The disrespect on Villa is hilarious. The host clearly hasn’t done any research on Villa. Villa play extremely attractive football, beat City and Arsenal back to back weeks and the favourites for top 4. Emery would never leave Villa to go to United who are in turmoil on and off the pitch. The stigma around villa and other clubs outside of the ‘sky 6’ needs to change.
Even just a glance at the table would have shown him that Villa score more (and concede fewer) than Brighton and Spurs (the 2 teams credited with playing exciting football).
This is nothing new it’s a mixture of lazy “journalism” and clear bias. You have to be from the NW of England or London to get a piece of respect in football the Midlands never get a look in especially villa.
Just take a look at the all time top division table
Villa don't get respect because they aren't a powerhouse commercially outside of London and Manchester...villa are a big football club and if they get champs league this season and continue to compete, you can't dismiss them... Villa are on now on par with spurs..and I'm a villa fan.
It’s because Villa are from Birmingham and there is a clear bias against Birmingham in the media for some reason (I have a few ideas why but won’t go into it). If this was West Ham, Leeds, Everton, Newcastle I guarantee they’d be getting more coverage. Tbh the bias extends to the whole of the Midlands.
Dan speaks a lot of very levelled and common sense discussions
Love to see Bardell on TS representing us Villa fans 💙💜
One of the first things Emery ever said as our new manager is he is here for the long term and specifically mentioned a 10 year focus
Emery has the keys to Villa. The organization is completely behind him.
There's no way he would leave that for the chaos at United.
The club he owns is partnered villa as well he’s with Villa for the long run
@@ChronicTheHempHog-mf3nh 👍
Emery would be absolutely mental to leave Villa for Man Utd.
Very well spoken by Dan
He didn’t fail at arsenal they failed him emery is here to stay for the long term at villa I’m sick of people trying to sell emery to the “big6”
They backed him and he got 72 mil flop Pepe. Prioritized Europa over getting top 4 then bottled that anyway. He failed on every level at Arsenal and left a mess that Arteta had to clean up.
@@theblackswordsman9951as an arsenal fan it’s a mix. He never wanted Pepe sanlehi did emery wanted zaha. He did prioritize Europa even though we were in position for fourth and we bottled that and Europa. But all in all arsenal was in a toxic state when he got it and he couldn’t change the culture so he was let go. He’s still a good manager though and I think he’ll get villa into top 4 the next few seasons
@@Lordofbags Didn't say he wasn't a good manager but to say that he didn't fail at Arsenal is just wrong.
@@theblackswordsman9951"left a mess that Arteta had to clean up." The Arteta that Arsenal fans wanted gone before last season? That Arteta!? 🤔 😂
@@theblackswordsman9951 he did fail. But I’d say arsenal was a solid much of a a mess at the time that whoever was coming after arsene would’ve failed.
Villa are richer than Man Utd. Emery is just fine with us!
But we're not richer, let's be real now. But it's not always about money.
They make more than us so wether we’re richer or not we can’t spend as much
Yeah Villa aren't richer. Owners might be richer but it'll be years and years before Villa match United's annual revenue
Richer in spirit, which means way more.
The owners are richer yes, but United are richer as a club due to FFP
The majority of Unai's accolades have come with teams that have villa in its name ... Unai will continue this trend 💜💙
As a Villa fan I’d be happy with a 5th place finish and winning the Europa Conference.
We need and are long over due a trophy.
Have some faith lad! CL next season UTV
I'd be happy with 5th but I'd still be very disappointed if we don't capitalise on a CL place given our current position in the league.
Have not fact checked anything, but Villa are probably the richest club still left in it... Ajax is a tricky tie, but very winnable based on how much in turmoil the Amsterdam club are... their defence makes Sheff United look organized. Of the other 14 clubs still left in, Villa could give a quite easily win a game against any of them. UTV
Noooooooo
Emery would be foolish to leave for Manutd - that job is a nightmare. It's a revolving door of managers with loads of average players on huge contracts.
😂😂 emery will go to man u as much as haaland would go to Coventry city .
I wouldn’t mind 5th as a Villa fan. It’s still progress. I just want us to beat 6th which was as high as Martin O’Neil got us.
If 5th gets UCL than it’s an equally great accomplishment
Man Utd should go for Wayne Rooney. He's club legend after all.
And Liverpool should go for Steven Gerrard when Klopp leaves in the Summer.
And Chelsea should go for Frank Lampard (again!) after Poch is sacked.
It alway fascinates me how how ill educated people are about Aston Villa. This guy is catering to Talksports ‘top six’ coverage. Thanks Dan for speaking about Villa with context. No one will leave Aston Villa for toxic United or Chelsea
Very engaging and good speaker Dan is
Cant see him leaving Villa, the "bigger" clubs all have sporting directors and execs with a lot of power. As Dan says, at Villa Emery gets everything how he wants it.
Agreed mate, that's maybe the only reason he took the job in the first place.
He's come into the interview and said I need Monchi in, I want these coaches, I want this and that (haven't we now bought his boyhood club or something?). And fair play to the top brass but they've given him everything.
The positive changes he's brought into the club are unreal. His "no excuses" culture has been the driving force. We've had terrible, key injuries, can't buy a foul let alone a free kick, and have been generally unjustly treated by a hell of a lot of refereeing and VAR decisions (as have most), but Emery doesn't let us wallow. It's driving us forward and it's the change that we really needed
@@herrzyklonWell he didn't go for Monchi he did say Monchi if that Barca dude didn't come which he didn't and we're partnered with the club that the Emery's are connected to not just because Unai owns them but because of generations of playing days including his grandfather the late Antonio Emery who played for them in the first ever La Liga match in 1929. Partnered is different to buying though
The level of disrespect shown for Aston Villa and Unai Emery across all media outlets is shocking!
Fair play to Dan for putting these lazy journalists in their place with facts not devil's advocate facts!!
UTV
Unai is going nowhere. Hes in the villa for manager for sure, but also he has partnered with villa on a business level too. Real union, so his stake is more than most managers. Hes here for a while for sure! UTV
There is no way that Emery will leave Villa for any of the clubs mentioned as he's onto a good thing there. All of the management jobs for the likes of Liverpool, United, Munich etc are high risk appointments for numerous reasons so why would he damage his reputation walking out on Villa especially as these managerial roles will come his way again in the future if he carries on improving Villa
Thing is with Arsenal, they wanted a manager. Wanted Emery to be just like Wenger before him and influence all corners of the club beyond the actual football side.
Emery is an elite, world class coach. There’s a big difference. Let him focus on the football, don’t distract him with the business and you’ll get the best out of him. Bringing in people Emery can trust to do the business side right (like Monchi) has allowed him to focus on the players and making villa “exceed everyone’s expectations” as the host has put it
Man United are not the biggest club in the world
hahahaha rattled
@@jackhinkin6073 It's a fact
Not even the biggest club in England 😂😂😂
Real Madrid are the biggest common knowledge
Real madrid is but MU comes second i guess
I want to see Andy Jacobs face if Villa finish 4th. 🙂
About time they heard this,Dan.Unai and Villa been disrespected.Great manager at a Great club.utv.
Douglas Luiz is head & shoulders above Bruno Guimarães, just like Dan said there just look at the number you can’t argue 🤷🏻♂️
Look at Wenger at Arsenal, Ferguson at Man U they never got poached by any bigger clubs so why should Emery get his head turned. I know if I'd been shafted by Arsenal, come back with Villa and had done the job he has in a short amount of time and had a lot of people backing me on a journey I'd stay exactly where I was because the satisfaction would be ten fold.
great spokesman for the villa DB
A non-United story? Incredible. I thought this had become Man United FC TV.
Victim Mentality just like Rashford (Pointing your finger to your head)
They can't stand not to talk about them lol
The reason why Emery is a good match for Villa, is the same reason why he would NOT be a good match for a Liverpool etc. - there is a level of expectation at those 'bigger' clubs which means that you have to go in as one of the accepted top managers anywhere, or have some clear history with the club so that the fans allow a period for the manager to develop. Arsenal hounded their best manager out of the club and were never going to give anyone any time unless they instantly won the league and the CL probably.
I think Dan is correct in his gut feeling about Emery's contentment at Villa and I'd be surprised if he were to move on anytime soon but, football is football!!!
9:02 - Villa are not a "Traditional" Top 6 club? ... Since when? What is your definition of the word "traditional?" ... For an example of "traditional" ... Aston Villa regularly finished higher than Spurs in the Premier League for most of the first half of its existence.
It wasn't until around 2010, when Spurs started regularly finishing above Aston Villa each season, which non-accidentally coincided with Villa's massive mismanagement and eventual downfall towards relegation a few seasons later.
Since Emery joined, things have started to look a lot more like they "traditionally" did for Villa for most of the pre-relegation Premier League era. Villa finished above Spurs last season and look to hopefully do so again this season.
Mings long term injury was absolutely a blessing in disguise... Pau Torres in the left centre back position has been a massive upgrade.
I would love to see a Torres + Mings partnership at some point though. Maybe next season? Whatever way you cut it, having Mings available would offer a lot more depth at the back.
@@temporaryuseraccount0012 no way, sorry don't rate Mings at all.. the most solid back line has been Konsa-Carlos-Torres-Digne/Moreno
It’s very easy for people to say “oh he will leave Villa for a top club” Liverpool? Why would he want to follow a club legend with the possibility of having that hanging over him. He has already done that at arsenal. Man united ? The expectation there with the players they have is another situation you wouldn’t want to walk into.
It's a backhanded way of stating that Villa are not a big club which is a load of Horlicks.
Great representation Dan UTV!
I'd happily take 5th and winning The Conference League. That would be an incredible achievement. Winning the Cup would get us into Europa which is the next step up.
Uk media is a joke. Utd 11 pts off 4th, in the hunt for CL. Villa 8pts off 1st, not even mentioned in the title race. We're being done dirty.
We're a Midlands club we ain't flashy for the media it's been like this for ages it's not right but it happens
The host's valuation of Douglas Luiz's quality as a player, is that he was "linked to a move to Arsenal last summer?" (which he wasn't really, it was fake news). But, tell us you only care about the "Sky 6" without telling us. And he was only so-called "linked" to Arsenal by Arsenal fans spreading untrue rumours. Villa and Luiz were never exploring selling him to another club. Quite the opposite. Hence, why he signed the new contract to extend his stay at Villa.
If you wanted to prove yourself as a manager what project would be better than an old club like villa humble enough to follow you and your work but big enough to grow into a giant . 1
5th would still be an amazing season and possibly a CL place.
Villa will sell Luiz for £80M+ and buy another 3
Some of the best managers around have gone to Utd and “failed” to live up to its name and history since SAF (Jose even had issues because he couldn’t choose transfer targets - something Emery NEEDS). Utd is a poisoned chalice - the same will happen to Liverpool when klopp leaves and if Pep leaves City. Both those clubs have built up an identity and legacy that will be hard to follow. It’s the same reason Emery had issues at Arsenal after Wenger. Villa is set up perfect for him and once the club’s revenues increase (CL football and winning EUCL) will go a long way helping in this regard we will be up there challenging every season.
As long as we’re competing each year, why would you leave when you are given everything at your disposal. If we did sell couple key players and fell off the boil…. Perhaps his head could be swayed. He wants CL football (Euro football) every season and competing for trophies….. keep doing that, Emery is here to stay - at least until summer 2025 as a bare minimum.
Emery had a pretty decent record at Arsenal. Like Moyes at Manchester United, he was following a long time and very successful manager in Wenger.
Player power degree was more the cause for him being sacked.
As someone who hasn't done any homework, this interview was complete rubbish. In fact puerile.
Well done to Dan Bardell for swatting him as though he was an annoying fly
UTV.
5th would be ideal. And if they win the EC they get a EL spot, right?
Not sure what champions league will do for Villa. It’s the manager attracting players at the moment.
Revenue to buy the next level.
Emery won't leave Villa for a long time. He's got more freedom at Villa than he'd have at any other club. His people in every position, he makes all the decisions, our owners have bought into his own club. Will Manure give him that? Liverpool? Bayern?
Football always changes its never static the champions of tomorrow are unknown to us today that what makes it interesting
I'm so scared of us (Ajax) playing Villa. We will get humiliated so bad. Hope Emery shows us some mercy
Bruno Guimerez would have him on toast 😅
Are you on drugs? Bruno is nowhere near Doug at the moment. Doug has 9 goals and 5 assists. Bruno 3 and 4.
Spurs are doing everything in their power to not finish top 4.
If Ange knew how to close games, this Spurs side would be comfortable (and even MAYBE in the title race)
But anyway that's Spurs innit
7:38 go on Dan.....HEAR HEAR 👏👏👏👏 MAN UTD get sent packing lmao 💜💙 UTV
villa + emery = fotball heaven
Fact is, we’re never gonna be taken seriously by ‘Sky 6’ blinkered presenters like this until we achieve Champions League and/or start winning things. The notion that Emery would jump at the chance of a possible Arsenal situation again is laughable. Classic simplistic presumptions without doing any analysis of what Emery, his staff and the owners are ambitiously building at Villa.
Villa have always been a traditional top six . I bet your pardon UTV
Host is completely ridiculous and out of his depth. Asks a moronic question, quickly realises it and claims he's just 'playing devil's advocate'. Unlistenable stuff.
wE'rE mAn UnItEd
Rubbish. If Liverpool commes calling, no manager is going to reject, especially Klopp will be leaving with a strong cohesive team.
Lol nah
Klopp has a lot of power, even winning the battle with the very successful sporting director Michael Edwards over who has final say in signings. Liverpool would need to give Emery that same guarantee.
Who ever takes the Liverpool job (won’t be Emery) is mad, seen it with arsenal when wenger left and Utd with Fergie you can’t fill thier shoes and you are fighting a losing battle facts
Haha deluded 😂
Unai has complete control over everything at villa. If he goes to a club like liverpool he will lose that control which is a big reason for how successful he is. He has everything he needs to take villa back to the top of European football.
Top four finish?.........nope, I'd say maybe 6
Why? We're top 4 now, whose catching us?
@@stephenbell8349 Tottenham, Man United?....11 games to go and some top sides to play yet.
Don't get me wrong, I hope your right but not out of the woods yet.
@restofthejunk01 no way United are getting 12 more points than us in 11 games. Spurs are in the mix though
I'm hearing champions league music themes
UTV
What a joke of a radio station.
Villa will finish 4th dont you worry.
Got bored of your comment UTV
5th and conference league win would be amazing and 5th might be Champs league aswell
We will comfortably finish top 4
Man utd aren't even the biggest club in Manchester never mind the world
Taking a dent when they draw on saturday
Dan is very biased
He'll absolutely walk today if United or Liverpool came calling.
If you take a minute or two to actually do some research, you’ll find out he wouldn’t
Do you think he's stupid? Those types of jobs are everything that history has taught him to avoid.
@@joebees21 Money talks and Emery has never in his managerial career showed he's loyal.
Look at the amount of clubs he's coached lmao
@@ziudra91 He's taken massive jobs like that before and look where it's gotten him.
To throw away what he has now for the potential at another type of club that he has a poor previous track record with would be insane.
Doubt it. He love his job at Villa where he can build without pressure. He reminds me of Clough when he was at Forest.
If Bayern or Liverpool offered him the job hes gone
😂😂 he really isn’t do your research and see how much he is involved in villa and what Villa have gave him, literally got the reigns of the whole club
Mate, vsports our owners company have literally just invested into emerys family owned Spanish club. He ain’t going anywhere. He’s very invested in our club
Bayern are focused on Zidane. Liverpool is focused on Alonso
Joker
I only think he'd leave for a job in Spain.
Let's be honest, Xabi Alonso is going to Liverpool. There is no way Unai is going to a delightful crisis at Man Yoo and why would he go to Bayern? League titles are expected and not respected there. After 11 consecutive titles they look like losing the Bundesliga this season and look at the turmoil going on. Villa are a perfect fit both for Emery and the club. If Villa make the Champions League and / or win the Europa Conference he will want to build on that. If neither happens he'll want to make it so next season. Up the Villa ❤
