I play it several hours daily and have recently found a few new friends in the game. We are all very much enjoying the game and the grind. Also, I find it calimng to play with others and not against others. But that's just me. I love the game. And there's always plenty of people in it too.
For you that might work lol some of us love to play everyday.
@@bellotriggerfish Sure, not saying that's impossible. But the content in this game is slow, and the combat itself is bad in comparison to similar games (hitboxes, balancing, etc). I enjoy it as much as it frustrates me honestly

Now THIS is the guide that i need! I just started playing dauntless this week and it is very refreshing for Monster Hunter player like me, i think dauntless fits my casual playstyle more than MH, and this guide gets me even more excited!!
I AM personally a huge fan of swords and strikers, played with the repeaters too but haven't played much with them, they are good though. Love the unique effect of the sahvyt weapons it is really the best as you said. Lately, I've tried the axe and am liking it much more actually becausf it making interrupts easy most times even on light attacks I get one
its nice to see my builds getting mentioned in this video even if i dont watch build videos that much coz i love making my own builds with what i have the most fun with balanced with DPS and survivability. Im a sword main and have always been coz i have so much fun with it.
one build i love to use is the cauterizer with embermane sword
having 250% part damage coupled with +5 pulse is awesome!
+6 sharpened
+6 cunning
+5 pulse (for every 6th hit)
and so on... :D

As an old hunter stuck in the old ways this really helps update my builds. I've been running meta from the pre reforge days
That is not possible...the mtea before reforge were half life builds which are not possible now

I've recently discovered catalyst, and I've been missing out
Been experimenting with different weapons after this video came out. I'm mostly an axe main, but I've dipped my toes into sword and war pike. War pike is pretty fun and much faster, though it doesn't have as much "umph" as I was expecting. As for sword, the combo system really kinda rattles my brain a bit even if I know what combos I should be doing. I'm just so used to axe with discipline for the interrupts.
I like the Axe and the War Pike best.They really need to add more abilities and rebalance some of the existing ones.
Other than the last part that might be a little confusing to new players, this is definitely the most informative video I have seen in a while. Well done!
That being said i hope the meta changes and this becomes outdated soon.
Could you go over what perks each weapon wants? It's a bit hard for new players like me to figure out why the meta builds on dauntless builder is done in that certain way.

I am currently trying to get all weapons to reforge 10 for the buffs. Right now I am on hammers and then next is war pike then I'm done. I am a chainblades main and in my journey so far, I can drastically see the change in the time it took me to kill with chainblades and repeaters, the repeaters are insane in terms of damage and the sword I find to be very very fun with avenging overdrive and discipline, I am a parry god. It's a shame because I love chainblades but they've become a bit weak
Same i hate that chainblades are pretty much never the best choice now

Most of this I already knew, but there were a couple new things I learned. I do however disagree with the Umbral Legendary bond of stalker's 30% bonus dmg after multiple hits VS the Furie 50% dmg boost under 20% HP.
I have done a lot of testing as a repeater main between the 2 and the 50% damage boost is very easy to maintain with revenant, in fact I would say more consistent then trying to build up the 30% from rift stalker when a behemoth is moving around, or attacking and you need to chase or evade. Basically in every instance that 50% damage is better in ideal situations and very easy to get in less than ideal situations (seeing as revenant's cooldown is so short you will always be under 20% HP.) The only argument You can kind of make is survivability, which you shouldn't need as a repeater with 600 from Skarn Lantern +3 Fortress giving you 900 Shields. All of this I say with repeaters, I don't know about other weapons between these 2.
Problem with revenant and shrowd is if you just spam revenant when your life starts going up to maintain shrowd UE your losing the damage from revenant. Basically rendering it useless. If your letting your life Regen fully to efficiently use revenant your no longer efficiently using shrowd UE. They are basically just not efficient with each other. No matter how you use them together. SURE they're usable together. But they don't mesh very well.
@@bdotnert1677 This was realised almost exactly when Revenant first came out with many tests done by many people, so I don't know what this guy is talking about.
the thing is, rev+shrowd bond was actually used on reza trials before, but even then rift wasn't that much worse in time and they used rev properly, meaning waiting for the life to go back up before using it again, rev itself deals so much dmg + each tenticle hitting giving you more dmg via orbs, that spamming rev for shrowd ue is the worst thing you can do
@@bdotnert1677 this isn't a problem though. Last Rezakiri trial the fastest run was literally just using Revenant normally with Shrowd UE slapped in. You don't need full Shrowd UE uptime on Rezakiri because Rezakiri is a behemoth with a significant amount of downtime where you can't do any meaningful damage to it

1:16 "Chainblades are still unfortunately in a state of trading extra DPS for Damage." What does that even mean? I thought DPS was Damage per Second, so how can you trade Damage for Damage...?
I'm surprised someone hasn't told me this sooner I meant to say trading dps for better dodging, as the specials and the dodge have better s than any of the other weapons
@@TheMrTrails Oh ok, that makes sense! And I can see how that mistake could easily happen since "damage" and "dodging" both start with a D, have a soft G sound, and are both 2 syllables. Thank you for replying and clarifying! It really helps a noob like me!

Your recommended perk list was 9. Assuming you will be using Catalyst for tonics what other 5 would you "most recommend" between Adrenaline, Endurance (only w/ Adrenaline), Berserker, Overpower, Cunning, Galvanized, Pulse, & Predator?
It's sort of like a "what shouldn't you use" type list:
Sword - Not Pulse
Repeaters - Not Adrenaline
Hammer - Not Adrenaline most of the time
Axe - Not Berserker
Pike, Chain Blades, Strikers: Everything's usually fine

Aegis was only relevant for the 2 weeks there wasn’t a shield cap on it, otherwise is not close to being meta
Fair, thought you meant meta, as in easy to use (shield stack with galvanized n frostwulf bond) with almost no skill issues instead of what most people run.
Ok I might get slamed for this but I don't see the problem with cascade, it procs well at +6 and the damage buff is nice while the other orbs are useful when needed. I know that its is way, way far from being like catalyst but I find that the attack speed gained from Molten isn't really as impactful as I thought it was. Also I kinda what to know some of yalls opinion on Zeal as well.
I think it’s because of the inconsistency compared to molten, and to be good you need to make it +6 which is not ideal because +6 insight is off meta
I grinded the silver sword quest until silver sword 5. I had to stop because it felt like such a waste of time.

Is molten cell still most meta nowadays? Or does Reuse offer a better dps boost overall?
Reuse is better, but to an extent. Molten can still be better if you're out fighting things like 10 or 11 levels above you, seeing as the part breaks are going to come much later in the fight. But for the most part it will be the go-to non-catalyst utility cell

Would anyone might know the armor or weapon does some kind of tentacle coming out of the ground dmg. It's around 3-5 of them and does insane dmg it seems. I can't figure it out so if anyone knows please let me know. It was like purple black color
It's the revenant omnicell. You can unlock the recipe for it on the slayer's path, then craft it at the middleman

It’s interesting that hammer has received the least amount of change (only change was nerfing molten edict twice)as far as rework goes and it still remains a top tier weapon. Maybe there could be a video on why hammer remains on top with so little change.

axe is just to have fun. the only way axe is useful is if you go full damage&crit which means it's bad because 95% of players will get one shot on the first behemoth.
How good is zeal?
so bad it's not even worth mentioning
Zeal (WITH AETHERDRIVE) is really good if you are NOT really good. Lanterns are a damage source that scales with time, so the longer you take to kill a Behemoth then the more valuable Lanterns are.
a player with a full DPS meta glass cannon build playing flawlessly with 0 skill issue will still have their lantern accounting for about 1/4th of their overall DPS when using Aetherdrive without Zeal.
If you aren't constantly perfect dodging and hitting every interrupt and not using a meta DPS build, then Aetherdrive + Zeal is probably going to do more damage than your actual weapon itself.

@@yiyueji All the lanterns are so close in DPS that I would heavily suggest Skarn. I think the extra sustain and consistency more than makes up for the tiny DPS loss.

Tbh I feel forced to play solo because the scaling is not explained and it's also stupid. So no matter what u do I can have great gear etc if enemy scales to 5 but the other 4 players have lackluster setups or even decent 1's it's a 5 minute of longer fight. Seriously time consuming and we're not being paid lol
If you're queueing into random lobbies, it can be harder than playing solo 😝

In hunting grounds, most behemoths will have between 36,000 to 65,000 hp. They gain 1.45x the solo hp number per additional player added

I dislike your Pangar lantern explanation. Even without Overpower and against Behemoths that are difficult to stagger and have no interrupt, Pangar lantern is still King. Should've just said it allows for larger damage openings in general, giving you the opportunity to attack more in between Behemoth attacks and finish combos you would usually never be able to.

I believe reason why he dislikes chainblades is because they used to be top tier weapons but due to an unneeded rework, the attack combo that made the weapon good was removed and warpike does a better job at wounding so chainblades are kind of meh

I’m relatively new, so do people not run a full set of armour for the best resistance to a behemoth? Do they rly mix and match armour sets?
Yes, perk summary (right side of loadout screen), is far more important than making sure you have good elemental resistance, which doesn't even give you extra defense on the behemoth's physical attacks. And once you reach the end game, if the perk summary is good enough and you've developed enough skill, you can often kill the behemoth before it can even attack.
BRING BACK THE OLD CHAIN BLADES COMBOS! 🤬
No, chain blades do more damage, actually engage the player, and have improved specials than previously. There's no point to add them back as it would simply be unfun.
