@@Ashley-gi1vt Yes the interviews used to be much tougher. The interviewers used to ask about internals. lets say if we submit a query to sql server or oracle how does this gets executed. How does it know that the data is in which file. How does index gets stored. how does query traverse in case of composite indexes and so on.

He said Import Mode to Connect Power Bi to SQL Server. Does it possible in 150 Gb Datasize ? If Data size is such small then why client take such services he can can prepare report in 6 Hour only.

    • @KSRDatavizon
      @KSRDatavizon  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Importing Large Datasets into Power BI: Considerations and Best Practices
Importing 150GB of data into Power BI from SQL Server using Import mode is certainly possible, but it's important to consider the following factors:
Data Volume and Complexity: The size and complexity of the data will significantly impact the import time. Larger datasets with complex relationships and calculations can take longer to process.
Hardware Specifications: The performance of your computer or server will influence the import speed. Sufficient memory, processing power, and storage are essential for handling large datasets.
Network Latency: If the SQL Server database is located on a remote server, network latency can affect the import time. A faster network connection can improve performance.
Power BI Service Limitations: While Power BI Service can handle large datasets, there are limits to the size of individual datasets and the overall storage capacity available.
Query Performance: Once the data is imported, the performance of queries and visualizations will depend on factors like data model design, indexing, and hardware resources.
Why Clients Might Choose Power BI Services:
Even if a client can prepare a report in 6 hours using direct queries against SQL Server, there are several compelling reasons to consider Power BI Services:
Centralized Data Management: Power BI offers a centralized platform for managing and sharing data, making it easier to collaborate and ensure data consistency.
Enhanced Visualization Capabilities: Power BI provides a rich set of visualization tools and templates that can help create more engaging and informative reports.
Collaboration and Sharing: Power BI makes it easy to share reports and dashboards with colleagues and stakeholders, facilitating better decision-making.
Data Governance and Security: Power BI offers features for data governance, security, and compliance, ensuring that sensitive data is protected.
Scalability: Power BI can scale to handle large datasets and growing user demands.
Integration with Other Microsoft Tools: Power BI integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft products like Excel, Teams, and Azure, enhancing its value.
Best Practices for Importing Large Datasets:
Optimize Data Model: Design an efficient data model that minimizes query complexity and improves performance.
Consider Incremental Updates: If the data changes frequently, consider using incremental updates to import only the new or modified data, reducing the overall import time.
Leverage Power BI Premium: If you need to handle extremely large datasets or require advanced features, Power BI Premium can provide the necessary resources.
Optimize Network Connectivity: Ensure a stable and high-speed network connection between your computer and the SQL Server database.
Monitor Import Progress: Use Power BI's monitoring tools to track the import progress and identify any potential bottlenecks.
By carefully considering these factors and following best practices, you can effectively import large datasets into Power BI from SQL Server and leverage the platform's benefits for data analysis and reporting.
