We've been going to Gravelrama for 32 years & that is still one of the coolest moments that has ever happened there!.. The 50th Anniversary is coming up in 2020, it would be so awesome if the Bigfoot family made a return!
This truck has bin my favorite. I was ten when I first watched him roll out at the Metrodome. Here in mpls . Thank you Bigfoot for all the good really big big show . Your my favorite monster truck !!!!
It's funny, in the 90's that was huge, I was a fan. Now a days they land jumps, from the height of that hill, from Bigfoot to grave digger, i've seen many huge high jumps landed. Impressive how the tech has moved, in the last near 30 years. Oh my God I'm getting old
@@SUPRAMIKE18 Did El Toro Loco stop using the front engine design? I remember seeing him and making note of the front engine. I don't keep up with the details like I use to.
CaptainXJ Yeah you feel like you are going a 100 mph and dont wanna hit the brakes because they will lock up. Then at the bottom. You worry the brakes will not work! And if you crawl down that is more nerve racking because it seems to take forever to get down and you are afraid you will tumble.
😄😄😄 You got that right! It's like nobody ever thinks about a dog going down some stairs, probably the same feeling. Uphill is all floorboard, then coming down is ride it out and hope you don't break too much traction.
BIGFOOT #8 & #9 are my favorite trucks out of them all. That generation Ford body is the best looking body when sitting on some 66" tires. Actually, that generation Ford body looks just as good sitting on BIGFOOT #8 on 48" tires. BIGFOOT #10 & #11 are hot on their tail though.
Good old #9, shame that the trucks not apart of the Bigfoot fleet. Bigfoot 9 and 8 were 2 of the best trucks during beginning of the stage 3 designs of monster trucks. With some changes to #9 from #8 the truck was impressive as are all of the Bigfoot trucks are.
@@TheIcpfan23 They cut #9 loose sadly. It was going to cost a fortune to get it released from customs, so they just let Brazil have it. Some footage of it exists here on youtube, but its pretty sickening, you can tell the trucks been greatly neglected in its time over there.
This particular truck was still running an old school style clutch, he wasn't geared down enough on the first try. He dropped it in bulldog and rammed the pedal through the floorboard; even these (and modern) monster truck engines just can't roll those massive wheels very well on uphill runs, plus those tires each weighed a few hundred pounds. The newer BKT tires are basically just high performance balloon tires, much lighter. Oh, the custom built transfer cases on most of these early 90's monster trucks ran incredibly slow, while the transmission was going off the charts, so even in its lowest gear there was a lot of struggle to climb hills. Lower gearing in the differentials helped, and moving the brakes inboard to the front of the diffs or at the front driveline base helped slow them back down, as normal hub brakes weren't much of an option, especially with planetary units on the end of each axle. Sorry so long, big 4x4 trucks are my thing.
@@beltfed4624 Those old Terra tires were more than just a few hundred pounds, they were about 1000lbs each (un shaved) they could trim them down to 600lbs or so if they shaved them though.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bigfoot #9 was putting out around 1500-1700hp at this point. The old leaf sprung stage 2 Monster trucks were around 700 - 1000hp and the Stage 1 early monster trucks were more so around 500 - 600hp.
Nathan McDonald a lot of stage2 trucks were around 1500 to 2000 . Usa1, ecology eliminator, grave digger2, carolina crusher2 , king kong3, bigfoot4,6,7. (just 2 name a few with high HP)
@@orangecrate5895 For sure, well said. If you see footage taken from on the hill its insane how steep it is of just loose gravel, Its a wonder that Bigfoot #1 and USA-1 were able to do it considering the sheer mass they had to drag up that hill.

Nah, 1989 USA-1 probably could have made the climb, but it would have had to work for it. Bigfoot #9 here was far superior to the 1989 USA-1 in just about every single way.

Dayum. That truck was Poppin wheelies in the 90s. Beast!
Bigfoot #9 makes it look so easy! I remember how bigfoot #1 struggled to make it on top in the VHS "bigfoot in action".
There will never be another Bigfoot. King of the monster trucks.
SOOOO much fluorescent clothing . 1990 was cool!
I was there when Bob chandler drove big foot #1 over the hill. The first monster truck to ever do so . That was awesome way back in the day.
Yep. back when monster trucks were actually trucks.

Is that Bigfoot #7? I remember the one that was at race rock down in Orlando Florida looking similar to this one except for the tires
ls1killa says in title its bigfoot #9
That truck was wicked! Even with mufflers.
All the mullets in the crowd is what really makes this video great!
the longer the mullet the greater traction on the incline

#9 actually had a clutch and muffler at the time this video was taken. So that is what is giving it a unique sound.
