzzles must be genuis....thanks for another great solve Mr. Puzzle!!!🙏from Fl
Só eu de BR que amo esse canal?
My favorite spoiler break is back now!!!😂
I love this one. Up until you get that first bit of sliding part, I had no idea how this one worked
Hi, Mr Puzzle. Another good video.
Thanks Kevin! 😁
This is an awesome puzzle. I like it. I wondering how someone can develope such a puzzle.
I SIMPLY BUILT IT they simply build it.
thousandlegger his name fits perfectly with your comment
You made that look so simple.
Thanks to you I solved it, you’re the best!!!!!
Thank you Mr puzzle. I like your videos.
Welcome!
Awesome puzzle!!!
That click noise at 3:45 locks the puzzle and it takes pliers to turn the dial after that, no matter how many times I try. It's a shame, because it damages the puzzle.
That was pretty awesome.
Whats the most difficult puzzle video you have done? Great video
Damn you are pretty smart. Keep up with the good work.
Question can you do a q and a.
So we can get to know you a bit better.
Sure, good idea!
What food did he work on?
Cmon, you guys know what Magic meant.
I'd love for a Q&A as well!
Mr.Puzzle is in a secret location in Germany undoing & solving the worlds most difficult puzzles. His top secret work is causing a shift in the universe as the great puzzle makers can’t seem to out think him-he is too smart and clever.
There is a rumor that Oskar Puzzle has tried to find Mr. Puzzle and he couldn’t.
It’s a great mystery, hopefully someday Mr. Puzzle steps into the public eye. :-)
But until then Mr.Puzzle will just keep solving everything!
Nova Fawks - no, we don't know what "food work?" means.
It seems everyone loves this puzzle, but may I say I'm not impressed?
It seems to me like most of the steps to solve it are to be guessed completely randomly:
Why should you align the two rings at the beginning?
Why would you rotate the rings back and forth in that specific manner?
None of this can be deducted by logic or observation.
It is pure trial and error, and everything makes sense only once the puzzle is disassembled. But shouldn't a good puzzle be the other way around? AFTER you understand it, you THEN can solve it?
On top of this, the puzzle is a torture to handle.
Rings don't align easily in the first phase and don't rotate easily in the latest phases.
Pushing the two sides together or apart is not comfortable at all.
This is made worse by the fact that the puzzle is trial and error. You cannot take a breathe, sit back and think about a solution. You need to keep trying and trying and trying hoping some random click will happen.
I played with it a couple hours and my hands are begging for mercy.
That's just my two cents.
I don't usually do puzzles of this kind (I'm more into either pen and paper puzzles, or rubik-like puzzles) , so take my opinion as that of a tourist in this world.
100% agree with you! truly a pain in the ass.
I bought one of these, a very nice puzzle, but in order to get mine to function properly I had to liberally lubricate it. So be warned.
nice idea looks like westworld maze when you open it
good job
I had to inject silicone spray into the crack of the chrome dials. The thing was locked up tighter than a bull’s ass in fly season. They turn somewhat freely now. Now I can make a proper attempt.
Finally slopped it apart on accident. Cleaned out the silicone and lubed it up with Tetra gun grease. I might just take it to work and complete their job of deburing the chrome pieces.
The spinning parts on mine were very hard to turn sometimes. Had to use pliers in most cases.
A 3 out of 5 difficulty for you.
A 10 out of 5 difficulty for me . 🤪
Maybe it's just me, but this was confusing. Not your usual simplicity and flair. It was nice to get the original background music. Have a good weekend Mr. Puzzle.
A very perverse part of me wants to make a bike lock with a locking mechanism like this.
I like that one. Thank you.
At 03:25 you turned the dial on the "'Hanayama" side 90`. Not 180` as you said. Also, you could have said that it was the Hanayama side so that we did not have to stop the video and scrutinize the dark lettering.
Not a fan of the filter/color grading edit.. makes the video blurry and hard to focus. Great video and puzzle nonetheless
Actually the video has much more contrast after encoding. TH-cam completely desaturated the video and lowered the black tones. Maybe can't handle h265 properly.
I solved this in another way but this one was better🙃
What way you can tell my how????
4/6...not 5 Mister Puzzle!
Jonas fullibui
Out of 5 is his personal rating, he do know that it is 4 out of 6, but he rate it as 3 out of 5.
An Huỳnh 0:32 hear it..
An Huỳnh he say's 4/5 and Personal rating 3/5
Jonas fullibui
My bad, I heard it wrong. Sorry.
An Huỳnh haha it's ok!;) have a nice day;)
Mr. Puzzle vs The Excalibur Puzzle
Like if you want it!
Like! :)
What an elegant bit of design. Beautiful!
I found it very difficult to solve but I was just fidgetting. I solve it once but can't do this a second time :)
i’m confused by what you mean when you say “push them apart” pull or push apart?
Watch my video it's a different solution
I'd like to see you trying to figure out the solution. As in, doing the puzzle in front of the camera for the first time trying to solve it. It's better than watching you just showing the solution.
What is the orientation of the middle pieces to make the first move?
Im from Finland :DD
Some of your explanations are really good, but a few of them are pretty obscure -- this is one of the obscure ones. Too much fiddling at the beginning of the solution and constant changing of orientation of the puzzle makes it very difficult to follow which side of the puzzle you're on, as the "DIAL" is not very visible in teh video.
First, it's not clear which is the "thicker" side of the "triangular housing" (it's the side that says "Hanayama").
Then you say to align the one disk "pointing at the Hanayama sign", but is not correct, at least on my copy of the puzzle. If you hold the puzzle with the "Dial" sign facing up, and at the top of the triangle, the dial on that side needs to point at the vertex to the LEFT of the "Dial" sign.
Then you say "with the dial on the other (Hanayama) side pointing in the same direction."
Again, this is not correct, at least on my copy of the puzzle. The dial on the Hanayama side should not be parallel to the dial on the "Dial" side, or the puzzle will not slide. In fact, with the "Hanayama" side facing up, the Hanayama side dial on mine needs to point /partly/ to the vertex to the RIGHT of the Hanayama sign.
But not \directly\ at the vertex -- it needs to be offset a few degrees towards the Hanayama sign. My version, at least, is very fussy about this orientation; if the dials are not positioned precisely, the housing will NOT slide apart, even by a milimeter.
The main point being that the two dials are
ot\ pointing in the same direction; they are pointing in different directions.
I can't say for certain that this is true for \all\ copies of this puzzle. It may be that each one is different, and your solution may well be the correct one for your copy of the puzzle. It was not the correct solution for MY copy of the puzzle, however. Perhaps you should try your solution on a couple of different copies of the puzzle?
As far as I can tell, this is one of the fussiest of Hanayama's puzzles, as regards the exact positioning of parts before you can even begin to disassemble. Your explanation would benefit from additional detail, and perhaps a slower pace when it comes to changing the orientation of the puzzle and flipping it over.
That said, I like your videos, and most of you Hanayama solutions are spot on, and easy to follow. Just not this one. :)
That looks at least a 4/5
They must have different ratings overseas...i bought this last week and it's rated 5 out of 6.
Dial "A" for awesome
Press F to pay respects.
You didn't mention that when you go to re-assemble it make sure you have the correct pieces together... The thinner silver dial needs to be in the thinner housing which is the one that says "Dial" on it. Of course you will notice that immediately when you go to slide them together....
yay its mr puzzle
Found it has 2 DIFFERENT starting points that can be used... once one of either are used... it still requires the ssme moves to the end.
I can't get farther than the step at 3:43. I twist the disc but there is no click
Mr.Puzzle you should try excalibur puzzle :)
my uncle who lives in north Carolina works for a company that makes these puzzles so everytime i go up there he'd give me one for free and if i solved it i get $100 i don't really want the money they're just fun to do
'Sir face' -- Love that, I'm gonna use that :)
What is your difficulty dating of this puzzle?
Given that it is inanimate, I'd say it is a pretty high difficulty to date.
His difficulty rating, however, is 3 out of 5.
I will not fix it 😂
He told us in the beginning. 4/6
What's happened to the close-up of the puzzle spoiler break? 😭😭
Aaa mr puzzle ich stecke seit jahren an einem gordischen knoten fest und ich bekomme ihn noch nicht einmal auseinander (was der einfache teil sein soll) was soll ich nur tun? 😅
0:15 Missä päin on tori varattu?? ;-)
Perkele torilla tavataan :D
Pretty cool, lvl 1 on hard difficulty for kids. It is just like revomaze, all you need is to imagine that what is happening inside the puzzle and make a map in your mind to get out off from that maze. 😉
What's up with colors in this video?
Conversion by TH-cam messed it up
What happened with color correction? Its feels like veil on my eyes.
TH-cam... 😔
Level 4? It's a level 5 down here. So far just finding this the hardest one to start.
Mr.puzzle i have been a fan since 2017 and you have helped me through alot of puzzles but i have found a puzzle that i can not solve it is a stirling fox travel wooden puzzle it is called mad cow. If you could help me i would really appreciate it thank you
too hard...
i would have used a screwdriver in the first 5 minutes 😡
Good for you!!!!
I would just bust that sucker apart with a club hammer.
i bet you still couldn't get it apart
@@zaneece I don't think he could do it with a screwdriver, but with a club hammer on an anvil I think I could smash it and smash it till eventually the metal parts bend and fatigue. It would then come apart especially if I could smash it on the edge in a vice.
Nice
this and the cake puzzle are my faves! So challenging until you figure it out my friends and I spent a few hours at the bar getting it apart and back together
Who won giveaway you havemt told us
Also whats your twitter
This weekend.
Thanks you are thr real hero
