- Adrian Papež plays Fandanguillo, composed by Joaquín Turina in 1929. Performed on a 2019 Bruce West guitar.
This piece blends the traditions of Andalucian flamenco with sounds of impressionism and Spanish folk music. This piece uses the flamenco rasgueado (multi-fingered strum) as well as percussion and harmonics. The fandanguillo ("little fandango") was originally a lively dance that can be traced back to early 18th century Spain.
Turina dedicated this piece to Andrés Segovia "el maravillo artista con un apretado abrazo" - with a big hug!
This is talent, being as amazing as you are and sharing it among everyone you meet. Thank you Adrian, and what a fantastic performance!
