Majority of the water in brahmaputra comes from indian side mountains not tibbet,just because a river originate in one region does not mean all it's water comes from there, a big river is formed when many small rivers merge together, there is no need for worry of water shortage we can reduce Bangladesh supply but we need to make sure that we have enough dams to prevent artificial flooding in case china tries to do that.

The six dam on Teesta, one in Ganges at Farakka and several others on rivers in Tripura and Assam has had Bangladesh suffering. You talked about China creating artificial draught in Vietnam and Laos though its water control.
And India jas been doing it since the last threee decades through Gajaldoba barrage, intentionally lowering the water during summer. And in rainy season, it opens all the floodgates at the same time to cause flodd in Rangpur division
The same thing India is doing with Bangladesh. So if India can build dam and control the flow of water then why can't China?

4) This reservoir can also help India during dry season.

I am a research scholar in hydrology,And m from Assam doing phd in a tributary of brahmaputra.Only information I would like to convey is we don't have to worry.Because majority of the discharge of brahmaputra is from Arunachal pradesh.And remaining from other adjoining states of northeast.Very small contribution is from china.So don't worry.

However, the project has faced opposition from several NGOs and Social Activists citing environmental concerns and local community displacement. SUMP issue is one of the major issues in State right now. Last year multiple protest and dharna were conducted on the issue. Even last month on Dec. 2024 the effected people 3000 approx. held a protest rally against SUMP and State govt. CRPFs are being deployed. But no national media covered it.
