    You could make a coroplast base for the coop like people do for guinea pig C&C cages, it would keep shavings from getting everywhere and it would also make for easy cleaning

    I love chickens too but they would probably be happier outside eating bugs out of grass. They have many needs that can’t be met inside. But it is very entertaining to watch and I would want to pet them haha

      I thought I mentioned it in the video but I’m sure I mentioned in some other comments that they were still a bit young here and it was still very cold out when I recorded this but about a week or two after I did start taking them out side they just weren’t permanently outside, and these 3 in particular I did end up rehoming to a backyard farm. Bog, the yellow one is an Easter egger she lays mint green eggs

    People are so weird. Keeping a chicken indoors is just as cruel as keeping a dog indoors. We all have our opinions on how to raise pets and children. Her set up
    Looks good to me. I’m watching because I’m getting a chick soon. I’m sharing a coop at a community garden. I’m very nervous about keeping a creature that I’m responsible for outside especially during extreme weather. I need a back up plan to sooth my anxiety. Lol

      Actually as long as they have simulation (I take mine to parks with a big cage and let them scratch around) and are cared for properly they thrive indoors as well as outdoors

      I mean chickens like bugs dirt sunlight and fresh air they have to stay inside till about 6 to 8 weeks of age but who the hell keep their dog outside for too long I mean like to excise and to go potty yeah but keeping pets outside at all times isn't a pet at all ...chickens are not pets they are a resource and or livestock....

      @@Whal3n no problem, I live in a large apt with access to a yard to allow to chickens to roam during the weekends. Iam researching to see if there is a breed of chickens that doesn't get to large, isnt known for being very noisy, and is a decent egg layer. Iam wanting these first 2 chickens for pets/egg production. My kids have never experienced any kind of farming and they will be to close to these birds for than to ever be raised as meat chickens. Once I move into a house with a yard and actually have the room I will have a group of egg layers and a group of meat chickens. I still even dont know if this is entirely possible LOL

      Ron Ron it is not that bad it never smelled and the noise only got bad with one of my gals (City Slicker) and it only got bad once she started laying eggs. John Brady we ended up putting some pet safe turf on the floor on top of the foam but it was hard to clean so we just kept it in the kitchen area not inside the coop just for them to walk around like a floor mat

      Chickens wont eat something they cant eat, and even if they do accedentally swallow something bad, it will be filtered out by its crop, and then move to the stomach once it is digestible.

    Hey, where is their water dish and food dish,I didn’t see either set in their cage? Just saw a cereal box kneenex box and paper plate upside down they acted pretty hungry when u threw them just a handful of meal worms, I mean food and water should always be in a dish for them. They need to have that all the time. Chickens outside in nature eat all day... just trying to help. :)

    • @Whal3n
      @Whal3n  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BriTt the food and water is on a hanging wood block in the top portion of their coop actually :). I’m not incompetent I know that a living creature needs food and water which is why they have access to it at all times, just not in the bottom area so they have more space to run around and the food and water stay clean. All animals act hungry when you have treats. The boxes were for “roosting” or practice roosting on because they were too small to know how to use the actual roost at the time they were only a month or so old in this, and the upside down plate had treats on it before hand, and they do go out in nature I take them out to parks whenever I can : )
