How they make money is by investing their money. A record contract is a loan to pay ALL of your expenses. The record company don't pay for anything. If you flopp, they WILL drop you. A lot of the music videos that you see, that stuff is rented. Most artist still live at home with mommy.
I went to high school with her. She played Dorthy in the school rendition of the Wizard of Oz. Her raw voice was amazing I can still remember hearing her sing. We always knew she would make it.
So you went to Westchester? Did you cheer with her? I went to Dorsey, and I remember Karen from from the cheer and drill team competitions and parades. We were also part of the dance activities at the Ebony Showcase Theater, and the L. A. Cultural Center. She's extremely talented.
She probably was suffering from postpartum depression. Back then, it wasn’t widely diagnosed if at all especially in women of color. Women are expected to bounce back and perform and be the same person as soon as you have a baby and that’s extremely hard to do. I love her voice and all her songs. Thanks for the video. When the public sees you dancing and performing in a music video, the public will expect the same LIVE.. Also, Karen used many of the dancers from Janet/Paula's music videos and those dancers could not be split up three ways on promotional tours.

For anyone that has been married, there are too many variables to judge. Marriages end everyday. We don't know either of them and even if we did, its rare people allow you into their marriage. I didn't tell many people what was happening in mine while married nor when I was going through a divorce.

I had heard rumors back in the day, that Terry no longer wanted her to work and he told her that he would take care of everything because he didn't want his wife out there performing and traveling oh, that he wanted his wife to stay home and take care of family. I notice right after they got married I didn't hear anything from her no more. The music just stopped and at that time she was famous and working her way to the top, so I'm kind of believing the rumor, because even if she just wanted to take a break after having the baby oh, she could get right back into shape and keep going oh, that didn't stop Ciara from performing. I believe that Terry was controlling and when she got tired he didn't want her no more. Now remember, she always wanted to be a singer and right now she is still beautiful and young looking, she can get right back to it no questions asked. She just has to hold her ground. I know Karyn White was trying to be a full-time mom to her child around the time Make Him Do Right (1994) came out, but you don't ignore record companies' requests to tour. She was on some my way or the highway stuff when she made that album. That album was a departure from her first two albums, music critics either panned the album or thought it was mediocre, and she didn't want to tour. All those ingredients add up or added up (for Karyn White) to so-so record sales, a long disappearance from the music biz, and more. And that sucks because that woman can sang!!!!!

I love Karyn White is legendary.. I remember back in the day we used to think we could sing I'm not your superwoman singing our little hearts out. Never realise how much that song resonate with you until you become a grown full fledge woman in your forties.

The way she walks and turns to flirt with the boys is all choreographed...
In her video for 'Romantic', she is dancing, in fact she does even more dancing in this video.. Because of all the fast editing, you can't fully see the full choreography, this is done to hide the fact that the dancing and choreography is sub par.

Yes but i didn't like it. For me it was missing the natural heartfelt tone that Karyn had behind it without trying. There's a time and place for Fantasia always but for me that just wasn't it. Her version was not only rehearsed but came off sounding that way

Yeah I was raising an eyebrow when I didn't see Karyn on stage with Babyface. Because of that, it didn't feel nostalgia with Fantasia performing the song.
I had heard rumors back in the day, that Terry no longer wanted her to work and he told her that he would take care of everything because he didn't want his wife out there performing and traveling oh, that he wanted his wife to stay home and take care of family. I notice right after they got married I didn't hear anything from her no more. The music just stopped and at that time she was famous and working her way to the top, so I'm kind of believing the rumor, because even if she just wanted to take a break after having the baby oh, she could get right back into shape and keep going oh, that didn't stop Ciara from performing. I believe that Terry was controlling and when she got tired he didn't want her no more. Now remember, she always wanted to be a singer and right now she is still beautiful and young looking, she can get right back to it no questions asked. She just has to hold her ground. I still believe it was Terry after all said and done

I was just talking to my mother about all the great R&B singers everyone is so stuck on Beyonce it's ridiculous but they had a lot of beautiful women that have powerful voices that really didn't get heard

I know Karyn White was trying to be a full-time mom to her child around the time Make Him Do Right (1994) came out, but you don't ignore record companies' requests to tour. She was on some my way or the highway stuff when she made that album. That album was a departure from her first two albums, music critics either panned the album or thought it was mediocre, and she didn't want to tour. All those ingredients add up or added up (for Karyn White) to so-so record sales, a long disappearance from the music biz, and more. And that sucks because that woman can sang!!!!!
I loved me some Karyn White in the 80z as kid/teen, and still play her absolutely timeless music to this day! Her music videos playing on B.E.T. on "Video Soul" with Donnie Simpson was iconic! My first concert ever was Karyn White, Levert, and E.U. as a teen.
I often wonder what happened to people who disappear after a few albums. Karyn's voice is so beautiful, I used to love hearing her songs being played! Everyone goes through something, but I am happy that she is doing well!
