When I bought this on DVD a long time ago, this scene was in there because I remember it very well. If it got cut it was from syndication in later years. I don't know, but I don't ever remember it missing from any release or broadcast.
No we All have been given Gods EARTH!! And the People don't belong to the land either,...we Belong to Christ !! No-one really owns anything ,..it is given to us by the Lord!
I watched the move back in Iran over 40 years ago. I clearly remember this episode. It is so strange to see the move now that I live in USA. America excreted such influence then with Western Movies, Waltons, the Six Million dollars man and so,... Long gone that time. Now is the time for Kim Kardashian, simply cultural degradation.
I remember this scene when I saw the pilot years ago..(I distinctly remember her handing the Indians the bread)..so if this could not have been deleted when it originally aired
The Indians weren't going to kill the family. That's Hollywood storytelling. They would have killed the Dog if it went after them however. Caroline would have also known about the natives, and is more than capable of using a gun to protect herself and the girls if she needed to. She's not some Snowflake...
@JoMarieM They should have left it out. Pa and ma and the kids were there squatting on land they had no rights to. There is no excuse for them claiming and coming where they did. If a family just showed up in your backyard and built a house I dare say you wouldn't be nice about it. That whole thing was disgusting. You know what Hollywood never shows is how Indian homes where invaded by the MILLIONS due to "manifest destiny" and "divine right" . PC has nothing to do with it.
I think it shows that a child needs to obey even when they don't understand it all. Explaining can only go so far. Kids can go why and because for an hour if you let them. I know. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 2. Obedience is partly trust. Trusting that your parent knows what is best and knows what's best. This scene is not deleted at least not on the video.
I don't understand why this is considered a deleted scene. I own the VHS version of the pilot episode and this entire scene was on it - and this was back in the 90s when I purchased it! So exactly when did someone decide that this scene was somehow not PC enough to be left in? People seem to forget that in those days, settlers had excellent reason to be afraid of Indians, because there WERE Indians that DID actually break into settlers' cabins, steal things and terrify pioneer families.
Its strange, I have only ever seen one version of the pilot on a channel called SDR Archives 3 (because I didn't know there was a pilot) and as is stated in THIS video title the scene was deleted... but people here are saying it wasn't in versions they viewed. I am NOT saying anybody is wrong either way but I am confused. I am autistic and struggle to figure out whats going on when it comes to opposing but related information... sorry. Was it in the original pilot on tv and removed later for a newer audience? Where in the actual pilot does this scene sit? I am just confused over here. Sorry again
One of the few times Charles comes off as mean .The reasoning does't seem right either Jack is a watch dog should n't he be in the house protecting the family if Charles has seen Indains in the area and has to leave the family.
Right. Charles reacted uncharacteristically...well...odd! In the first place, he hears indians came in his house, and his only reaction was to lash out at Laura for almost disobeying an order? And not that Charles knew, but that indian was brushing his wife's hair..a sign that he MAY have been planning something more with her. And Mary, as frightened as she was, her only thought was to rat out Laura? Very odd scene, really. I don't always love Caroline, with her rather stiff and rigid ways with the girls, but she was 100% right to yell at Charles here.
Duh...The Natives would not have hurt Caroline or the girls. You have been watching too many Hollywood Movies. Charles was right to be mad. On the Prairie, disobeying an "order" could mean the difference between life and death. The Dog was tied up because he would have gone after the natives, and there is NO doubt they would have killed HIM. He was tied up because Caroline would have known they were in Indian Territory, and was more that capable of using a gun to protect herself and her family if she had to, and tying up the Dog, saved HIS life.
The indians wanted to try a colonial chick he he he!...no seriusly, it must have been very scary to be a woman at that time, left alone sometimes with your children because your man needed to bring food
I think it shows that a child needs to obey even when they don't understand it all. Explaining can only go so far. Kids can go why and because for an hour if you let them. I know. Ma was so brave.

Little House on the prairie is my favorite program the girls remind me of me and my sister
wait so he's angry about her attempting to let the dog go, when his family was almost killed?

What do you think of this scene between Charles and
Laura?
It's on my tape too.
The Indians in this episode are in the first place curious. And since Caroline can't communicate with them, she's even more scared.
They're hungry because their land has been taken and their game scared away
I watched it it's good so I now it's not deleted scenes
Yeah I own the pilot and this scene is totally in it!
