Wow. Thank You. I've kept this to myself for 40yrs. I fuckin wore this album out. I got to see them open for Rainbow/Scorpions in 81'. Couldn't fuckin wait for this tune. It paid off in spades. Rhett Forrester, R. I. P. Almost caught the harmonica.
I was between 14 and 15 when I first listened to RIOT. I am 56 today and I still appreciate this band which would surely have had a great career without the disappearance of Rhett Forrester who was one of the most talented hard rock singer of his generation.
Don't forget Guy Speranza. He had a great voice for Riot. It's unfortunate that the music business frustrated him to the point of quitting for good. We lost a very talented person.
I grew up in the 80s and had many hard rock albums including this one and I still have it. A great album. I wish I could re-live the time I acquired it.
When you have the quintessential hard rock singer and the quintessential hard rock guitarist in the same band, then this is what it sounds like. Absolutely kick-ass. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
If you wanna talk about a band that’s criminally underrated without over using that statement it’s RIOT . Not enough people know about the greatness of RIOT . Riot was above and beyond for their time Swords and tequila one of the great albums of the 80s in my humble opinion. It did NOT get half of the recognition that he deserves. Some say bad management some say bad luck I don’t know all the details BUT what I do know is I is they were one of my favorite bands for a long time and then they just kind of disappeared for a long time. What a tragedy. Awesome band awesome vocalist great tunes.
In 81 or 82 saw these guys 2 weeks in a row opening for Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult. After the first show bought this ep, still have it. God they were awesome!
had the pleasure of seeing them open for rainbow and the scorpions in 82..blew me away.went out and bought this album the next day.. still crank it up and piss of the neighbor s
the new version of Riot Restless Breed has it as bonus tracks!!! finally!!!! i found it on ebay. just make sure it is the High Vaultage Records release....Tedd
always was strange how this E.P. had the same cover as the earlier live album. i SAW them with Rhett on the born in America tour and shared the mic with me on swords and tequailla.....found memory indeed. R.I.P. GUY & RHETT
I still own this vinyl & play this some thirty yrs later and Love every minute of it. as well as the other early stuff. Long Live RIOT NYC. R.I.P Mark,Guy,Rhett
I really love Riot and the albums they put out with Rhett Forester. He could sing, and damn, could he scream. I wish he had just given up the keys. I somewhat understand his initial response, because I had someone put a gun in my face also. I WAS STUPID, I told him to fuck off. He then pointed the gun at a bush and pulled the trigger. I saw the bullet go through the bush and from then on it was "Here's my wallet, keys, do you need me to hold the door open for you (actually didn't say that, but I would've after seeing that bullet go through the bush.). I wish he would've given it up, he'd probably still be alive today and giving us more music to love.
Great Album! This is the one i remember hearing when i was young but i dont get why this is not in the discography of the band? Instead there´s on spotify an album with the same cover but with Guy Speranza on vocals and other songs! wtf??
Also,Thanks,Bill Lamberger for the intro to Riot & the Iron Maiden tattoo on my arm. When young people ask me who it is,I look 'em in the eye and say,"my ex-wife"! I hope Eddie gets the joke.
yeah, these guys kicked ass. Rhett was badass. Guy was just as badass. Fire Down Under blew my mind when I was 15 yrs old. Here it is 40 yrs later, and metal today for the most part kinda sucks donkey. RIP all you guys.
Too bad virtually no one has ever heard this. That harmonica/guitar call and response that begins at 2:18 is, and always has been fucking amazing!
