As the crow flies, for a number of years I lived only a couple of miles from the Little House set. But there's a massive set of hills separating the ranch where the outdoor set was located and the city of Simi Valley, so in order to reach it you had to drive about 5 miles or more.
I live in The city of Torrance. So from this city to that city of Simi Valley. It took us about 42 minutes Give or take. Is it was the last tour of the Century. So we arrived at a park in Simi Valley and from there. To the ranch, it took us about 4 miles or so. On the tour bus. There was a Hallmark Hall of Fame series in the 90s called Sarah, Plain and Tall. It starred Glenn Close and Christopher Walken. It was very similar to Little House on the Prairie.

The house was impossibly small. The town consisted of the church, main store and only a few houses. I feel that real life would be too difficult under these circumstances. I also feel, as much as I admire Michael Landon, that he placed a tremendous importance on religion. He didn't tolerate people who didn't place their trust in God. He must have been a religious man but his views were way too strong. Highway to Heaven, well that's something else entirely. You cannot force such views, and I found his insistence uncomfortable.
