The most notorious I can come up with on the top of my head (before watching this video) are: The Masseria hit in Coney Island, the Joe Galo hit, the Castellano/Billoti (sparks steakhouse) hit and the Carmine Galante hit.
Sparks steakhouse is still there and Umberto clams house even if they changed the name to not be associated to the hit.. the others are not there anymore
Speaking of Carmine Galente -- I remember that when King Faisal of Saudi Arabia was assassinated, certain media reported that Carmine Galente attended his funeral. Was that true?
I’m from Liverpool and went to Michael’s event here. I stayed in the hotel the event was in. We just so happened to be checking in the same time as Michael, got to speak and get a picture with him. Then got to meet him again at the event and got a signed photo with him. He even remembered me and commented on how we stayed in the same hotel. He was such a nice humble man. Best two days ever getting to meet him so many times, he even went and trained in my friends gym so he’s serious about his excercise 🤣. Thanks again for a great two days Michael 😎
My Great Grandpa immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's . I was raised in a small town that was predominantly Italians, mostly from Northern Italy around Modena. This video explains a lot. Even being only 1/8 Italian it seems a lot of the attitude about food comes through.
This video was by far the creepiest and funniest (though in a sick way, like getting shot in the back for laughing too hard in a restaurant) video that you have ever made Mr. Francese. I listened to it at 75% speed and laughed all of the way through!
I was born and raised in Southern California, but I always buy the Rao’s sauces that You can buy at most local grocery store, one of the best store-bought sauce that you can purchase for any Italian meal in my opinion! Especially if you’re in a rush it’s a great go to sauce. Had many compliments on my meals using that brand.
Umbertos was great. I’d get the scungili fra diavolo with pepper biscotti. I’ve been to Raos a couple of times too. Back when the old lady used to bring cheesecake. Pellegrino died of throat cancer. Too many cigars. Bo Dietl always there
I've eaten at the original Umberto's on Mulberry and Hester St, both before and after the Joey Gallo hit. Also, Like Michael says, The Limehouse in Chinatown on the corner of Mott and Bayard, was a great place for Italian seafood. I loved to go there for Calamari, shrimp and Scungilli.
I had a customer from Los Angelos who visited our plant in PA annually, always planned around the semi-finals of the US Open in the Meadowlands. Every year they wanted to make sure we visited Sparks Steak House in Manhattan, NYC. If I recall correctly, that's where Paul Castellano & an associated was killed. Anyway, never had a bad meal when we went there.
What kind of light bulb is that on the left hand side of the frame? I love how it flickers like a candle, and would love to get some of these for the home.
Thank you Michael for the stories and the way you tell them. I'm glad you chose a different life path than the one you once had. I love watching mob movies but wouldn't want to live that life. Thanks again
Ah Liverpool, AKA "the Pool" and my home town. It's been many years since I last visited. Perhaps later this year... So glad you enjoyed your UK tour. Sunday roasts are the best :)
I remember when I went to umbertos once, I want to own a restaurant in the future so I asked the manager how bad the Joey gallo hit affected the business, he looked at me like I just pissed in my wine glass I’ll never forget his face
For my 30th birthday this past February, I wanted to wow everyone with a nice restaurant, so I took them to Sparks Steakhouse. Great food, and the steak there is ridiculous in size and taste.
The most famous ones are Carmine Galante and Joey Gallo. That infamous pic of Galante’s face clenching a cigar with a bullet riddled face just give you the chills.
Michael, great video as always There's a steak restaurant here in Phoenix that opened in 1950 and has been frequented by many mob guys and entertainers and it's called Durants on Central Ave. It was originally owned by Jack Durant, who passed away many years ago but it's still operating. Before opening the restaurant he worked for Bugsy Siegel in Vegas. Congrats on your UK trip and have a safe journey home.
I went to see Michael last Monday in Bradford seen as you mentioned the uk tour it was a really good night I met him what a lovely guy he made me feel at ease straight away.
Hey Michael I always love your videos! Did u know of a guy named Patsi Parrello? He was a Capo in the Genovese family. He owns Pasquale Rigolettos on Arthur Ave in the Bronx.
I’m from Vancouver on the west coast of Canada. Our best Italian restaurant is by far Il Giardino. It’s ran by Umberto Menghi, an award winning chef originally from Italy. If you’re ever in town I highly recommend it Michael! All the best
My favourite Italian dining experience was at Visiwa Restaurant in Watamu, North Coast of Kenya. There's a big settler community in Watamu and Malindi beach in Kenya, many of whom were former Mafioso/Ndrangheta fleeing Mussolini's campaign in the 1920's to wipe out Italian organized crime, led by the _prefetto_ Cesare Mori (known as "the Iron Prefect"). If interested, there's a book by Federico Varese called _"Mafia on the Move: How Organized Crime Conquers New Territories"_ . I think it'd make a great series of videos to talk about the spread of Italian O.C past its original strongholds of Naples and Sicily and how government campaigns, regimes/regulations, border changes and immigration policies have fuelled such spread. Just a fun suggestion! Love your work as always!
I'm glad that Franzese didn't leave out mama Lunas in this vid. I have been to mama lunas and worked there so I love to hear it. Pizza is fire btw

I remember when I went to umbertos once, I want to own a restaurant in the future so I asked the manager how bad the Joey gallo hit affected the business, he looked at me like I just pissed in my wine glass I’ll never forget his face
Good to see you enjoy the country most of my family came from.
Loved listening to you soooo pleased you enjoying England 🇬🇧 love to you and your family 💙
When our team all retired after 25 years. Being together. Still seeing each other often brings back memories.
Thank you for the amazing content Mr. Franzese. I have you and your family in my prayers. Have a blessed day sir.
I'm glad you enjoyed the UK. Hope to catch you next time.
I feel like my stomach gets whacked every time I go to Olive Garden
Lolol
They should wack the chef
Olive Garden is NOT Italian food. Not even in the same universe. Jesus.
@@bobm2878 This grandson of an Italian immigrant eat at Olive Garden once. I was less than pleased.👎
Love listening to you, and looking at you 😂. Wher can I find your wine? Stay blessed!,
For my 30th birthday this past February, I wanted to wow everyone with a nice restaurant, so I took them to Sparks Steakhouse. Great food, and the steak there is ridiculous in size and taste.
One forgot to mention was Joe and Mary's restaurant on Knickerbocker Avenue, Brooklyn where Bonano family boss Carmine Galante met his demise.
The most famous ones are Carmine Galante and Joey Gallo. That infamous pic of Galante’s face clenching a cigar with a bullet riddled face just give you the chills.
I heard that the cigar was put INTO his mouth by the photographer though maybe not but it's hard to believe a cigar wouldn't tumble out really easy.
@@lamper2 I doubt that. Police would not have let anyone tamper with the crime scene.
@@TheStrategos392 were the police there during the shooting?
Mary’s kitchen
Gutted to miss you in Liverpool, I was in Holland at the time... Please come back!!
Michael, great video as always
There's a steak restaurant here in Phoenix that opened in 1950 and has been frequented by many mob guys and entertainers and it's called Durants on Central Ave.

How many vaccines do you need to be able to eat inside?
