Just reading this comment thread here is a bit of comfort and vindication for me as I've had friends with actual CS and IT degrees try to help me sort out this very problem and the conclusion they all come to is that it's almost conspiratorial how the developers clearly don't consider the composer's interests at all when designing their apps because the way things are sorted into different files, all with bafflingly similar sounding directory and folder names, is so counterintuitive and frustratingly confusing that it's amazing anyone can actually ever get it to work. You'd think that if so many people continue to describe the same problem, day after day, that maybe, gee whiz, it's not our fault and that it's the developers who need to get over whatever petty hang ups they may have with eachother and agree upon a single, unified directory template. This is absurd. But there's no real incentive for them to do this, you see - they don't really care and they're laughing at us all the way to the bank.
I've got artist 10.5, it installed all of the vst instruments in one place. I know exactly where all of them are to within one binary point yet cubase will not install or search or find halion or groove agent. Everything else? Fine. All the sounds are there, the instruments, pictures and other crap is all there, but it won't load in groove agent or halion. Everything is in one folder, all done by steinberg itself, in the same place, and I know by heart the path to get to exactly where it is but cubase just says its missing, and then refuses to search for it when I click start search.
My cubase recognizes the trumpet plugin i installed, I can create a track with it, its name "trumpet" is there and everything but when I click on the little keyboard button to play it, it opens a window saying "cannot find any instruments" and of course nothing happens if i try and play it. Can you help please?
I have Cubase 8 Artist and I have set it to look in the correct folder, I have BIAS FX and a few other plug ins and even though it connected the the correct file it says "0 new VST effect and 0 new VST Instruments found" when I ask it to re-scan the folder. But I've told it exactly where to look. Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?
Have you checked the blacklist to see if Cubase is rejecting the plugin? I can't remember if Cubase 8 lets you use 32 and 64 bit plugins or it's just strictly 64 bit (like the newer versions)
@@PoundSound I figured it out, I was stupid and installed then wrong version of Cubase so I was trying to run 64 bit plugins on the 32 bit Cubase. I installed 64 bit Cubase now so I've sorted it haha. Thanks for the reply though.
How do you tell Kontakt or other sampler in the DAW where to look for its samples when Kontakt is inside Cubase for example (e.g. not a standalone Kontakt) ?
You use native access to point kontakt to where your libraries are stored. Every sampler will have a different way to do this, some do it from within the sampler.
Might want to contact FXpansion about that. My guess is your version of Cubase is pretty dated so the compatibility with newer 3rd products might not be as great.
Hi there i found your video very helpful But.. my Cubase is scanning everything on my c drive taking hours to load, I've changed the folder it should be looking at But... it still doing the same please help. Regards Michael
One thing you can try (once Cubase is open) is open the Media Bay by pressing F5. In the file browser, on the left, simply uncheck the locations you do not want Cubase to it to scan. One done close Cubase and reopen it.
Hi! I have Cubase LE 10.5. I've just download "60 guitars 01" sound using Steinberg download Assistant, and when it finished and i want to open my Cubase, it said that "some content could not be loaded. Either, licenses ar e missing.............." and all it says about licenses... well i've just installed my cubase about a week ago, why i can't use it (the sound) and why theres a license problem? thank you, and sorry for my bad english
Couple things to try : first one is to make sure the e license control center software (for your dongle) is up to date. If you're on Windows right click on it and run as administrator. The other thing to try is downloading the Steinberg Library manager. You can use this to move installed libraries around or use it to find your installed libraries so when you run Cubase it knows where the new content is.
Sorry, to be off topic. I sure could use some help with playing midi with my controller. For some reason now all my midi notes being recorded as I play are at the same volume, velocity stuck at 75 no matter how soft or hard I pressed the keys. Never had this problem before. I tried other keyboards that worked normally before, however, they all present the same problem. I tried resetting the preferences. I tried repairing Cubase. I even uninstalled Cubase 9.5 and reinstalled it to no avail. I checked for any hardware changes, all was normal. I reinstalled the current Steinberg interface, ur22 drivers. I tried Greg Hondo suggestion, that did not work. I am completely stumped Is there something you can think of that is causing this? how do I restore back to how hard I press the midi keyboard to affect the incoming velocity according to how hard or soft I play, instead of a continuous velocity stuck at 75?. Thank you for sharing your Cubase knowledge.
Hmm im pretty sure theres a setting in one of the menus which fixes.the velocity on all incoming data. I'll have a check and let you know. The trouble with reinstalling stuff is that your computer might not delete files from the registry, so when you reinstall something it still remembers the old settings. You have to manually delete the specific files using regedit. Let me try and find the setting in cubase, if i cant find it ill do a video for you on regediting.
Thank You so much, I really appreciate your content and it is very helpful and concise. I have been a Cubase user since Cubase VST and never had this problem before.
Hi I’m not quite familiar with IT therefore a question: is it possible just simply move my „other” VSTs into the VSTPlugins or Common Files? Thank’s in advance.
Yes you can, just make sure you point Cubase to the folder path. Check out my latest video on how to point Cubase to folder paths. th-cam.com/video/D_UMppNAx0A/w-d-xo.html
Go to the plugin manager > VST effects tab > on the far right of the window, make sure the plugins are showing the collections folder. You might of deleted them or moved them out of this window. You can reset it by clicking the Down arrow and selecting "Default" on the collections view. This will list everything for the inserts and also let you build your own custom plugin lists for the inserts.
I got installed my wave tunes plugins in x86 system. My Steinberg folder is the 32 bits path too. In the 64 path I only have waveshells. So? What should I do? My cubase can´t find the damn plugins. Lol
I do not even know what bit the Amped roots is,I think there is 2 versions, maybe i should download it again,I had it located as an external plug in but it has disappeared.
You know if it has to be in Program Files folder? Cause I'm thinking it might be best for me to have some on my D drive cause my sys. drive is not very big and some vsti have samples inbeded in the DLL and are pretty big. It would look like this: D:/Vstplugins. OK. i can't spell inbeded. See i did it again. :) Thanks for the video.
I have all programs on D:\ and let Windows do its thing on C:\ since I've done so since forever. It ain't broke so I won't fix it! :D So I have among all the other porgrams on D:\ D:\Steinberg\Cubase D:\Steinberg\VSTplugins\yourPluginName It works, so ... :)
My Program detect the VST's, but they just don't produce any sound, i don't know why, the instruments just don't work, i've seached so much for a solution but still they don't do anything, any help?
All DAWs tend to look in the same default locations. Just need to make sure you install into them and not use the plugin installers "default" location as these vary.
Correct. Just so everyone knows, this video is a generalisation video. Because there's loads of people using different versions of Cubase on different OS's.
You can use a suprisingly large number of 32 bit VST plugins without issues via jBridge, which is a bridging technology that for some reason works better than Steinberg's own. Google jBridge.
It’s a complete shit show to be honest and it’s been causing me grief for years. I bought Cubase 11 at a good price and I’m seriously regretting it because I can’t run any of my favourite 32bit VST instruments on it, not even through j-bridge. Steinberg suck big time

I have also same problem
I have that same problem with all plugins on Cubase 5😭
Same problem. I was using Cubase 10 artist, and after 10.5 update Cubase can't find Halion and Groove Agent (and they are all installed)
Absolute gold this ❤

I can open my VST effect but its not working. Can you help me with this problem?
Can Cubase 5 recognize vst3 plugins. If no is there any app to bridge vst3 plugins to be used just like jbridge
Unfortunately, there isn’t any software for this. Cubase 5 does not have VST3 support built into the software, so it won’t work at all.
