In regards to the molestation charges against him, he was never criminally charged and the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic at Yale-New Haven Hospital, found Allen innocent. Those were interesting questions. The mere fact that they're different from the standard ones doesn't make them inferior. Celebrities get bored by being asked the same questions over and over again. I'm sure that was fun for him.
The most revealing answer is when he says he’d take the two years of life. He loves life, despite his belief in its utter meaningless and all of its difficulties. That’s what makes him who he is, that’s his heart.
However in his recently published book he wrote that when it comes to bringing children into the world, he shares Sophokles perspective. It's better to never have been born.

A creep? A great man. A brilliant man who has created beautiful masterpieces. One thing I learned from Woody and his films was to learn how to think instead of what to think. All of you accusing him are parrots regurgitating hatred implanted by fear, witch hunters in need of a victim to burn at the stake. Stop wasting your time. +Egdis Ruiz Sure all of that and a a bit of a creep. Look, people are by no means one dimensional and to think your hero is in all ways to be admired is to deny them their humanity.
+Egdis Ruiz Well Roman Polanski directed masterpieces like Chinatown and The Pianist and it's a known fact that he had sex with a 13 year old. I don't know whether Woody did what he's been accused of, there are too many ambiguities in that case I think for anyone to ever know for sure, but him being artistically brilliant doesn't really have any bearing on it one way or the other.
Woody Allen is such a legend. He's always said that he's wanted to make a great film, one that would be a masterpiece, when in reality he's done that several times.
The truly perfect ones are Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Hannah & Her Sisters, and Crimes & Misdemeanors. Then, just a little way below those, there are Zelig, Sleeper, Broadway Danny Rose, Love & Death, Deconstructing Harry and Sweet & Lowdown. All genuinely great films that everyone should see.

"I stole, cheated and *_made fire_* " Woody later made Wonder Wheel which has a kid character in it who is constantly making fire and burning tons of things XD
I find the interviewer implying that Woody has yet to make a great film at least a negligent volley. Woody Allen has made many good films and a number of great films. I would certainly "Annie Hall", "Sleeper", "Manhattan" (although he isn't a fan) and "Midnight In Paris" as great films (just to name a few).
+Mico Yea, I mean Crimes and Misdemeanors, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Hannah And Her Sisters, Stardust Memories etc etc are all perfect as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather watch any of those than The Bicycle Thief... (not that The Bicycle Thief is bad...)
Fucking masterpiece what? Midnight in Paris is the photograph of a director that never put his nose out of the usa but to film something. It's embarassing really.
Yeah, he's made many great films over the years. His one fatal flaw is that he seems to favor quantity over quality. He might have a more consistent filmography if he were to take more time on each project as opposed to shoving them out every year like an assembly line worker.
greenrate We're not talking about "Porky's" here. "Some Like It Hot" is a bit more sophisticated than that. What sets the plot in motion is Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis witnessing the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, seriously depicted onscreen. That was a pretty bold move for a Hollywood comedy in 1959.
Bobbnoxious That movie took way too long to set up. It just dragged in the beginning. And, really, if it didn't have Monroe in it, no one would even remember it. It wouldn't have been successful, and would have been promptly forgotten.
Oh come on, when someone tells you a joke, no matter how long it takes, no matter how much he drags or struggles to get the elements of the joke right, if the punchline is funny and you laugh your ass off, it redeems the whole thing. Same goes with "Some Like it Hot", Marilyn Monroe isn't the only asset, it's all in this last minute, the whole build-up leading to the unforgettable "Well, nobody's perfect" is what turns a great movie into a masterpiece. If it wasn't for the last minute, "The Sixth Sense" wouldn't have been as impactful, well same goes with "Some Like it Hot". The ending is just as perfect as comedic ending can get.
Woody considers Bob Hope a great comic actor..Thinks Buster Keaton is a great filmmaker, but reckons Chaplin is funnier (I personally happen to agree). Doesn't rate Stan Laurel("scratching his head and crying, never made me smile.'').
Yeah, judging by Allen's films, I really wasn't expecting him to dislike such a heartfelt classic as Some Like It Hot. I certainly understand why he has to defend not liking it. I would give him a fight on that, I didn't know it was possible to dislike that movie.
Why would he need the "great movie"? "Hannah and her sisters", "Annie Hall", "Husbands and wives", "Radio days", "Crimes and Misdemeanors" are masterpieces

It's not my place to say anything on the private, and now public, life of Woody Allen since theres seems to be two sides of his family saying he's horrible, and the other side saying he never did anything. All I know is he's a comedic genius, whether he's a horrible person is not for me to say since i don't know him personally and have no right to accuse him of anything but what i know.
@@ColombianThunder ok it isn't really speculation or rumours tho. He married his adopted daughter who he had before she was even a teenager, and they are still together today. I get the separating the art from the person but come on
I can't help it. I Love Woody Allen!
He made Annie Hall
One of if not his best movie
FANTASTIC - especially the hilariously unexpected last answer.
OMG I love him so much!!!!
A national treasure. Absolutely!
There’s no chance Sidney Bechet would pick up the check.
doesnt matter what kind of person he is, just love his films and his brilliant mind
Why do people keep bringing up accusations??????? Let it be. It didn't happen.
Phillip Beckman What didn't happened ?
It did. He should be rotting in jail.
@@ghostofmisao. Go fuck yourself
@@ghostofmisao. Then point out all the victims who've come forward in the last three years to back up Dylan Farrow's claims. Explain why Dylan won't file a civil suit against him in Connecticut, which she's legally able to do until she's almost 50, if she's so certain of being fractured by him when all she does is use her celebrity to bully anyone who has even a small issue with a detail in her story or how Ronan is able to use his connections as a journalist to dumb down the interview with Soon-yi. Face it, you're an easily manipulated sap who's been used by opportunists to further a petty score.
The font of the titles is classic woody . Love this man
It's very humanizing to see woody not care for movies as much as many would think.
I am so glad this film bio has been made, can't wait to see it - thank you.
'Malteds' are malted milkshakes
He mentioned corned beef sandwiches in another interview, but he said he's eaten healthy for so long that he wouldn't enjoy a big Reuben anymore.
Wished he made movies like his older ones, love them
this guy isn't who I thought he would be.
Very interesting interview. I wonder when Woody Allen's next film will be released.
"I stole, cheated and *_made fire_* "
Woody later made Wonder Wheel which has a kid character in it who is constantly making fire and burning tons of things XD
one of the best Woody interviews ever done. I like to revisit it ;)
love woody
I know he’s richly talented and funny, but he also seems like such a nice man.
He really is a kind and very decent human being,
I find the interviewer implying that Woody has yet to make a great film at least a negligent volley. Woody Allen has made many good films and a number of great films. I would certainly "Annie Hall", "Sleeper", "Manhattan" (although he isn't a fan) and "Midnight In Paris" as great films (just to name a few).
ApeQuake True. But Woody, himself, doesn't recognize that, and that is what the interviewer is refering to.
Midnight in Paris is a fucking Master Piece!!!!!!!
Wow, I'd like to know why he doesnt like "Some like it hot"...
greenrate We're not talking about "Porky's" here.
We LOVE you, Woody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent questions! And original.
Why would he need the "great movie"? "Hannah and her sisters", "Annie Hall", "Husbands and wives", "Radio days", "Crimes and Misdemeanors" are masterpieces
Woody Allen is simply a great man, treat for the mind.
Totally overrated wimp dude
